effective strategies in a nightclub?
talking to a girl, she seems moderately interested. ask if she wants to get coffee, she rejects the offer. apparently not interested in spite of talking for a while with you. then you get desperate and start talking to all these random girls and they reject you one by one. is this an effective strategy?

Paused games
I know that paused games are when the players choose to have a pause due to a player or a few, but how long can this last? This game is paused and the players been gone for about a mounth, and most players filled in their orders, so will they just keep on waiting, especially if the player never comes back?

Creating Incentives to Ban
It is a topic that is most odd...If Web Diplomacy players were awarded points for catching those who were charged with account fraud, would it be legitimate?

Keep in mind that if the allegation is true, the player gets 50 pts., but if it is false, they are docked by 5 D.

KA, giving you complete control of the forums would be like giving a baby a loaded millitary gun
King Atom (100 D)
22 Oct 12 UTC
Jeremiahg, I fail to see your comparison. A baby would be incapable of pulling a trigger and would therefore be incapable of doing any harm out of presumed ignorance. If it did manage to kill someone, if anything, it would merely teach the child to be comfortable around and respectful of powerful weaponry. If we taught all of our children with a 'hands on' approach as such, we would have no need for involuntary military service or very much gun control at all. Why yes, we'd be back to the good old days of the Wild, Wild West.
ulytau (541 D)

You don't have involuntary military service, you dumbfuck.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Oct 12 UTC
Sure we do... In theory. It's called selective service and every male in the US must sign up for it upon turning 18. the fact that we haven't had a draft since Vietnam doesn't mean we couldn't. The fact that they even collect the info means it is always under consideration. If it were truly no longer allowed to happen, there woudl be no selective service registration.
King Atom (100 D)
22 Oct 12 UTC
Yes, I was referring to previous military engagements that spurred drafts. Just because we have "enough" volunteers now doesn't mean that we still couldn't have a draft. GO AWAY BEFORE YOU CALL THE WRONG PERSON A DUMBFUCK TWICE!

The real questin on the baby is: Woudl the noise scare the kid or would he/she lay there giggling as the bullets sprayed all around. And considering a baby's habit of sucking on theings while kcik and squeexing, the baby is quite likely to commit involuntary suicide with the barrel in his/her mouth and the feet on the trigger.

This comes from people who relish in their down-to-earth attitude. I guess all Englishmen know how to shoot a longbow because the law requiring it is still part of their judicialsystem.

Draugnar (0 DX)

That was a clearly false analogy. Selective service registration is not only required but those who don't, while rarely prosecuted, are banned from ever receiving federal aide. this includes social security, medicare/medicade, unemployment benefits, disability, welfare, student loans and grants, everything. I seriously doubt that England has similar penalties for not learning to use a crossbow.

You should really research your subject before inserting your feet in your mouth and your head up your ass.

Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Oct 12 UTC
longbow, crossbow, stupid typo. The point is, what is the realistic penalty of not learning to use a longbow? The realistic penalty of not registering for selective service is denial of any student loans and grants and other federal benefits.
King Atom (100 D)
22 Oct 12 UTC
I believe the penalty is five years imprisonment, Draug.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Oct 12 UTC
I said realistic penalty. I.e. do they pursue and prosecute it. Oh, and I know how to use a long bow, despite being an American... I took archery in high school.

As far as selective service...

From wikipedia:

As an alternative method of encouraging registration, federal legislators passed laws requiring that to receive financial aid, federal grants and loans, certain government benefits, eligibility for most federal employment, and (if the person is an immigrant) eligibility for citizenship, a young man had to be registered (or had to have been registered, if they are over 26 but were required to register between 18 and 26) with Selective Service. Those who were required to register, but failed to do so before they turn 26, are no longer allowed to register, and thus may be permanently barred from federal jobs and other benefits, unless they can show to the Selective Service that their failure was not knowing and willful.[6] There is a procedure to provide an "information letter" by the SSS for those in these situations, for example recent citizens who entered the US after their 26th birthday.[28]

Most states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and Virgin Islands, have passed laws requiring registration for men 18–25 to be eligible for programs that vary on a per-jurisdiction basis but typically include driver's licenses, state-funded higher education benefits, and state government jobs.[29] Alaska also requires registration to receive an Alaska Permanent Fund dividend.[29] Eight states (Connecticut, Indiana, Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming) as well as Puerto Rico have no such requirements, though Indiana does give men 18–25 the option of registering with Selective Service when obtaining a drivers license or an identification card.[29] The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles automatically registers young men 18-25 with the Selective Service as federally required, whenever they apply for driver licenses, learner permits, or non-driver identification cards.[30]

Just to let you know, Draug, I didn't doubt your credibility, but I do appreciate you giving my thread some room for legitimate discussion.
ulytau (541 D)

Those details of grammatical mood (obi would explain elaborately but w/e) are really important, believe me. Having a system that allows you to reintroduce draft (might have in the future) is quite different from a system that has draft (have). Denying this calls for rectification of names, otherwise you will start telling me that whole Europe has involuntary military service as well just because our national ID cards contain the same info as SSS registration and keeping the data outdated is also punishable. In fact, our involuntary military service is even more involuntary, since you won'teven wipe your ass out without your ID card.

Since you opted for TOW:
"The United States discontinued the draft in 1973, moving to an all-volunteer military force, thus there is no mandatory conscription. However, the Selective Service System remains in place as a contingency plan; men between the ages of 18 and 25 are required to register so that a draft can be readily resumed if needed.[1] In current conditions conscription is considered unlikely by most political and military experts.[2]"

Let me reiterate - KA, you don't have involuntary military service, you dumbfuck.
ulytau (541 D)
22 Oct 12 UTC
And enjoy your curfew - you know, since the law opens the possibility for curfew at some unspecified point in time, you surely have curfew right now like the draft.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Oct 12 UTC
@uly - I agree we don't have involuntary military service. But I was more pointing out that Selective Service (and failure to register) has a little bit more teeth to it than the longbow argument. I didn't realize Europe's national ID systems required maintaining up to date info. Here in the US, once you turn 26, you can go off the grid competely legally. States don't require IDs and social security doesn't have to be updated until you decide to collect from it. SS is the only way we have to keep track of 18-26 year old males with an absolute certainty.

I agree the longbow argument was cheeky but since we reached an agreement, history will judge me mercifully.

And yes, you are obliged to apply for a new ID in 15 days after an item on it has changed in the Czech Republic. Since the IDs are more and more standardized in the EU, other member states will have it pretty similar.
