A year old
I can't believe it's been a year since I've joined. It's been fast, but I feel like I've been here longer on this site than just a year. I like it here, and I will remain here for a very long time.
So, I want to hear other webdiplomacy members stories of the past and how much has changed.

Resign votes
It's been suggested often that there should be an option for players to concede their games without going into civil disorder and ruining the game for the others. Here's a mechanism that I think would be elegant, and not very difficult to implement. Suggestions welcome!

My game is http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=132706 and I am Rome. I have an army at Tarraconensis and a fleet in the Ligurian Sea, and both are adjacent to Baleares. The army is able to move to Baleares and so is the fleet, but when I go to support one unit in with the other, it does not let me. Specifics are in my reply.

Hello, I am new to the site. I am having trouble telling different players pieces apart. Is there a way to make the pieces the same color as the players country?

@anlari -- As Italy you were really a jerk in this game. Have the balls to announce ahead of time that you are going for 34 centers ... don't just string the game out for 20 game years toying with your opponents who are playing by the normal rules. I wish there was a way I could ensure that I never end up in a game with you again.

How many French speakers do we have here?
I have been and still am taking French for a few years in high school, but it's piss poor. I'm thinking about setting up a French-only game where I can enjoy a little Diplomacy while immersing myself in the language for a few minutes a day.

Anyone farm tilapia?
Anyone farm tilapia?
Jamiet99uk (1307 D)

Quite a few people, it would seem. There is a growing industry for the aquacultural production of tilapia. Why ask here? Do you thin this is a forum of fish farmers?

@Jamiet99uk I was more hoping than thinking. Do you ask a barber if you need a haircut? It's better to get anecdotal information from a disinterested set of random people than experts, advocates and opponents.

For what it's worth, I ate some farmed tilapia a couple of days ago and I had the stinkiest farts in a long time. So did my fiancée. :) I didn't have a control group of wild tilapia eaters so I can't exactly claim causation of it being farmed - nor even that tilapia itself was necessarily the cause. Still, you wanted random anecdotal stories! :)
I don't farm any kind of fish. A few months ago, I looked into the feasability of farming my own catfish on a one-family usage scale. There is ample information online, including many youtube videos. I suspect the situation for tilapia is comparable.

Most catfish farmers go for ponds. This requires considerable acreage, but it is the most economical way to go. If you do it right, you can synergize other home-farming operations (like raising chickens) so your waste and by products from one operation can help fuel another operation. There also is a smaller-scale process for raising catfish in a succession of barrels/plastic garbage cans.

I decided both processes were too laborious to be worthwhile for me.

I tried planting a trout once, but it never grew. Maybe ill try malaria next. Should I start with frozen, or do you think fresh will give better results?

Haha talapia Autocorrects to malaria. That's funny.
You'll probably get better results with fresh, incubated in a vat of monkey blood and kidneys.
