When we join the same game, we let the other players know. A couple of times we've both joined the same gunboat accidentally: in one of them we made sure none of us knew who the other was, in the other we found it out when I had to sit for him and the game was canceled afterwards.

Define "real life friend" for the purposes of this, then.

A real life friend is a member of the compliment of the set of fake life-friends.

Real life = everything outside of the diplomacy website, yep apparently there is life out there.
Friend = (for these purposs) someone that you know even if you don't like them very much

gramilaj - we are rivals in the Chicago ftf diplomacy club. I also recently discovered that the user 'Nadji' lives down the hall from me. Haven't played against him yet, though.

@Maniac, i seriosuly recommend you get some 'real friends' and play diplomacy with them. It's a lot of fun. (and i've made friends in all my league games, i'd paly those guys again any time, but apparently they're not real... they must be in 'the set of fake life-friends.')

None I know of, although Crazyter was introduced to here by me, but I only know her through the Judges.

I'm the manager of a Diplomacy group the members of which attend LSU, and I work closely with a high school Diplomacy club. If I listed all the people in that group it'd be about 20 people strong. <_>

Lots. We've even played games together -- lots of passworded ones, and we always inform everyone else prior to their joining that we know each other. (And most importantly, there is no more metagaming than is to be expected of players who are familiar with each other -- we have a better idea of who's more stabby and who's more trustworthy, of course, and that goes under consideration like it would if you knew any other players from past games. But we don't do preordained alliances and we frequently stab each other.)

*addendum: We always inform everyone else prior to their joining that we know each other *if we're aware we're in the same game.* There have been a couple of unfortunate instances where I worked together with one of them unwittingly in an anonymous game. ;>_>

There are quite a few more, but they've played no more than, like, 1-2 games on site and I don't think they play outside of our group anyway. Also, butterhead has played a lot of games with our group, but we don't know him IRL, so unsure if he counts. He's still a friend in my book! But not IRL.

i prefer to not play games with them because i do know them in real life but whenever they have a game that needs players to start then sometimes i get a message to join so they can get their game to start but under no circumstances do i alliance with them just because we are "friends" if the game calls for an alliance then im not going to not be an ally because i know them in real life but if things are calling for me to attack them or vice versa then i will not stay my hand just because they're a friend. Also most of them are just beginners and often ask me for help with their games so i do what i can to teach them. (comradegrumbles and a blind kid are the players who introduced me to the game)

the L name is lelouch vi zero, i played one game with them to try to teach them how to play and i believe thats the only game they have played so far
