What would happen if...
I don't know, but I've always wondered... What would happen if a state told a federal judge who shot down a law to go get bent and enforced it anyhow? I mean, are the feds going to march on Alabama if they enforce their new illegal immigration law? What could they do besides withhold money?

Immigration
Since Draug's last thread was directed towards government but mentions immigration, I figured I'd make another thread for immigration so we can have that discussion separately.

Inspired by Fortknox's version of Godwin's law and by http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?threadID=760957#760957 I have formulated my own for this forum.

Aussie Rules Football
I've watched a couple of games now and would like to know more about it. It seems like a very interesting mix of football (soccer), basketball, and American football; but WAY better than football (soccer) and basketball.

My Partial Role...
Basically, I'd like to rewrite history...and I need help. If this thread doesn't go to the trolls, I'll explain but knowing this site...
Anyways, I'd just like to create a fiction novel based off of what history maybe SHOULD have been...and of course how I think it WILL be...

its called alternate historical fiction, you aren't onto anything. Though the fact you came to the idea regardless of your inability to read is very impressive in its own way. Do you need us to help you too decipher those scribbles in the things they call books? I assume so since you appear you need to learn history in the first place.

If *YOU* want to rewrite history, then have 1. the balls enough to do it on your own; 2. the intellect enough to come up with some unique idea; 3. the creativity to do it without stealing other people's ideas.

My god, man, don't you go to "The Governor's School"???? I would think a man of your supreme intellect would be able to handle this rather **simple** creative writing task on their own. Apparently, being in "The Governor's School" must mean that...eh hem....you are in government care, a school for the needy, the weak-minded....you are...excuse the phrase...a simpleton???? A Mental midget?

If that's what you're into, check out Harry Turtledove's work. It's all very well thought out alternate history/ sci-fi.

His "Southern Victory" series is a personal favorite of mine.
largeham (149 D)

Turtledove has a lot of problems. For some reason I like reading the Southern Victory series, despite being an almost carbon copy of IRL history.

lol KA is the new official lol-cow of Krellin, Cachimbo, centurion1, and Yours Truly. He cannot make a single post without getting torn into. Poor fellow, if he'd just tell me when he was leaving (or admit finally he never is) It would do much for my esteem of him.
1676- Bacon's rebellion weakens English colonists as King Phillip wins a stunning victory in Massachussets destroying the New English colonies. Virginian tribes unite and drive the planters out of the chesapeake as the weak secondary English footholds throughout north America are overwhelmed one by one. England launches an unprecidented effort to evacuate English citizens and North America is evacuated...

@Largeham

That's actually one of my favorite parts about Turtledove, I always chuckle at his nods to actual history

the "Operation Read Beard" vs. "Operation Barabossa" is pretty funy
i guess it would be subjects rather than citizens
King Atom (100 D)

Not what I meant, but I will check out the Southern Victory series.

Essentially, I have my ideas from the creation of the world up to about the early crusades. And then again in post-modern times...my idea was that a collective group of writers could fill in the gap there, once I've made a name for myself other than the occasional post by Yellowfaggot...
glad you have your "own ideas" after never encountering a document. You will make a good republican presidential candidate one day
and Im glad your fancy governors school has given you no idea of the history of the second millennium, no biggie, nothing important happened

That is not at all what I had said. History there is too ingrained to be changed that dramatically. Just because I don't have a great amount of change doesn't mean I'm going to ignore it. You idiots on this entire site are always jumping to the dumbest conclusions. You never make any sense with the posts you give out, expecting to be +1'ed and rewarded for your trolling...GET A LIFE!
I don't even know whats happening
largeham (149 D)

Hugo, maybe then it just comes down to personal taste. I could stand the similarities up to a point, but eventually they started to piss me off. Supposedly In the Presence of Mine Enemies is very similar (i.e. same dates/events/trends as IRL), but the series where WW2 starts early (I forget what it is called) seems quite interesting.

What are peoples' opinions on the Draka series? The premise looks interesting, but it is supposed to have a lot of problems.

Wait, WTF? If you change history in ancient times, you change all history after that point. Say you fly a bomber into the past and kill Charles Martel's forces at the Battle of Tours. In all likelihood, Christendom would have been conquered by Islam. Unless you are talking about an alternate *interpretation* of history...

Looks like the number of forum cheating accusations has greatly increased. Just to let all of you noobs out there know, the rules have much to say, why don't you read them. If you have a cheating accusation, send it to [email protected] and complain to the mods. This forum is for trolling and other pointless conversations, not to hear you all bitching. Thank you.

Donator icons
Hi guys, I added the donor icons but there were 30 or so people who donated with a different e-mail address than they're using here. If you should have a donor icon but don't e-mail me at [email protected] telling me which e-mail address you donated with.

Thanks again to all who donated, we've just got the 2 year lease for the dedicated host, and everything seems to be going well :-)
