Drawing ethics
I have heard that Mods have the power to force a draw in a game. Is this true? And if so, in a game where one or more major powers have CDed, basically throwing the game and all the players except one or two would like a draw and the one or two who don't are exploiting the CDed player, should a draw be forced?

You know you're playing too much Diplomacy when you start looking at chess from a Diplomacy standpoint. (Hmm... if I retreat my bishop to D6, do you think he'll get his rook out of the H-file?) Should I be afraid?

Hypothetical rules question, with no bearing on anything that has ever actually happened
If I were forced to disband my last unit because I was dislodged and had nowhere to retreat to, but still had a non home supply centre somewhere else on the board, would I count as being eliminated, or still in the game?

EOG for France:

Italy, you played one helluva game. For about 3-4 years initially, I thought I was a goner, with you and Germany playing hostile moves and F ENG. Unluckily for you, Turkey slipped a fleet in ION, and even after that you played the best moves to survive. Wise call with pulling out of the Iberian battle, which allowed me to focus more on Germany, who was by then in 2 English centers.

England, good game in the beginning, but I feel like your diplomacy towards me was rather ambiguous the whole time, which is why I wasn't sad to see you go in the end. For instance, you never really attacked me, but F ENG wasn't the best note to start on. In fact, it might have been wiser for you to signal a triple team on me and direct Germany towards BUR et al. But these things are hard to do in gunboat. I must commend your invasion of Russia, but ultimately it left you stretched, and when Germany convoyed to YOR, your moves could have been better...you could've lost just one center instead of three that year. I decided to help you survive towards the end only so that Germany wouldn't grow too fast - at this point I was going for the three way with Germany and Turkey.

Russia - great recovery from a terrible start. You retreated towards a stalemate position, but ultimately Germany was able to finish you off without letting Turkey do too much damage. Great move to DEN that one year, when we managed to get Germany to disband.

Austria - a commendable effort to hold out in the face of a Turkish solo...although if I were you, I'd have tried in the last year to retreat and make an attack on MUN so as to have a spot on the stalemate line for when Turkey reached there. May not have worked, but could've gotten another year out of the game.

And finally, Germany...believe me I thought that you were a much bigger threat to me than Turkey was. I did my best to slow your growth enough to keep us roughly on par. Thanks for letting me keep Belgium and Liverpool. Good job with STP and rushing the MUN-BER stalemate.

Turkey - gg.

Germany:

Russia: I blocked you in Swe because you looked to be setting up the Juggernaut with Tur, and there was a fair chance of Eng and Fra going to war. That last part had me thinking I could quickly secure the north-east corner. England crushed any chance of that, but actually had us working on the same side for a couple of years...and working well too. Nice play recoving Mosc then taking and securing Scan. I gave you Den ;) Ava's blowing up your tires to get another shot at your points. I finally did secure that corner, sort of, in 2010.

England: Loved Lon to EC. I thought we were positioned to work together in Scand, Rus and Fra. I was a little disappointed that you didn't help me take Swe in '02, but building A-Lon, F-Edi forced me to cover my ass. I got a double dip of luck, guessing right in the Lowlands and taking the North. I was a little surprised that you didn't protect your homeland and attacked Rus instead. That being said, great, and I mean GREAT move in Spring '07. If there was a move that closed the door on my chance of winning, that was it.

France: I was completely unaggressive towards you until Italy pulled back, and we bounced in Pic. I was counting on that fact when England and I were mixing it up. You could have ruined me with a couple of cut supports. Later on, I was hoping you wouldn't help England and go for your own center. Well played. I got a little greedy not supporting Lvp, but I wanted my fleet in the NAO so I could support EC to MAO that Spring. England foiled my plan and I pretty much went for broke in an attempt to stay within two centers of Turkey. You didn't let that happen, and took Belg. Fortunately, at that point, we had to stop fighting and protect against the solo. I guess timing is everything. Thanks for closing the door in the Med. GG

Italy: Thank you for keeping France busy. If points were money, I'd kick you down some for the assist*. Also, thanks for making Turkey earn every inch towards the end.

Austria: As Ger, I want Austria to be almost as strong as I am. Not getting Serb was crushing, but like Italy, there's no quit in you. Thanks for not attacking Munich.

Turkey: We didn't really come together until the end, but I had to stop what I was trying to do to try and stop you. A couple of breaks and you could have had it. GG.

Eh, my story is obvious enough to barely need stating. Russia and Turkey worked together briefly.... Italy was going west, which suited me. Turkey stabbed Russia perfectly, and after that, barring German intervention, I was going to slowly die to the Turks.

Which is what happened.

Alliance with Russia, who allowed me Bla in autumn 01 and jabbed at Austria, facilitated early growth in the Balkans. In the beginning it was really only Austria, Russia, and I off in our own little world. All of the other Great Powers were occupied with each other. Russia faltered in the north and when he abandoned our front in order to address England and Germany, I stabbed Russia fatally. In the meantime I had made the decision to capture Adr instead of stretching myself too thin by venturing off into Tyn etc. With fleets in Adr and Ion, I was able to seal off my part of the world from all naval attacks for what seemed like forever. At that point, I just kept building armies. I was able to get them into action using quick convoys to Sev or Rum. I kept that fleet in Bla for about 8 years. Because I was almost completely ignored, I managed to stroll up to Mos-War-Liv. War and Liv are highly contentious areas in this game, and I had just how-do-you-do'ed myself into a solid defensible position completely unmolested. I started ordering the first of many supported attacks on StP, signalling to Germany how we were going to eliminate Russia. Germany would see, as well, that Germany had two SCs to gain. This eventually came to pass. It was at this point that I swarmed Austria and Italy.

France and Germany were equally ruthless concerning England. Once Italy was finally eliminated the stalemate lines were set from Mun to War, and France was cramming units into and around Italy. It was just we three, and I wasn't going to break through narrow Pie to France, because France had the 2 armies necessary to hold it. My army superiority meant jack at this point. God damn Switzerland!!! The waterways were clogged as well. Nothing doing there. I took the 3 way draw, having exhausted all reasonable possibilities of a solo, and eaten all of the delicious candy.

The fact that I was almost completely unmolested made for a very easy game for Turkey.
