Worst possible 1v1 matchup
What would be the most unbalanced 1v1 matchup possible on the Classic board? I could see England v Russia being awful for England, especially with Russia enjoying 4 builds/turn.

Scoring System Proposal
I don't know if this has been suggested but:
1. If there is a winner they get the whole pot
2. If there is a draw, it's always a seven* way draw regardless of elimination.

Best way to learn code
I want to learn how to code, but am having trouble deciding where to start. Their are many free resources, online classes, boot camps, etc. I would prefer to teach myself, but lack the knowledge to know what language I should be learning first and so on. Any tips from the experienced code writers here on WebDip?

Stalemate Gaming
Is there a rule against holding a stalemate indefinitely even though the situation is clear? I think he's hoping the rest of us give up and leave, which if it isn't against the rules yet then it should be.

PPSC discussion thread:
I don't particularly care for PPSC. But saw that another thread was having this discussion as a sidebar and thought it fair to start a discussion thread. There is reasonable support for PPSC and regardless of the majority opinion the minority's should be heard.

Abolish Sum-Of-Squares scoring
Ok, so I understand some people don't like PPSC and don't want it back. I disagree. BUT let's talk about SOS instead. It's a terrible scoring system and is directly contrary to the rulebook.

New Scoring System Proposal
I don’t know if this has been suggested but:
1. In draws have everyone alive share the pot equally (As they should because SoS is garbage)
2. In a solo, the soloist gains a portion of the pot equal to 18* divided by the number of centers controlled by the soloist or survivors (but not neutral centers or those of resigned powers) and the survivors split the remainder proportionally based on their center count.
*Or however many

1920s Germany...

Are you joking by chance...?
fiedler (1293 D)

Maybe kiddo, maybe...
"hey genius, the US military can defeat the rest of the world put together by lunchtime." -Assuming they're willing to sacrifice their entire continent to nuclear weapons, sure.

"It is common knowledge amongst those with more than a few brain cells strung together that the US can print as much money as it ever wants..." -That would be an incredibly interesting result, I hope they can beat the inflation of currencies like yen and won.

"oh I should probably make the point sharper for the duller - nobody is ever going to call teh US on their loans - they have no suasion to do so. " -Maybe the current debtors can never get their loans back, but that achieves the zero trust I was talking about. Who on Earth (literally) would give them loans if they blatantly refused to pay their existing ones? It would be interesting to see how the US manages without any ability to secure loans for a good 5-10 years due to trust issues. They'd have to be a massive overhaul on how things are run for the government to not implode. Hence, interesting.

"Assuming they're willing to sacrifice their entire continent to nuclear weapons, sure."
- well that's rather the point of MAD, no such war will ever happen.

1920 Germany... is the exact opposite case to the US, they were a defeated power and the US was controlling their banks and deliberately causing hyper-inflation - and killing by poverty not a few men, women, and children. You know, before they hit on the idea of bankrolling the Nazis to go to war against those commies who were getting much too strong. Thereby effectively destroying the creative output of an entire generation of eurasia.

I see where you are coming from.... and it's completely the wrong way to look at things. Economies are not these self-sustaining models they bullshit you about in school. An economy is PURELY the result of the prevailing political situation.

'Who on Earth (literally) would give them loans if they blatantly refused to pay their existing ones?'
- well the US can just print money - the only thing that matters is that other nations accept US currency as valuable. This is where the power of the military industrial complex comes in. Other nations are simply forced to buy things and take loans in US dollars. If they don't the US either pressures the leaders to conform or just replaces them.

Thanks, Marx, I'll consider that during the revolution against the bourgeoisie.
Okay, I'm looking forward to the money printing. Let's hope they can top the Zimbabwean dollar.

Ha - that's funny since Zimbabwe uses the US dollar as currency now and sells their old money as souvenirs, or was that the point?
Yeah, that was the point. I'm hoping they can top the Zimbabwean dollar in terms of ridiculous hyperinflation. Of course, the current record holder for inflation is post WWII Hungary, but that isn't a fair comparison because they had a major war before the hyperinflation.
The economic fallout from such an international currency as USD becoming inflated to a ridiculous extent would be amazing. I honestly hope that people like fiedler are the ones giving economic advice when it looks like shit is hitting the fan with US debt.
I mean, someone might just seize the means of production in the confusion.
But back on topic, I don't get why people are so mad at Trump for upholding a core election promise. It was ludicrous, yes, but you only have yourselves to blame for such a ludicrous event to occur.

Going Away Game for the World Map
I wasn't a huge fan of it, but we should do a going away game for the World Map, similar to the Inaugural Known World 901 game we're running. Same deal, we get a mod to make the game the last one before they officially shut it off.
