Lunatic Marxists
Supporters of Castro's disastrous regime in Cuba love to blame the United States for Havana's problems, but this article shows everything wrong in Cuba has one cause, Marxism.

The day after they release the latest iPhone. Shocking.

Just saw this on CNBC; the man was brilliant, and revolutionized the music and technology industries.

And at the young age of 56 - very sad. He will be missed. R.I.P.

Why do you not like Apple?

Their products are overpriced and overrated, their supporters are snobbish and condescending to anyone with a different opinion, and they suck to program on. Need anymore?

Steve Jobs was *NOT* an innovator....he only managed to aggregate technology that everyone alreayd predicted would be aggregated. And he sold it to you at 10x the price it was worth....and you were stupid enough to buy it!

Flying cars are within our technological possibility.....but we won't see it in our life-times.

Steve....I hated you....but I thank you for advancing technology. Thanks for Sansa, who copied your functionality at a fraction of the price, for my Sony Streaming Media Player (Apple TV...) for being so cheap.

Steve Jobs...let's be real....was NOT NOT NOT a visionary....he just happened to hold the power in his company to drive the Already-Envisioned into reality. But he sold....and resold...and resold...the cheeseburger over and over again. Good for you...for for Steve Jobs...
....but now you are fucking dead....and you company will whither....and technology will suffer.

Oh well.
Brett Favre was surprised Steve Jobs did not lead Apple to tech dominance sooner. "He just kind of fell into a good situation." Favre said he could see the talent pool Jobs inherited was outstanding and the biggest surprise was that Jobs didn't get it done sooner.

What Steve Jobs understood was that products actual features are no more important than their aesthetics. iEverything is sexy, and for that, he was a visionary.

Whether or not you like Apple, to argue Steve Jobs was not a Titan of Technology is foolish.

Apple was a failing company before Jobs took it back over in the 90's (?). He revolutionized 3 major markets: Portable Music, Smart Phones, Tablets.

Yeah, there were products for each of those before, but other than the Walkman and Blackberry, no one gave a shit about any of them. Did he and Apple make the most advanced products? No, but he did manage to create high-tech products that average people could relate to and understand, which is a significant achievement.

It's a shame when anyone dies, and Steve Jobs is no exception, but Apple will do just fine without him. I believe Jobs was able to create a culture at Apple this time that will continue to make products that consumers love, even without him.

To the Diplomat, i would say that their prices are pretty high for the most part, but that in part is to increase their appeal. (Grey Goose Effect).

Have you owned and operated a Mac? From my experience they are quite reliable when compared to a PC. Just my experience.

Many of their supporters are Snobs, but should you blame the people or the product?

NO idea about programming.
Putin33 (111 D)

Indeed, I was an Apple aficionado in the 90s and remember those dark days when it was thought that Microsoft was going to buy it out and turn it into another crappy PC clone company. I still play Apple IIgs games on emulator. If Jobs wasn't an innovator, then who is among that class? The thing about Jobs was every product was personally approved by him. There are no other CEOs like that, that actually care about their product.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))

Well, I own a Mac but it's not for personal use but for work. And i love my year older PC that still blows it out of the water in all specifications ands was 600$ cheaper. And if you didn't know, Microsoft gave apple 150 mill back in the 90s to save it. Bet they still own some :)
ezpickins (113 D)

A) is the mac been treated the same compared to the PC?
B) Are they relatively the same in their overall level on the hierarchy of computer creation. (in other words, are they both top level or mid range or etc)
C) Lucky Microsoft

Oh wow...I did NOT see that coming.

I leave for a few hours, and you die, Mr. Jobs? :(

Granted I don't have that much Apple stuff--my comp's a PC, my phone's a Android, and my music player's an iPod, I'm technologically-diversified--but he was certainly a great mover and shaker in the industry.

YOU WILL BE MISSED.

You just tied a current story about sports, to a current story about the death of a business CEO (well former CEO) and made it work. Well done sir.

Well done indeed (though in Brett's defense, while he shouldn't have said that...he DOES have at least somewhat of a point, after all, it WAS just three years before Rodgers' team won the SB that Favre had a Packer team with many of those same players a few inches away from potentially winning the game on a TD instead of being picked--and that was with the guy in his late 30s...so yeah, shouldn't have said it, but it's not as if Rodgers exactly turned a 2-14 team into a Super Bowl winner, he DID have a lot of the pieces already there.)

Nice piece on Mr. Jobs

But reflect for a moment on Steve Jobs. He took resources from no one. He coerced no one. He pandered to no one. He made hundreds of millions of people happy. He ended up being responsible for the creation of tens if not hundreds of thousands of jobs, and inspired countless others to mimic him, or to beat him, or to otherwise complement his work. He asked for no special favors. He was adopted, and certainly was not dealt the best hand in the lottery of life. He blamed no one else for his failures. He shared in his successes. I would argue that this one man’s short life was far more important than a century’s worth of politicians who claim to be working in your interest.

Ancient Med Stalemate Lines
I don't know if anyone is interested in studying or analyzing things like that, but I am. When I was first starting to play diplomacy (back in, oh, February?), I immersed myself in reading all about the strategies and theories that people had written articles on. Since discovering this site (back in, oh, last week?) I've really come to enjoy the Ancient Med variant.

My games are going south, so I have time for Forum jollies. I've had really good luck here soliciting ideas for TV shows to Netflix, so I'm trying to compile a list of interesting, oddball comic book titles that you've come across.

A Question, Doctor Who--And Sci-Fin In General--Fans:
The Terminator went back in time to kill Sarah and then John Connor.
The Borg went back in time to stop First Contact and assimilate Earth.
The Omega 13, for God's sake, allowed a do-over that let Tim Allen win.
Why don't Doctor Who bad guys just travel back in time and kill him as a baby? (Also, wtf happened in this season finale...I'm STILL confused!) :p
