Breaking News
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA
CLINTON and the DNC paid for the fake Russia Dossier and probably broke the law. They also approved a deal to give US uranium to RUSSIA. Special Prosecutor will be appointed to investigate this corruption.

The Lion King is a statement about socialism
My gripe with the Lion King is that Scar is the hero. He overthrows a fucked up bourgoise and saves thousands of Hyenas living in poverty. After Simba flees Scar is totally written as converting the kingdom into a starving military dictatorship. This is absolutely a false representation of the amazing Utopia he envisioned. He said be prepared. I was ready. Why didnt his socialist revolution succeed?

Murder Mystery Recommendations
What are your favourite murder mystery themed games (video games, not board games - don't even say clue), movies, shows, or books? Recommend them to me

Don't know if this is quite what you are looking for, but The Alienist by Caleb Carr is really atmospheric (if you are into gritty Victorian era stuff). TNT is doing it as a series and will probably ruin it... Should look good though.

I guess it depends what you mean... It's not technically your job to figure out who the murderer is in these games (your character will do it as you go along) but these are essentially murder mysteries in the same way novels and films are; immersing you in the story as the character you control is trying to figure it out.

The Wolf Among Us (the best game Telltale ever made, imo)
Heavy Rain
Zero Escape: 999, VLR, & ZTD (although you already know these ones Demon)

and a couple that challenge the way you think about murder mysteries...

Hatoful Boyfriend (BBL Ending)
The Sexy Brutale

Lastly, it probably doesn't fall under murder mystery, but I'd recommend Oxenfree anyway.

Phoenix Wright games. Not traditional murder-mystery but still very enjoyable and goofy fun.

The Westing Game is a fun (childrens) mystery that is light and enjoyable.

Mystic River is great if you are looking for some soul crushing despair to go along with a mystery. Dennis Lehane is a great writer - though I wouldn't say most of his works are murder mysteries - even calling Mystic River that is a stretch.

I second Heavy Rain for a detective type mystery, and Sexy Brutale was a lot of fun - though I'm still in the honeymoon phase.

One show that I loved that kind of was out of the mainstream, was the Death Note anime. It was a bit cheesy, but actually more intelligent than a lot of the crap that got on TV

note: NOT the Netflix death note... that I heard was horrible... and it looks horrible. Also, I never finished death note because I got kinda sad at one point and also I have ADD and I started a different Tv marathon, but it was pretty good while it lasted

I've played Heavy Rain, love it. And all the Ace Attorney games. I don't know if Death Note is a murder mystery..

@DO

I suppose it's not a murder-mystery in the typical sense... are you thinking more of a whodunnit set up?

L.A. Noire is not specifically a murder mystery game, but there is at least one murder case.

I played The Wolf Among Us, but was so disappointed by the end of Chapter1 that I stopped :(

oh, and the best Murder Mystery of all time is The Hollow Man by John Dickson Carr. Also doubles as the best locked room mystery as well.

warning; he is a fairly blatant misogynist at times, but these were the 1930s and things like misogyny and naziism were just so "in"

Claesar - Disappointed by the quality of the story or by the events at the end of that chapter? If it's the latter... you need to go back and play the rest. Things are not as they seem.
Claesar (4665 D)

By the events.. Interesting.

In that case, I'll put it on my list! For when I no longer feel overwhelmed with the amount of Dip I got myself into..

Not board games? Ok here are some board games.

Mysterium is pretty great. Has some amazing artwork, and it's a bit like dixit but cooperative and spooooky.

Kill Doctor Lucky is ok I guess. It takes place directly before the events of Cluedo. The biggest mystery is how long the game will drag on for.

Tragedy Looper sounds cool, but I haven't played it. Pretty much groundhog day crossed with a murder mystery. Players have to deduce how to prevent it a tragedy by playing through a "day" multiple times.

@Demon - If you enjoyed Heavy Rain, you might also like Fahrenheit - but be sure to play it with a group of friends so you can laugh at its plotline. Fighting the incarnation of the internet to save the world from a Mayan cult was hilarious, especially since the game tries to take itself so seriously.

BOOKS:

Anything Conan Doyle will be fun. I have fond memories of reading my Sherlock Holmes stories.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
Poirot mystery. Pretty straightforward plot.
------------------------------------------------------
MOVIES:

I'm not really a fan of mysteries, but I've seen a few. There's also a bunch of Hitchcock movies you could watch.

Julia's Eyes (Spanish with subtitles)
A woman with degenerating vision tries to find out who killed her sister (who was also blind and who may have committed suicide).

Pietà (Korean with subtitles)
More of a revenge story than a murder mystery, although there is lots of maiming and murder. A woman shows up and claims to be the main character's mother. The main character is a ruthless mob enforcer. They start to develop a relationship.

The Constant Gardener (Hollywood this time!)
Ralph Fiennes tries to figure out why his wife (Rachel Weisz) was murdered.

Chinatown
Jack Nicholson the private investigator goes around unravelling mysteries. There is murder. And other things.

Silence of the Lambs
Jodie Foster's FBI Agent interviews Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter, trying to get into the mind of a serial killer. Men looking at women.

Deathtrap
Watched it when I was a kid. It was hilarious. Lots of scheming and stuff. Famous people are in it.

Town of Salem is basically an online and dressed up, really quick version of mafia, not exactly murder mystery, but I guess that depends on how the background story goes right? :)

Catalonia Referendum
Catalonia intended to hold a referendum on independence from Spain. The Spanish high court ruled it would be illegal. Catalonia decided to hold it anyway, and police are attacking people intending to cast votes.

Rabbits for Capt. Brad
Rabbits was cursed ever since they was stolen from the Native Americans. All the 'white' and 'brown' and 'black' and 'asian' rabbits (and any other non-native folks) should pack up and leave the pet cemetary to join Colonel von Brad in a potato peeling adventure. Who wants to be the rear admiral?
