We no longer allow games with "wait for orders" as that feature was often abused.

Apologies if I’m wading into an intractable disagreement like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie. But isn’t the “abuse” of wait-for-orders solved by putting a power who has missed its deadline into civil disorder immediately?

I guess that danger there is a very long pause waiting for a replacement. In the old Judge server days it could be weeks or months.
Not sure the right setting (over in vDip) but want to make sure I’m understanding correctly.

I think a possible option beside WFO is to allow WFO buuuuuut if all players vote not to wait except the one who hasn’t entered the orders then oh well. My reasoning is that unless you’re the leader someone will inherently not benefit from you missing your turn.

I have wfo on in a game :p it's definitely possible.

A quick look at said WFO game reminds me why that option is not available to all tbh...

That could be a decent solution, if someone would code it for us. The problem with WFO as it is is that all it does is leave a game perpetually hanging if someone hasn't entered orders, meaning people abuse it, games become horribly disjointed, and take forever even if replacements are manually found. The sample for these conclusions is the vast majority of games on this site that have ever had WFO on - Not least a bunch of tournaments in ye olden days.

HR is right, though, Demon. In our WFO game, no one's readying up and most are waiting until the (nominal) deadline before even saving orders.

What. I never ready up for any game and I usually enter in moves at the very end with or without wfo. Also how is any of that relevant
