A clinic bombing a day keeps the baby killers away.
If you want the right to life for unborn babies, outspend the liberal baby murderers and yell louder than them. No real arguing tactics is going to work so let's stoop down to their level.

MSNBC at it again apparently
You know, I can watch CNN or Fox, and feel there is at least a silver of truth, but when MSNBC says anything, I feel like its 100% a lie.

What should I write my senior thesis on?
Interests include food security, sub-Saharan Africa, agriculture, nutrition, development aid, conflict, military intervention, human rights, climate change. I have a few ideas but I'd love to hear what you think a paper should be written on.

"and the subject of my thesis is that there is no metaphysical way to conceive of accidents as existing independent of any substance in which those accidents can inhere."

Cool, thanks. Seems to make sense to me.

Aw semck, you're such a sweetheart, always looking out for my fallacious or weak arguments! :)

Although actually, rallinator, isn't this

"and it would be very odd to say that the accident of bread-taste now inheres in the subject of Christ's body."

exactly what they say? If so, it may be "very odd," but why does that make it wrong? (Again -- I'm totally playing devil's advocate here, because I don't accept transubstantiation for various reasons, including some like this).
semck83 (229 D(B))

lol, fair point dub.

My concern was just with misapplications that could be made of the same argument. For example, one could say, "Don't say that the electron is a particle AND a wave! Jesus said, 'let your yes be yes, and your no be no'!"

I do, as I attempted to say, think that, modulo the words of Christ, your argument was essentially right.
semck83 (229 D(B))

Never mind, rollinator, I see I was wrong (I found a RC site saying the following:

"The accidents, then, remain; but not, of course, as accidents of Christ's body. It is not his body which has the whiteness and the roundness and the softness. The accidents once held in existence by the substance of bread, and those others once held in existence by the substance of wine, are now held in existence solely by God's will to maintain them. "

). My mistake, therefore. I withdraw my prior argument.
rallinator (100 D)

@semck: No, the Catholics don't say that at all. If they did, that might actually make sense, but every Catholic would find it heretical to say that Christ's glorified and resurrected body has the accident of bread-taste. They say instead that the accident inheres in the super-accident of quantity. So, the bread-taste inheres in the physical space which the body of Christ occupies, but not the body itself. The metaphysical problem is, again, that it is not right to say that accidents can inhere in anything other than substances. The Catholic philosophers will call this a metaphysical miracle, but one might say that God cannot act sustain accidents in existence without substances to inhere in as the final cause of accidents is to be inherent, and for them not to inhere would be for them to be out their natural place in the perfect metaphysical order of God's creation.

Write about what you know. Which topic are you the best educated on? This thesis has to be something you can prove, "I have a few ideas" then what are you asking us for? figure out which idea you know the most about and have the most experience in and then narrow it down.

how's that??

sorry if misused the word or something lol.

Anyway I've done some further research on the changing food habits thing, and I think I'm going to pursue research into changing food habits in Senegal, and looking at the possible impact of climate change on future food habits. I have a few pretty good contacts in Senegal that may be able to help so I think it's a pretty rich topic.

Opinions? As the thread subject suggests, I disagree with the vast majority of the points presented in the article. Very curious what you all think about this. The blog article comments are interesting as well, as is usually the case.

WW2 Variant (new thread) Preview ***
Here is the very very first version of my WW2 map to look at. I already posted a thread about this but basically the I just need some advice on the map. Is there anything that strikes you as obviously geographically or historically inaccurate at this stage? Before I go adding supply centres and things.

Unlike Syria and North Korea, which did in fact open up to criticism.
