Would anyone be interested in joining a game with some friends of mine and I?
I have 3 friends that I would like to introduce to the game, but can't seem to talk anyone else into playing with us for a full Ancient Med game. Just a casual, low-bet game, probably 2 day turns.

Hehe, Trump just bowed to Saudi king and curtsied too
Just another example of Trump hypocrisy. He slammed Obama for merely bowing. The curtsy was bigly over the top.

Juggernaut is actually a horrible alliance
Despite the fearmongering ive seen in Press games about Juggernauts over the past 5 years ive been here...I cant help but note its low rate of success and how its paranoia often benefits France or England most. Please share games where Juggernauts fail miserably. But also include ones which work out in a 2wd (if there even is such a situtation)

Is it Treason to sympathize with the Confederacy?
Shouldnt it be treason to sympathize with the Confederacy? We fought a war and defeated them. Hundreds of thousands died more than any war fought by America. For people who still wish the south had won- chant the south shall rise again or fly its flags isnt this treason?

Should otherkin be forced to give up their human rights?
Are there any otherkin on this site? I'm genuinely curious to understand this culture more. If you identify as something non-human, do you think you have a right to get the privileges that all humans deserve? Or do you believe you're in a separate category and thus have different standards and base rules to start off with?

Interesting read
I'd like to hear what the right wing thinkers (and not trolls) think of this article, as well as the liberals here.

Mostly a criticism of market liberalism: https://jacobinmag.com/2017/05/handmaids-tale-margaret-atwood-trump-abortion-theocracy

There are people who disagree with me, lotsof them infact, whose views i would like to hear on this criticism of the current left-wing criticism of Trump. It is critical of our modern society and how we are engaging with it in unrealistic ways. I'm sure there are Conservative minds here who would parse these ideas rather differently than i do...

Well if they don't exist, then the liberals may still have opinions on market liberalism vs socialism... So at least this thread can go somewhere, but i'm not sure it will be as informative.

Like preaching to the choir...
Hauta (1618 D(S))

ofc, you won't get any conservative analysis. I took a look. The article is consistent with my view that the top 1% sets everyone against each other in order to perpetuate their hegemony (@Manwe, that means "to stay on top"). In a world where all the goods and services that are needed can be produced by less than all of the people, it makes sense for the top 1% to get the bottom 99% to reproduce less by making kids economically unviable. Then, hire women instead of men because you can pay them less; if their husbands are unemployed (or if the women are unmarried), they will seldom ask for raises.

A criticism ( by the "right wingers") of the "left wingers" criticisms of Trump.. I can hardly wait, but there could be so much more..how about a left wingers criticisms of the criticisms of the right wingers about the criticisms of the left wingers criticisms of Trump ?
On the benefits of unregulated capitalism.. I am enjoying one right now..an internet scam..they've pinched someone I knows info, now trying to scam me, ...claiming this person is in Istanbul, Turkey, and that there has been a fatal car accident involving their cousins and they've asked for 2,700 Euros to get a three year old kids broken leg fixed. I've sent back an apparently simple reply that has a trap, and said it's easier for me to transfer US dollars and would $3,000 US be enough ?
Zmaj (215 D(B))

The article contains ridiculous claims that have nothing to do with the left or the right.

(1) Women are being compelled to have less children by financial and social hardships.

As opposed to third-world countries, where incomparably greater financial and social hardships apparently compel women to have more children. Right...

(2) The market command to be free, to be creative, to be flexible, is very bad.

The command to be free? Contradiction in terms anyone? Oh, I forgot. Freedom is slavery. Orwell saw things much better than Atwood ever did.

(3) The pressure of the market to make profit for others and call it freedom.

Here we go again. The pressure of being free. You can make profit for yourself, stupid. Yes, I know, it's hard. Look up "effort" in a dictionary.

The summary of the entire article: "I'd love to have children, but I don't want any responsibility or hardship associated with that." Too bad it's not only the author's view. It's the view of hundreds of millions of lazy slobs in the West, men and women alike.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

@JECE nope, never heard of Jacobin before, and i don't necessarily agree with everything in this article, but it does have a nice fresh feel to it, possibly more worth disecting than the average dren.
Hauta (1618 D(S))

@Zmaj, when people are worried that their offspring won't survive, they tend to produce lots of offspring. Additionally, in such countries, there are other factors that might be gained from extra children. Maybe one of them gets lucky and can bring the rest of the family up. Kinda like buying extra lottery tickets when you're poor.

Where offspring are expected to survive and starving in old age is not much of a concern, there is less incentive to pop out a bunch of kids.
Zmaj (215 D(B))
16 May 17 UTC
@Hauta

"Where offspring are expected to survive and starving in old age is not much of a concern, there is less incentive to pop out a bunch of kids."

That's exactly right. Nobody's compelled to have less children. It's just that people don't feel like it.

"@Manwe, that means "to stay on top""

So, we have gotten to the point where attempts are made to belittle me and discredit my opinions before I have even read a thread, let alone posted in it. In a way, I feel honored. My contributions must have a greater impact than I previously thought to provoke such actions.
Hauta (1618 D(S))
16 May 17 UTC
@Manwe, I'll concede that much, sure. But it's no worse than the good natured ribbing I give CAPT_Brad.
Hauta (1618 D(S))
16 May 17 UTC
@Zmaj, that's why the incentives of the top 1% are so insidious. They have "secretly" unleveled the playing field making ppl think that it is their own decision to forego children.
MajorMitchell (1605 D)

Hauta, I'm ready to believe you are a decent young chap, but perhaps lacking in experience. If you truly understood just what is involved in the caper of siring offspring via the loins of the fire breathing MemSahib, Her Indoors usually lolling about on a sofa eating cakes, let alone the raising & educating of said offspring, then you might appreciate the "minimalist approach" I determined upon as a necessary and valid survival strategy. I refer you to my recent post in the meaning of life thread.
