He is simply incapable of seeing the moronic words of fools. You may now troll away on this thread, which I will, likewise, ignore.

And having thrown this bomb, I will ignore this thread and let the silly trolls cry out in vain once again. You're so easily manipulated...and I'd say you know who you are, but you might truly be too stupid to recognize how I manipulate you.

Noob Question: Playing for Fun versus Blood
Are there a lot of people or "that one person per game" who plays for blood and not fun? And pretty much ruins it for others. Is that typically to be expected in these games 100%?

Anyone here a miner? Are Bitcoins the currency of the future, or just a great ponzi scheme for people good with computers, but bad at math and economics? Does anyone even know what Bitcoins are? Thoughts?

Good game I guess. After Egypt and Carthage just disappeared I knew I was in trouble. You honestly should have just drawn, Rome, the game became unfair at that point.

Are players allowed to threaten delay of game because they want in on a draw?
I am in a game where a player is about to lose because he stabbed me and I won't let him in on a draw now. Despite the inevitable, he is taking the full phase-length to enter moves to be a pain in the ass. Previously, he was entering moves immediately after phase start. Is this meta-gaming allowed, or can we somehow get him banned / speed things up?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
09 Nov 12 UTC
It's assholish but allowed. Don't sign up for long phases if you don't want to play them.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
09 Nov 12 UTC
how could this possibly be meta-gaming...

"5. The Pause/Unpause feature is not a diplomatic tool
The pause is there to stop players missing their orders, but is not part of the game. As such pausing or unpausing should not be used for diplomatic gain, such as refusing to unpause unless other players will draw the game. If it is being abused staff may step in to sort it out."
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))

He's not pausing.

Players are allowed to take the entire phase-length for any reason they choose.
ulytau (541 D)
09 Nov 12 UTC
Yes, he's not pausing. Does the rule regulating the diplomatic usage of time prohibit using the full phase-length? No. What does it mean for using the full phase-length? It is not regulated in any way.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
09 Nov 12 UTC
Agreed.

Although unlikely, he could also be bluffing you. Maybe he's got a paper due and is taking full length turn in all eight of his current games. In some games he fessed up to his fellow players. In one game he asked and received a pause. In your game he decides to use it to his benefit and let's you think he's griefing you. Maybe you buckle and let him in on the draw.

Another hypothetical: he's using all this time to not only delay you, but to try to persuade your ally. "Look, you see how impatient he is---it's a sign of someone who puts immediate gratification over delayed reward. Is that someone you can trust? Convince him to let me in draw before its too late and he stabs you next!"

Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Nov 12 UTC
It isn't metagaming, first off. Everything he is doing is inside the game and the reasons for doing it are inside the game. His goal is to piss you off and get you to draw instead of waiting it out, also inside the game. So nothing he is doing is against therules. It is assholish, true, bot not metagaming and not against the rules.
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Nov 12 UTC
Replace "5." with "The Draugnar Addendum". I believe I am the cause of that rule being etched into the rules forever. And yes, I am *damn* proud of it. My assholish beahvior got me the draw *and* guaranteed no one could do that again! Win/win as far as I was concerned. :-)
ulytau (541 D)
09 Nov 12 UTC
I believe that only "If it is being abused staff may step in to sort it out." is there because of your incessant whining that moderators have no right to draw a game because of some "rights" you are supposed to have here. Granted, it was an amusing Cartmanic tirade defending your right to screw a custom game based around a meta-gamed gentlemen agreement.

“Paper money has had the effect in your state that it will ever have, to ruin commerce, oppress the honest, and open the door to every species of fraud and injustice!!!! Wait, what? They put me on the buck? OK, nevermind then, paper money's cool.”
JECE (1322 D)
11 Nov 12 UTC
Draugnar: Since when were you not ashamed at how that all turned out? Have you forgotten how ugly it got on the forum. ;-)

mattsh: I guess it is metagaming in that phase-lengths and 'readying' are not part of Diplomacy. But if you think about it, if you agree to time-limits to phases when playing the board game, someone could be an asshole and refuse to write down their orders until after time has elapsed (despite having no intention to engage in diplomacy). If you see phase-lengths as similar to time-limits, then perhaps it isn't meta-gaming after all.
Draugnar (0 DX)

@JECE - You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Rule 5 is about pauses, you stupid fuck. I was referring to a game that *wasn't* that fucking bullshit pacifist variant that got me doicked shitloads of points. The game I refer to was at least 2 years ago. What does refusing to unpause have to do with moderators force drawing? I *got* the draw. That was the point of my holding the game hostage. I didn't get docked poitns cause I hadn't broken the rules and I stopped a solo by forcing it to draw. It was a good day to walk the fine line...

Draugnar: No, I'm serious; you get things out very fast. And you seem to type like a madman. I couldn't follow you. But lancing at your message again, I think at least part of it was meant for ulytau.
Draugnar (0 DX)

No, it was targetted at you because that [articular incident didn't get ugly on the forum IIRC. The one got ugly was my attacking in the pacifist game.

BREAKING NEWS: There has been ONE (yes, that's right, ONE) Draugnar-induced incident on the forums that got ugly. Everything you know is a lie.

You heard it here first.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 12 UTC
@ghug - What the fuck are you talkign about. I said a specific instance didn't and another did. I said nothing about any other incidents one way or another. Can't you fucking read?
ghug (5068 D(B))

"The *one* that got ugly"
You completely ignored what JECE was talking about, and then started yelling at him about how he was talking about something else which you defined specifically, seemingly because you thought it was the only thing he could be thinking of.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 12 UTC
I ignored what uly was talking about because he changed the subject to an entirely different rant. Naturally, I inferred that JECE was talling about the game and resulting thread to which I originally referred. The game and thread of refusing.to inpause and forcing a draw. Seeing as only two incidents were at any point referred to before your post, your inferrence that I was implying I only ever had one hated thread was simply full of shit so I called you on it.

Thread 1: I forced a draw instead of unpausing. Good but not heated discussion about whether it was metagaming resulted in new rule.

Thread 2: I got pissed because of a point docking when I screwed around in the pacifist cluster fuck. Heated thread.

Other threads not mentioned herein until your implication and inferrence that I was somehow being dishonest: Lots of.other threads some.heated and some.not. Some.involving.mods threatening to force draw and me.threatining to do some serious damage to the sites accessibilty and some nice discussions without drama.

End result: As I said, the thread about holding the game hostage did notbget jeated andbthat is what this thread had migrated into a discussion of.

I've seen people do stuff like this, but the best solution that I can find is to not invite them back to games. If you don't like someone's playing style, this seems the best way to avoid confrontations with them.
ghug (5068 D(B))
11 Nov 12 UTC
@Draug, that would have been reason to yell at ulytau, not JECE.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 12 UTC
@JECE - Sorry I got on your case.
@Uly - Are you a fuckwit or something? The pacifist and any number of threads where I went off on the mods for threatening to draw game that wasn't stalemated have shit to do with not unpausing to.force a draw. Don't be an asswipe!
@ghug - Better? :-)
ulytau (541 D)
11 Nov 12 UTC
Actually, I mixed those two games in my head so I guess I'm more than a little fuckwited.
Maniac (189 D(B))

If draugnar wants his life's legacy to be 'The Draugnar Addendum' that's fine by me, but around that time and maybe before I had received a message in game from someone refusing to unpause unless I drew or did something else for him. See my profile, this led to my relunctance to pause games.

From memory the fucktard asswipe dipshit that refused to unpause wasn't draugnar.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 12 UTC
@Maniac - You should have no fear of it now though as a rule is in place and the mods can force unpause the game and penalize the metagamer cause that is what holding a paused game hostage is considered.
