Western Meddling in Iranian Protests
So this is great and all. Encouraging protests and stuff. Um didnt this happen in Iran in Arab Spring too? When people start dying were gonna look pretty bad again. Like we encouraged a coup but didnt actually care about the consequences.

bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Nope. That's the expected wind chill at around 6 PM (or is 7 00z now?). I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a little bit better as close range models come into view in the next couple of days but it won't be fun for you regardless. Models have been in agreement on this big cold spell in the Midwest and the Plains for quite some time now.

Same in Europe... 50 to 40. And it has been like this for last 10 years. The dream here would be to have snow for Xmas, which we haven't experience since maybe 20 years.

It was in the 60s on the solstice here but hasn’t reached above the low 40s since, and it’ll be freezing for a long while now.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Oh, people consider that cold? Michigan has hit -40 with wind chill multiple times. -20 is a not uncommon occurrence. On the plus side, if you're out of freezer space in this area, you just leave food in your car trunk or on the porch in the snow and it's perfectly fine.

Cold here in Iowa too. I think it was -11 without the windchill yesterday morning. I left a bottle of Coke in the car on accident, it exploded and froze. Easy to clean up though. Just picked up the bottle with the frozen soda still attached.

Ahh, the dulcet tones of howling wind and chattering teeth. It is music to my ears to know the the local plant life will stop having its way with my nose. The orgy of pollen in my sinus cavity has blessedly come to a halt, and for a brief while it will bring me joy.

It's supposed to be 80 degree F tomorrow here in southern Arizona. Only one night of below freezing temperatures this winter. Last winter there were only about 3 nights.

Well, let's nip that in the bud, Mamalama.

this is pretty much what the AR5 predicted for mid lattitudes. Melting the arctic sea ice has unstabilized the polar vortex, allowing polar weather to come further south than it would if the vortex had stayed stable and corralled all that cold air up north.

See down the page a little.
https://www.ucsusa.org/global-warming/science-and-impacts/science/cold-snow-climate-change.html

So, any dingbats who don't understand that the earth's atmosphere is a single fairly unstable system should do some reading first before going all Inhofe and displaying how inadequate your local school systems are.

thnx

Europe has also bad weather for the most part. Down here in the south (Athens) we have 55F and it is raining. We don't get extreme cold usually last year we got down to 24F. Snow is a rare visitor, north mountainous areas go down to -1 or -2F but in general, we have no freezing temperatures. We get heavy rainfalls though, a couple of weeks ago we mourned twenty people dead in a flood.

It snowed in Houston and is predicted to snow again. I can sure use some of that "Global Warming" that liberals just love to spew.
reedeer1 (100 D)

It is called climate change since we figured out that the weather patterns are shifting, not warming. Both you and trump are wrong about that.
JamesYanik (548 D)
29 Dec 17 UTC

it is a general warming trend with more extreme weather events. when we do get cold waves they'll be massive, but over time it's more warming.
