I try to believe six impossible things before breakfast, but this one caught me off guard. Well played.

@Jack -- your problem is you are often so bent towards vile hatred that you often fail to read things for what they say, but always try to shade everything with past, unrelated discussions. I confess, I do the same. Perhaps we can have detente...

Of course, when you say things like "made him sound human" you are still being a belligerent asshole, unable to "compliment" without throwing an insult...so...no...detente is a fantasy....

I don't really like studying the Gospel of John, I think it is too sentimental and not a true reflection of Jesus's ideas.

Can someone explain to me why you would sign your own post?

Krellin, your comment on Old Testament/New Testament was pretty much on the mark, especially if we keep in mind that the Old was there to show the need for the New--to show that we can't be good enough by trying. We owe our lives--substituted by blood sacrifice and all manner of religious rules in the OT, but the blood sacrifices had to be made every year, and it was literally impossible to keep all the rules--and paid for in full by the blood of Jesus in the New. The only thing I would disagree with is that salvation cannot be earned or achieved--only received, as a free gift. I have an old raisin tray hanging on my wall with a poster glued to it that says, "God gives, but we must receive." One day, if you like, I'll tell you about the day I accepted that gift.

Nigee, the Bible is always the same, but the Spirit of God gives us new insights each time we read and ponder it.

Why does that sound like a threat?

It wasn't Christmas day. It was an ordinary day. Walking around our bit, I happened to wander under the old raisin tray, the place where we raised the younguns who fell from their nest, whatever. Unfortunately, that day we had a large coypu we were trying to keep from predators. Big fat asshole, to my mind.
He must have read my mind. Down comes the raisin tray, coypu and all.
Bang on the head. Fall on the floor. Out for the count. Still there's more.
Woke up to see the words, "God gives, but we must receive."
Thanks, God. Never found the coypu.
