Who does Webdiplomacy think will win Superbowl XLIV?
Poll runs until 6:25. One vote per person please. Check online after the kickoff to see official results.

Indianapolis, I'm afraid.

Sentimentality.
My Colts shall destroy the Saints
warsprite (152 D)

Colts without question. The news people are just feeling sorry for New Orleans because of their history. The blue and white storm going to swamp them.
Acosmist (0 DX)
07 Feb 10 UTC
I have no idea why I am supposed to feel sorry for the Saints football team.

I think the Colts may still win even after the thuggish Saints players again intentionally injure a quarterback.
jimgov (219 D(B))
07 Feb 10 UTC
Trust me on this one, IF the Saints knock Manning out of the game, and that is a big if, the Colts will get slaughtered. He is their team.
Acosmist (0 DX)
07 Feb 10 UTC
Well, then, they'll win, and we'll all feel good, for some reason! I am not quite sure why.

Yay injuries!

i agree with jimgov, if manning gets hit, its over
Draugnar (0 DX)

My heart cries out for the colts with Indy being just an hour and a hlf's drive from my house, but I fear the Saint's may bruise their way to victory. They definitely have a black and blue squad in their defense.

It would be much appreciated if people could vote first then talk over who's advantages and who's disadvantages, etc. etc..

Colts: Because they can curbstomp Drew Brees with a flick of their wrist.
Rule Britannia (737 D)

Saints.
Because they've had to come through the narrow, OT win against the Vikings, the Colts had an easier ride, so may be less ready for the big game.

saints will win.

My vote is "I don't give a damn who wins, it's a stupid game"

He's obviously not an American, and is probably a communist.

I'd say Colts, but all I really care about is winning money on our house squares pool.

I think it's going to be Colts, but I (like the guy above me) don't really like football so I'll probably just have a LOST or NCIS marathon. haha
figlesquidge (2131 D)

Not sure who's going to win the football this year, it'll be close. To me they're rather contrasting options, but its going to be whoever keeps their attack fluent and their defence tight. Sure forms important, but I think you've got to take into account their mindsets. I mean, over the last few years things have gone really badly in some area's (eg Hurricane Katrina) and so there will clearly be an emotional side to it that might well be underestimated. Then there's the location chosen to stage it this year. Sure its not a midday event but the climate will affect the players both in their preparation and the event. So, Clearly there are a lot of factors to take into account, and in the end its just a guess, but I think the team I would put money on would be spain, currently the best footballing team on the planet.

I've got until 6:25 to make a prediction? Excellent, game will be close to over by then.

noahjf, if you don't care, then why are you posting? Do you post in every thread about things you don't care about stating that you don't care?
noahjf (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
I was submitting my vote, I think a third category for people who don't care who wins is appropriate =)
noahjf (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
And I know this is a bit off topic, but can someone tell me why some games and threads (like this one) have a green star next to them?
klokskap (550 D)

Chuck Norris.
klokskap (550 D)
08 Feb 10 UTC
@Noahjf, the green star means that you posted something in the thread.
noahjf (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
Oh, thanks, but why do some games have them as well?
figlesquidge (2131 D)
08 Feb 10 UTC
Because they've got high point values.
noahjf (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
That's what I thought, just making sure, thanks =)
Invictus (240 D)
08 Feb 10 UTC
So I was wrong and I didn't win any money. Great.
I honestly thought the Colts would win, but I'm happy they didn't. This may well kick off the longest and most intense Mardi Gras ever.
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
Damn on-side kick at the start of the second half... Then that pick off just sealed it.
uclabb (589 D)
08 Feb 10 UTC
As a sort of extension of Draugnar's point, I really think that coaching was the difference in the game. The going for it on fourth down in the second quarter was gutsy and showed confidence in the team, not to mention it made tactical sense to pin Manning in at the 2 so that he could not afford to drop back. Then, obviously, the onside kick and the clear adjustments that the Saints made at halftime clinched it.

Also, as a Chargers fan I couldn't help but notice how well the Saints kicker did. If only we had him instead of Nate Kaeding during the playoffs.....
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
Yeah, three 40+ yarders. I got to give him some respect for setting a record like that. I still think it was a cheap trick going for the onside kickoff at the start of the half.
Rule Britannia (737 D)
08 Feb 10 UTC
@ uclabb: harsh on kaeding, he didn't miss a kick all season until that one bad day......

Can someone help me figure out what happened here?
In a recent game I tried to pull of a move that required me to move out of Rumania to attack Sevastopol while moving my army from Bulgaria into Rumania again, I assumed Galicia would attack Rumania so I had my ally attack him to keep his move canceled. My army got stuck in Bulgaria however.

That's all a bit convoluted, the gameID=20630 if you could just check it out and tell me what happened so I don't make the same mistake again. Thanks!

A Problem with the Deadline counter.
Hi, I switched computers and something weird is happening. When I log into my account on this particular computer the Deadline counter for my games are normal for a couple of seconds and then I get "Now" instead of the time to move. Any ideas if there is a setting or something I need to change?

Austria in a Live Game
I think that the diplomacy required for Austria in a live game is overkill. It is just too easy for Russia/Turkey to split it up without even thinking... definitely the worst nation in a live game. There is too much diplomacy needed and not enough will power from other players.
