Face to Face Help...
Trying to set up a face to face game with friends but we don't have a board and we'll likly have a hard time finding on. Is there a way to use a web site as the board? A way to have on admin input all the moves and have it play out?

There is plenty of software you can use that will adjudicate it. Check out JDip for one decent one. It follows the same DATC that WebDip does (the standard for any implementation of a Diplomacy Adjudicator).
Cool, I'll look into it.
Sorry for the double post. It told me I was logged out when I posted it.

You could print out a map and use paper pieces... but it would be a whole lot easier just to buy the board game.

Use a beamer and everybody use their mobile to enter the moves.
Or like in the real game everybody makes their moves on a paper and you enter the commands all at once here.

OK, over here a beamer is a BMW. What is a beamer where you are at Sleepcap? Is it a projector of some sort?

yeah, a projector of the map would be cool... i think i'll try that for my next game.

Buy one for $20 on Amazon? Seriously it's worth it.

I wouldn't recommend getting the newest edition of the board game. It has these crappy cardboard tokens. I don't have it, but I've seen pictures online and heard of the crappy reviews. It's disappointing that their highly anticipated "50th Anniversary" edition has such crappy pieces. I guess the game board looks fairly nice though.

I have the previous edition, the one with the metal pieces, so I might consider buying the new edition if I found it highly discounted just to get that nice new board. If you are looking for older editions, you can find some on Ebay or BoardGameGeek marketplace.

I've always wanted to make my own game board by drawing borders over a nice historical map:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Europe_1914_Shepherd.jpg
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Europe_1911.jpg
That 1914 map is pretty nice. Unfortunately, the image has a big ugly crease down the middle. I've been looking for someone with some photoshop skills to help me restore it.

What if the 1911 map were to be better colored. The only real issue is with the color as the lbales are 99% identical. I brought them up in different tabs and click back and forth and all you get is the shift due to the crease, one small label added to the 1914 map, and a slight change in names down in Turkey.
yebellz (729 D(G))

Right, the 1911 map is of better quality and nearly identical except for in the Balkan area. I guess it could be easier for a photoshopper to work from the 1911 map to produce a map with the 1914 Balkan borders, but I'm not too sure.

Color balance isn't a huge worry. I think the 1911 map is a little bit too desaturated as well, but that's an easier fix. The original photos (pre-whitening) are also available for both images if you look at the previous versions.

The 1911 map also has a slight crease. It's barely noticeable, but it's there and you can notice the distortion in detail.

A beamer here is a projector.
You could display the largemap-view of the map on the wall and discuss the moves of everybody. Once everyone has written down the orders you enter them here (using different accounts) and show the largemap again. If you can't finish the game just pause it.
I actually plan on printing the outline of the map on to a big sheet of overhead plastic (about 1.5m by 1m), printing out small post stamp size flags labelled 'NAVY' or 'ARMY' for the units and using dry eraser marks to update the map.

I may attach + magnets to the flags and - magnets to the end of a yard stick and use that to push them around on the map.
But I'm not sure if I can get a group to play so I don't want to invest to much in till I know.

If you want some FtF players, you can post how old you are and where you live, and ask anyone in that age range and geographic area if they'd like to play FtF. Of course, that could also attract... unsavory... characters, so use at your own risk.
Well I live in a town with a population of 6,000 in Northern Ontario so I might have to wait till I go to college to play face to face.

Face to Face Help.
Is there a website that will allow me have one person (an admin) to input all the nations moves and let it play out? That way I don't have to buy a board game and we don't have to deal with peaces getting moved. Anyother way to use a computer to manage a face to face game?

Gunboat Done Properly
I've tried three gunboat games today, all of which have been spoiled by no-shows and cds. Frankly, I find it ridiculous that 3 games be ruined this way. If anyone is interested in doing it properly, I will create a 50 point buy-in game scheduled to start in 30 minutes. If you join, show up.

I was going to post a suggestion that a feature that allowed us to view our country statistics including how we ended the games with each one and our percentages would be a really cool feature.
