I think everyone else would think it's equally ridiculous because Rhaegar had a son with Elia named Aegon. The Targaryen's have a lot of unoriginal names but come on.

Yeah...a bit disappointed in the name. But remember (f)Aegon doesn't exist in the show, and we currently know 4 male Targ names (Rhaegar, Aegon, Aemon, and Viserys....well, I suppose we know Baelor and Maegor too, but nobody really remembers that. So it had to be a name we know. Also I can't remember if Aegon was mentioned by name....I know Rhaenys was. Either way, sloppy, but I can see why they did it (show viewers are dumb).

I believe that the maesters will believe the High Septon's diary. But that marriage bomb might be important enough to make the claim believable. It throws to shreds the legitimacy of Roberts rebellion. Bran proving it is a bit of deus ex machina, but might work for the show. Jon riding a dragon might also work

Because if you recall during the Dance, they each tried to get non-Targaryens to ride dragons, but we're largely unsuccessful in doing so. Pretty much the only ones that could we're bastard targs. Dragons killed the rest. (If I'm not remembering AWOIAF correctly, please correct me)

If Jon had massive popular support amongst the powers that be, then the ramblings of the creepy cripple and pulling a dragon from the stone may just be enough to fudge him in as king. Outside of the north I don't know where that support would come from, though. I can't see Danny giving up the throne after all the effort she put in. I can't see Blondie wanting anything other than his death. I don't even see Jon wanting the job.

If anything, knowing he's the rightful king is making him less likely to become king as it makes marrying into the role problematic without making inheriting the role particularly likely.

Not that it matters. Arya will kill whoever takes the throne and rule in their face regardless who wins.

Nah, the common folk are used to following whoever is in charge, most of the more ambitious nobles have been culled, and the fundamentalist religious types don't seem to have established any significant roots. Plenty of land going spare to hand out to loyalists, and fewer mouths to feed than you usually have to cope with in winter. Pretty good time to be taking over, if you ask me.

The major houses would be in massive civil disorder.

Martells would be ruled by Darkstar at this point if he existed in show.

Tyrells would be split up and mired in regional power struggles with no discernable ruling family.

The entire south would be in a state of total disorder as its warden Randall Tarly also died.

The vale has all its men in the north.

The riverlands houses are all totally decimated.

The lannisters holdings just got wiped the hell out by Unsullied

Its a good time to rule over a kingdom in ruins.

Dany is Jon's salt wife.

With the lack of regional rulership, whoever sits on the Iron Throne will have more central governance responsibility than any of their predecessors.

Southern tactic suggestion - lace the fields with dragonglass spikes - white walkers step on the dragonglass and poof, problem solved.

I think they have to actually be pierced by it, which means they could just pick them up and clear the field. I mean, if they can pull chains....


But bb is right. Show Westeros is in ruins, at least from a Great House standpoint. All of the Great Houses besides Stark are either extinct, or probably will be after the war.
