Western Meddling in Iranian Protests
So this is great and all. Encouraging protests and stuff. Um didnt this happen in Iran in Arab Spring too? When people start dying were gonna look pretty bad again. Like we encouraged a coup but didnt actually care about the consequences.

Discord Chat
I've created a Discord Server to make it easier to coordinate future games and chat about ongoing ones (that allow press). I checked with one of the mods first to make sure it was okay to set up. Here's the link: https://discord.gg/5WpVw29

Fewer live classic games these days?
Looking back through the last couple months' completed games, it feels like there are far fewer Classic live games than there were a few years ago. Do other people have the same feeling?

Speed of Thought vs Speed of light.
Is thought faster than speed of light.
Smokey Gem (194 D)
26 Dec 17 UTC
I know we can measure reation times to stimulie to gauge speed of thought in this case v speed of light .

BUT I would like to know random thoughts not attched to external stimulie do they occure then tirgger reactions in the brain , or is the brain always just humming awya poppong up random thoughts .

A bit chicken and egg.
ubercacher16 (224 D)
26 Dec 17 UTC
I don't think it is possible to measure the speed of thought. But we do have a measure for the speed of light so I think thought is faster.
Ogion (4385 D)

No. Thoughts are pretty damned slow. They rely on intercellular signalling with movement of neurotransmitters across mulitple synapses by diffusion. By comparison to the speed of light, thoughts are positively glacial.

The "speed of light" is better thought of as the "maximum speed of causation" which is a pretty hard and fast limit

Yeah, your right. I should think about things more before I say stuff.

my... well, my speed of thought it's, fast and quick (and stuff)

and yeah

"A bit chicken and egg." - perhaps you should start with this question. Hint, it's the egg.

Smokey Gem (194 D)

@ Ogion You are near what I am trying to figure, I know we can get a gist on measuring chemical synaps impulses and electical signals .But is that a simple measure of cuasative effect of thought or creation of the thought.

IE speed of light is the fastest measure in our observable universe .

but is thought an abstract that resides outside of that which is why we as structures in and of the universe can think of abstats like why does it all exist.

no I dont want to discuss the why.. but is it possible that thought exists then becomes measurable in synaptic and phsiological responses . If so how is that proved or disproved.

I don't even know what 'the speed of thought' is. It's a malformed question.

A more accurate and relevant term may be "nerve conduction velocity".

The speed of Royal Succession is faster than the speed of light, and what is monarchy but an idea? Clearly thought is faster :)

Rumor is faster than light.
Exectuor (100 D)
27 Dec 17 UTC
Thought cannot be faster than light. Your thoughts travel over neurons in the brain. Which are basically very small electrical pulses. The problem is that these pulses happen in a medium that is much much slower than in a vacuum. There's stuff in the way that makes it slower than if the signal was traveling in empty space. So with that in mind, our thoughts, our actions, are much slower than the speed of light.
Smokey Gem (194 D)
29 Dec 17 UTC
@ Executuor.

Are we simply then oberving the physical manifasetation of thought in the universe. Ie the execution of thought. there is no way to measure when the thought originated. Like measuring the future we cant actually properly measure anything until it has happened.

Arson = socially progressive
I realized that based on the cultural constraints of the criminal justice system that burning things represents the circle of life. If a forest burns down - it comes back stronger. We burned down Atlanta, it came back way cooler look at the Falcons. We accidentally burned Chicago, now its great. Lets just burn the world.
