Unpause vote does nothing
In this game:
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=111946

Out unpause vote does absolutely nothing. It won't process that we've clicked unpause, so the game simply will not continue. Any ideas?

COUNTRY B

Stand-off
Don't the inverse moves of BUL-CON and CON-BUL bounce and therefore cancel, allowing GRE to dislodge BUL?

Is there a unit moving from Bul-Con as well?
captainmeme (1632 DMod)
11 Mar 13 UTC
If so, everything would bounce.
I tend to think I know all the moves, but this one is currently confusing.

How do I get realpolitik?
captainmeme (1632 DMod)
11 Mar 13 UTC
Actually, if not everything would bounce as well, so it doesn't really matter.

Look at it from a different perspective. Country A is self-bouncing in Bulgaria with a single support for each unit, including the one moving from Con-Bul. Bul-Con is also single support, so it does nothing.

i vote stand off
My instinctual logic would indicate that those two opposite and equal moves would be whats bouncing, laving it free for the other unit to move in. Is CON really being supported to BUL? No, because it is wiped by the move from BUL-CON.

Anyway, I will learn this now. Just made a set of moves based on this faulty logic and really screwed myself.

Even if there was no unit in Bul:
Gre-Bul supported by Con
Rum-Bul supported by Ser

they would bounce, even if they are the same country. So adding a second country, that doesn't provide additional supports or cut any previous supports, wouldn't effect the outcome.
It does provide additional support. Assume country B had ANK as well and added a second support. CON would be dislodge and BUL would be taken .
Alderian (2425 D(S))

I'm assuming BUL-CON is also ordered.

CON-BUL and BUL-CON bounce each other.
CON-BUL and GRE-BUL bounce each other.

I think I see what you mean by your instinctual logic. But to implement that logic would require a rule that says that support is used up when countered by support in the other direction, and no such rule exists.

Out of curiosity, how much of a difference is there between Realpolitik and jDip? I have the latter and have used it to run scenarios as well as for ftf games with my friends. Are there any really good reasons to switch?

What doea your name mean?
Some people have obvious references to historical or fictional characters, others are some form of their name (like mine, my name really is Phil) but for those with more cryptic names, I'm curious where they came from.

Some that I know from previous posts - draugnar is Tolkien elvish for some kind of wolf, Nigee is a name one of his friends used to call him, etc. But what about Bosox, mapu, sbyvyl, redhouse, abgemacht, etc. ?

The Most Conservative Contest
The question is: Who on the WebDip forums is the most Conservative? It shouldn't be too hard to figure out, as there are only a handful of Conservatives on this site (Krellin, Draug, ConservativeMan and myself come to mind). So in order to figure it out, we will post our positions on the issues here, and let the others decide.

Who really cares?
Could it be that no matter what we say about world problems, the fact that nothing is ever done about them is due to our own lack of antipathy or indifference towards these issues.
