I am routinely shocked...
... at how frequently I find myself in conversations with people twenty or more years' my senior, only to sadly learn that they still believe completely in silly concepts such as good and evil or better and worse.

Does this bother anybody else like it does me?

In This Winter of Discontent--Richard III Found
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/03/king-richard-iii-skeleton-bones_n_2610707.html?utm_hp_ref=world&amp ""It will be a whole new era for Richard III," the society's Lynda Pidgeon said."
(Nope I'm...I'm pretty sure he's still gonna be dead...dead and famous for Lizzie telling Will, "Here, take this gold and write a play talking shit about this guy my grandpa hated.")

Highly rated world game
It has been awhile since I've been a part of a world map game where the competition was of the highest caliber, and that game was marred by all kinds of interference. I'd like to see another one given a go! Who's interested?

Game Pausing
I was wondering how a game would go about being unpaused. A mod came in and said "(jmo1121109): Dear members, It appears several of you know each other in real life. ... This game will be paused until we can get this sorted out. ..." Why can't we keep playing? gameID=109485

Standard & Poors - criminals in suits
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/21331018
This story has cheered me up no end .... I demand justice !!
semck83 (229 D(B))
05 Feb 13 UTC
It's a civil suit, so even assuming it succeeds, which is a medium to long shot, it would not make anybody "criminals in suits."
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
05 Feb 13 UTC
So are you saying that criminals cannot have civil suits brought against them.
It's not the lawsuit that makes them criminals, it's what they don't do when they are supposed to be working that is criminal
semck83 (229 D(B))

Oh, OK. I assumed that the title of your thread was referring in some material way to the content of the article, not just expressing your opinion.

So what criminal laws did they violate, in your opinion?
semck83 (229 D(B))

(Admittedly I'm being a little unfair, or at least pushing hard -- I've given threads provocative titles before, myself).

Fraud .... I'm not saying they acted alone but they were giving out triple A ratings to packaged debt products like confetti at a gypsy wedding. It was their job to know what was being sold before rating it, in their case ignorance is`definitely not an acceptable defence, something bad was happening and I'm disappointed they can just buy their way out of this just like Goldman Sachs did.
In my opinion if you want to clean up banking, jail the fraudsters, don't let them hide behind a Corporation. It wasn't the Company but people within it that committed the offences, they should be culpable and should be brought to justice, the same in the UK with the LIBOR rate fixing scandal, people should be jailed.

Incompetence is not a criminal offense in business. What statute did they violate. Fraud requires intent. Not being aware is not fraud, just incompetence.

You should know by now that rating agencies represent corporate interests and political interests. Buyer beware

S&P was not the only credit rating firm that thought mortgages were safe prior to the crisis, and based on their performance between 2003 and 2007 they were pretty nice investments.

Why do Americans even have a Senate when they don't care for its output? The Levin-Coburn report is the ultimate account of the role of credit agencies in the financial crisis. They knew the mortgage market was going down, it just wasn't in their interest to stop milking the ratings its customers wanted to get. Screwing over the public is not a criminal offense.

Left? How do you concede? Or go into civil disorder or whatever?
How do you concede? I see Left at times when players have conceded, but I don't know how it's done. Any help is much appreciated.

Please Unpause Game 109378
We paused Game 109378, and now we can't seem to unpause it. Everyone reports the same thing: they click on Unpaude, but the button stays in the Vote column. Could we have a Mod unpause the game, or are we doing something wrong?

Live Diplomacy
How difficult would it be to make a real-time game similar to diplomacy? Where your troops move slowly to their objectives over the course of a day or so, and with more flexibility of orders (co-ordinates rather than provinces) etc?

Multiple Accounts....
I recently discovered that my friend (Shmoop/dmindlin824/olminlin) actually has multiple accounts. In one game, he even played with two of his accounts at once (and still lost...). What would be the appropriate action to take at this point?
