Kazakhstan on the Modern II Map
Er. The Caspian Sea works as an ocean spot, correct? And Kazakhstan is adjacent to it.
Why can't I convoy to Kazakhstan then? I can convoy to Caucasus, Volga, etc. but not Kazakhstan. Even with a fleet in the Caspian, moving an army from Iran to Kazakhstan works without asking for "via land" or "via convoy".

Is this a known error/glitch/bug?

I would love to see the option to have in-game messages sent to your phone via text or text alerts when a season is about to expire. Thoughts?

Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

I do but in between that's 15 minutes of unmonitored time. Plus I would know when press comes if I fall asleep.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
30 Aug 14 UTC
The press thing would be tough to do in anonymous games. It's already designed around not letting you know exactly when the message came through unless you see it immediately.
jmspool (100 D)
01 Sep 14 UTC
Anonymous isn't hard: all presses come from the same caller I'd, with the country code in the SMS. The receiver wouldn't get any id of the sender.

I'm not sure why you need to obscure the time. Wouldn't putting it in the receiver's time zone do the trick?
cardcollector (1270 D)

As for what bo said, he is right. We can see when people are online by the green circle. Should we get instant alerts as to when messages are sent in anonymous games, it may be easier to deduce who that player is. (That is, if you can narrow it down based on board, points (few people have over 1k or 2k points, so you could check to see if split or madmarx are online ;) ) or playstyle (some people don't play live, or play only gunboat) , or even if it was a game set up by friends or mods. Ex: SoW, GR challenges, etc.) but I think that alerts for non anon games would be nice. An app to organize this on mobile devices would be better.

Oops is right!

@cardcollector: I used to take time to determine who the sender was based on incoming messages but it became more of a hassle than it was worth. Plus having the info wasn't particularly useful past 1901.

"I would love to see the option to have (...) text alerts when a season is about to expire."

My phone has this very sophisticated app called "alarm clock".
That does the trick perfectly. All you need to do is programm the right time.

I'd be happy with emails for each press. Dpjudge does this and it's great.

You can randomize a delay for email or SMS presses, so as make it harder to identify the send time.

The Great Pot Debate
No, not another de-criminalisation thread.
Just a suggestion that, for replacement players, the contribution of points to the 'pot' should be abated by the amount of the defaulting player's initial contribution. So, with an original bet size of, say, 40, a 6-SC power would cost just 24 to take over, while a 3-SC power would cost nothing.
This would provide an incentive for substitutes to come forward.

Can someone explain to me, why people cheat. If you cheat and win, did you really win? If your accomplishment is not on your own merits, what did you accomplish? This game is a great learning vehicle, what reward is there for cheating?

I just noticed that I've spent the last two months on the overall top-100 GR list. I joined about a year-and-a-half ago, so it's taken a while (I only play full-press games, usually with long phases), but it's pretty sweet.

Congratulations, me.

Mahmoud Abbas: Hamas to Blame for the Prolongation of the War
