Lunatic Marxists
Supporters of Castro's disastrous regime in Cuba love to blame the United States for Havana's problems, but this article shows everything wrong in Cuba has one cause, Marxism.

Indeed. Too many stupid players here and too many stupid people in general. I guess that's because most of you are American.

Bullying
While there is no doubt bullying is a major problem, and the suicides caused by it are tragedies, does making the kids who commit suicides tragic heroes encouraging more kidstake that route?

The International TV Exchange Program
Suggest 1 TV show you think absolutely MUST be seen by others--and espeically those who are maybe in another country and not familiar with the show. The NEXT person who comes along must watch an episode of said show, and suggest one for the next person...and so on and so forth, until all shows ever to air on the Tube are watched by the WebDip community. :)

Stratagos Challenge: Beat on the rusty old doof
Some of you wanted to beat on me. I think I can kick a single game shortly. Who is in, and what settings are preferred?

I'm going to request 36 hour phases, simply because I expect I'm going to *need* them when I start my new job next week...

Ancient Med Stalemate Lines
I don't know if anyone is interested in studying or analyzing things like that, but I am. When I was first starting to play diplomacy (back in, oh, February?), I immersed myself in reading all about the strategies and theories that people had written articles on. Since discovering this site (back in, oh, last week?) I've really come to enjoy the Ancient Med variant.

What are some of your favorite (mainly little-known, short-run) comics series?
My games are going south, so I have time for Forum jollies. I've had really good luck here soliciting ideas for TV shows to Netflix, so I'm trying to compile a list of interesting, oddball comic book titles that you've come across.

how about the dungeons and dragons cartoon series? never seen it but heard its good.
Ges (292 D)

I'm not thinking the super-greats (Fables, Watchmen) that most comics folks have come across, just good, solid titles that surprised or entertained you. We live in a world in which online purchase of really odd stuff is possible, and many of the big publishers are now digitizing their back issues and folks might like some places to start. Short-run titles (or those that died early) or specific arcs in longer titles are preferred.

Some examples:

Foolkiller (Marvel, 1990) A 10-issue miniseries. An everyman's journey through antiheroic darkness in an economic and world-political climate that reflects our own in many ways. Good writing, gritty, human.

Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld (DC, 1983) 12-issue miniseries. A surprisingly solid fantasy in a coherent world. Great villain. The good guys suffer some loss and have to make some tough choices.

@Diplomat: Wow, my son has been watching that cartoon nonstop for almost two months. It actually is pretty good, but even my main man Eric is starting to grate . . .

Livewires (Marvel, 2005) A six-issue series, available as a graphic novel subtitled "Clockwork Thugs, Yo!" A bunch of top-secret black-ops androids are tasked with taking out other Marvel top-secret black-ops projects. There is an unfortunate attempt at street android slang, as the titular "yo" suggests. (Instead of a variant of the N-word ending in "a," the androids call each other "my mecha." Bleah.) The first chapter of the GN has so much exposition about the characters they might as well have gone a step further and said, "This is a graphic novel! Y'know, words and pictures artfully arranged and printed on smushed-up trees, my mecha!" Overall, however, it is a fun, exciting and occasionally moving read.

Y the Last Man is pretty good.

Also, The Adventures of Luther Arkwright (by Bryan Talbot) and it's sequel series, Heart of Empire, were really fun, multiverse hopping stories.

Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius is a great Oni Press series written by Judd Winick that is pretty accurately described as "Dexter's Laboratory Meets South Park." And it has a surprising amount of heart to it, too.

1/0 is a good webcomic, with 1000 installments.

Order of the Stick for sure.
Elementals, originally by Bill Willingham (later went on to do Fables). The Realm is good. The original Grendel by Matt Wagner featuring Hunter Rose. I also like Mage by Matt Wagner.

Nice to see another oots fan out there :)

Sad to see his comic series slow waaaaaay down. plus the plot has been dragging by for an eon.
You bastards. I just spent the last hour reading OOTS instead of doing important stuff.

If you like OOTS, Volume I of Erfworld (originally hosted on the giantitp.com website) is very good. It's all about fantasy wargame theory, with a decent plot and fun world to boot.

A Question, Doctor Who--And Sci-Fin In General--Fans:
The Terminator went back in time to kill Sarah and then John Connor.
The Borg went back in time to stop First Contact and assimilate Earth.
The Omega 13, for God's sake, allowed a do-over that let Tim Allen win.
Why don't Doctor Who bad guys just travel back in time and kill him as a baby? (Also, wtf happened in this season finale...I'm STILL confused!) :p

Lord of the Rings Diplomacy?
Any other fans of the series interested in having a middle earth map for diplomacy? it is not on the to do list or planned at all, and i am just polling for thoughts on the topic. thoughts and ideas would be great, and if enough people want it then we can tell the mods and get it made, maybe.
