Lunatic Marxists
Supporters of Castro's disastrous regime in Cuba love to blame the United States for Havana's problems, but this article shows everything wrong in Cuba has one cause, Marxism.

Indeed. Too many stupid players here and too many stupid people in general. I guess that's because most of you are American.

I do think Americans have no right to speek about the Greek debt. Look at your own debt. The only difference is the advantage of having the dollar as global currency.
stratagos (3269 D(S))

@Putin. Assume an interest rate of 1%. Please present a scenario where Greece can pay off their outstanding debts.

You can call me a "right wing blowhard" if you'd like, but from my point of view you're the one talking out your ass
hellalt (113 D)

ok so this became a conversation about the debt...
I have no interest to talk about it.
I didn't choose to get born here, neither did I choose to have those crappy politicians.
heck if Australia invited me I would go there right now.
TC: you are such a mega troll dude.
You are not invited to play with me.
You suck too much.

stratagos (3269 D(S))

@Victorious - you think I'm happy about *our* debt load? Please - I've been bitching about the deficit for a decade.

We actually have other advantages besides the dollar being the global reserve currency. Not being tied into the Euro - which removes many tools for debt adjustment - is one of them. And many of these "benefits" just mean the day of reckoning for us is pushed further out, it doesn't mean it isn't coming for us.

But that doesn't mean I'm a hypocrite for pointing out the Greek economic situation sucks - *both* our economic situations suck, and the citizens of both nations are ultimately to blame. But that doesn't give them a free ride, either.

@hellalt - if you don't want people picking on what is obviously a sore subject, I would advise you not to start shit. You brought this on yourself.

hellalt, maybe you should start another thread if you want to talk about Diplomacy. It's true that strategy and tactics alone will not win you this game. You need Diplomacy.

"That's why I have became so disappointed from the games here. People can only think in a basic first level. No way they can understand strategies. They just ally with the one with the best manners."

They ally with the ones who are the most convincing. I have never played with you so I am not sure what you are like to play with, but you have a reputation. Maybe chainsaw Diplomacy is not working for you as well as you would like. Given your superior ability at strategy and tactics, the only thing that can be letting you down is your Diplomacy. Really, if other players are not very good at strategy and tactics, that should be to your advantage. If not, you are doing something wrong.
Clearly, given your GR you are a very good player, so don't take my comments the wrong way please. But you have raised he topic and it is an interesting subject. Do you players really tend to ally with "the ones with the best manners?"

hey hell, no worries. Im sure you greeks can think your way out of it (or bitch your way out of it if your countrymen are anything like you)
hellalt (113 D)

I started this thread as a way to have some fun trolling and it worked but I'm bored of it now.
You all know I'm an attention whore.
I don't believe only Americans are stupid.
I actually think that both Americans and Greek are stupid.
Humanity in general is stupid.
Nevertheless I do believe that at least 50% of the people here don't understand tactics.
Also, I have a live example of a masters game that I was willing to donate a country the solo just because another country irritated me, yet he won't take the solo because he dislikes me as a person. How stupid can that be?
In general I cannot find much challenge in this game anymore.
I'm looking for some new challenge but I can't seem to find anything interesting.
I'm also in a 151 D gunboat in who the players are rather good (since 6 are alive in 1910) but still it doesn't look appealing enough.
And to set some things straight I dont always rant in games. I do it whenever I have lost my interest in the game. When that happens I have my way of fun challenging everyone to attack me. That's just self destructive but who cares.
Also TC I only play to win. That's why when I lose my solo chances I don't give a shit If I draw or get defeated.
And for those who question my tactical skills let me remind you that I was in the final four in the relevant cup in the Austria vs France version of the game beating theghostmaker and figles among other (losing to ms bent if I remember correctly).
Unfortunately tactics cannot get you anywhere in this game.
My biggest tactical success so far was defending as England against both France and Germany in one game (letting fleets get disbanded then building armies) and also a game where I defended as France against England (ms bent) and Germany with both of them making no progress for 5 years.

Yep, TC is still nothing but an ad hominem troll. Back on mute he goes. But before he does.

Hey TC, Oh almighty one. What is your GR? I bet it isn't what hellalt's or mine is. *That* is the measure of a Diplomacy player. That and having more wins and draws combined than survives and defeats. Points just mean you may have lost a big game her or there because you choose to play the better players and occasionally get your ass handed to you on a platter. But GR tells the tale of your overall skill. Do you know what your GR is?

"Please present a scenario where Greece can pay off their outstanding debts."

It needs to grow the economy. Austerity isn't going to do that. Unfortunately Greece is too small to do much against the global economic headwinds, but a giant stimulus would help. Recovery = higher tax receipts = being able to pay off debt. Usually this is done by expanding exports. Sadly for Greece, they're on the abomination called the Euro, so they can't depreciate their currency to make it cheaper to buy Greek exports. And large economies like Germany don't buy anything from anybody, so they're kind of screwed in that respect.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)

That'd be a shame and a great loss to the community...

I hope you reconsider, hellalt. :/
Draugnar (0 DX)

@Putin - Even if it were bigger, Greece doesn't have much to export anyhow. Their economy is largly a tourism based economy. You can't export people coming to visit.
Putin33 (111 D)
06 Oct 11 UTC
Tourism is an export. Tourists come, buy local goods and services, and bring them home. Also shipping is another big one and that has been hit hard by the recession.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
06 Oct 11 UTC
as an export tourism doesn't require any shiping...
stratagos (3269 D(S))

Putin is correct both on how Greece could get out and how the Euro makes that impossible. Greece benefitted from the Euro when times were good, but now that's going to bite them in the ass

I don't know if anyone is interested in studying or analyzing things like that, but I am. Since discovering this site (back in, oh, last week?) I've really come to enjoy the Ancient Med variant.
