can you retreat via convoy?
Like if I'm attacked in London, and I have no territories in England, but I have territories in france, and a fleet in the english channel. Will my unit be retreated to brest for example (which btw contains no units), or will my unit be destroyed if beaten in an attack?

League replacement wanted
Group A has suffered a civil disorder. If anyone wants to take over this player, they should email me to arrange it (my email is in my profile).
There is another game to start also, so there is a chance of getting an improved position in next season, if you want to join the leagues.

If I want to hold all my units in a game but not CD what do I have to do?
This is not related to my current game; I'm just curious. Without finalising will my hold move(s) not count as CD if I go to the game and do I have to update?

My Signature :)
"Uncountably many, and counting" is joke in the flavor of "There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't", but a little more subtle :) because you may think you understand it, but [mathematically] you don't.

Can I force an army of myself to move out?
Hello everyone! Quick question regarding the rules:
If say I have an army in Munich that I move to Burgund. France has an army in Paris that moves to Burgund too so neither gets in.
Now if I also play army Kiel to Munich supported by army Berlin what happens to my army Munich? Is it forced out of Munich and has to retreat in some open territory?

Suggestion (not related to a previous thread of mine)
I say we reserve the forum for discussing strategy, questions, and petitioning the mods/Kestas. Not pointless political arguements like ones I've participated in. Please don't call me a hypocrite. People have their views and you have yours. Live with it.

Totally disagree.
One of the best things about this forum is that it is relatively open.
I agree it should be better organised, but the responsibility for that rests on the shoulders of people like myself who could improve it but haven't - not Kestas who has put an awful lot of work into this project!

The forum should be used exclusively for killing time while waiting for your last gamemate to finalize orders. Whatever kills your time is fair game - be it abortion, religion, anarchy, facism, questions about leagal/illegal moves, outing multis, death penaly, assisted suicide, gays, obama's socialist agenda, currupt friends and his complete unqualifiedness to be the next commander in chief, "why did this move fail" questions etc.

See what I mean? I start an honest, perfectly fair petition, and what happens? People ruin it to argue about their own crap! If you're gonna debate, don't do it on a petition. Are you guys really that lazy? Too lazy to start your own idiotic thread that I will most likely post on?

@ philecore:
"Whatever kills your time is fair game......."
--philecore

Really? You kill time on Diplomacy? I knew there were 45-year-old virgins on here that live in their mom's basement, but philecore here has taken to the next level! Yes, it's fun, but who kills time in the forum? The most I have ever written is three paragraphs, if that. I know you all think that I spend every waking moment on here, which is not true. Why do you think my comments are rash and not well-thought-out.

For the record, it took me three minutes to think of that and type it.

Do you acually think I'm doing this for comedy? Who would win in a fight between Dane Cook and Bill O'Reilly?

Bill O'Reilly.
Intellect beats comedy, every time.

Sioraf - It's just a running joke - I think it's funny and it's nothing personal. I like you and enjoy reading your posts. But every now and then I'm gonna say sioraf -1 because it makes me laugh. In fact I can't stop laughing now for some reason.

Diplomat - you don't read through the forum to killl time? Why is it so surprising that someone else does. That conjurs up images of 40 year olds in their moms's basements to you? Seriously? You're a bit of a weirdo. I think some of the discussions on the forum are very interesting, and those that I don't I just don't read. Who would read it at all if it was just about the game? That would be lame. It's because I enjoy reading posts by Sicarius thinkning that civilation is coming to an end that I occasionally see a "Why did my move fail" question and answer it.

"Do you acually think I'm doing this for comedy? Who would win in a fight between Dane Cook and Bill O'Reilly?

Oh my god. This might be the single most unintentionally funny joke ever! Hahaha! God, the irony is actually destroying my stomach and cheek muscles.

diplomat, you've started your fair share of off topic threads and if we have to put up with your ridiculous notions being posted here then you can put up with some (un)intelligent discussion. It's cool that you can justify posting in this forum by using your time to insult people because you think they have no lives. I hope you get over your insecurities and realize that everyone else is comfortable enough not have to have to say they're now going to do something productive. Nobody here thinks that you spend every waking moment here because nobody here thinks about you. Just like you don't think about the garbage men or the waitresses. When you realize this, maybe you can settle down and be comfortable with what you do without having to seek the validation of others.

Sioraf, I hope you don't take the joke that way. I don't think anybody means it as an attack on you, it's just a joke. People say it because it's funny. Nobody is dismissing you or your opinions, but everyone here is subject to criticism.
Invictus (240 D)
14 Dec 08 UTC
"Who would win in a fight between Dane Cook and Bill O'Reilly?

Bill O'Reilly.

I find this funny for a completely different reason. Dane Cook doesn't do comedy, he makes stupid observations and puts emphasis on odd syllables when he explains them. That's not comedy.

I heard Sinbad on the radio say that Dane Cook's jokes were just thinks like "did you ever see a snake move?" You want real comedy, see stuff by George Carlin or Richard Pryor or Steve Allen or George Burns or Colin Quinn or The Three Stooges or Marx Brothers or Daniel Tosh. God, even Gallagher's better than that hack Dane Cook. He also steals a lot of his act, did you know?

I'm rather conservative, but even I know Bill O'Reilly isn't an intellectual. He's not so moronic as is sometimes claimed, but he does ignore unpleasant truths a lot of the time.
Chrispminis (916 D)
14 Dec 08 UTC
Well then we find it funny for the same reason. I don't consider Dane cook comedy, and I don't consider Bill O'Reilly to be an intellectual. =D

It's just also meta-ironic because it's funny because the statement isn't intellectually sound... so does comedy beat intellect? Honestly, I'm sure someone versed in literary deconstruction could have an absolute field day with that joke, and find meta-meta-meta ironies and some sort of sexist, heteronormative meaning hidden in there...
diplomat1824 (0 DX)

Which units get disbanded first?
If no orders are submitted, which units get automatically disbanded? My recollection of the rules was that it was the unit furthest away, where more than 1 equally distant then fleets before armies and in alphabetical order. However, the auto disbands I see follow a different pattern, does anyone know what it is?
