Well, I wanted to pummel France right off the bat, but then Germany proved to be a total mad dog who had to be put down. From that point, I had to make sure France couldn't run wild with Italy utterly ignoring him and play for the draw. Anyway, good game to all.

Colorblind Confusion
Is there any way to change the settings on my account so that in the Global messages it says somewhere (in text) which country had made each post? I am unable to discern the posts of Germany from those of Austria. Italy's are also hard to distinguish.

Oh, and England and France have basically the same color. Is there anything I can do to tell these messages apart?

5-way draw, we likely should have eliminated Austria, I frankly didn't realize that Russia and Italy had clicked draw when I did, I thought it was just France and myself, signaling some what of a cease fire perhaps.

Anyways, I would say that the poor play of England very much shaped this game. He opened aggressively against France, and yet for every attack he made on France, he made another against me, so we could never actually destroy the French, nicely done staying alive SD.

Turkey tried to go all out against Russia, which would have succeeded had Italy not decided to go all out against A/T.

Italy, I am quite surprised you never sent a fleet towards France, you would have easily picked up a SC considering he was already being attacked by E/G.

Russia, well played. Never really figured out how to work with you, in part my own fault for that fleet build in Berlin, didn't do much for any potential trust. But England was playing so erratically I figured I needed to pick up SC's where and when I could.

I think my play is improving as Germany... it has certainly always been my weakest GB power.
Poozer (962 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
Yeah, I have no idea who the original England was... I very much wish you hadn't replaced him, especially since you were one and done in a turn, that wasn't really a replaceable situation he left you in.

Why is it that every time I play Russia in a gunboat, Turkey attacks in 1901?
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I thought it was well played (I was Italy). Turkey allowing Russia to backdoor him like that, when I was not pressing him at all and Austria was on the ropes.
Poozer (962 D)

Going back to look at the maps, that is very true Stressed, I'm not sure why Turkey did that. Nice job taking advantage of it SEP.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
Yes, turkey went from 4 or 5 centers, to 0 in like 2 turns, and Russia got them ALL i think. I was willing to play nice with Austria to start the game, but he opened up letting Russia into glacia on Spring 01, and I faceplamed myself, and decided I better get what I could from him.

However, I will say this. Austria played well AFTER that opening (which may work for some, but I hate it) Austria needs to hope Italy CEasefires with him, and i was all for that. the opening he did was not one that I was comfortable with having him as an ally or even as a buffer.

Russia played well, and I paid just mild attention to France/Germany, and yes, I several times thought about going for france, but I was really tied up in the Balkans heavy from the early part on.
S.E. Peterson (100 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
Well played to you too, Poozer. I kind of wish that I had noticed someone had replaced England in time to change my orders, but then again not really. I think Italy did the right thing in going after me instead moving West.
Stressedlines (1559 D)

SEP< I did a quick count of forces in theatre, and knew I had an advantage, and with france tied up vs Germany and England, I knew I could get into Turkey, and had enougharmies in austria/balkans to flank you in Turkey at the least.

However, I also knew that Split was playing (I checked to see if he was on line, and he ALWAYS plays 5 min gunboats if he is on) and you were not playing like him, so I assumed he was France or Germany, and from my past experiences, I was a bit....nervous about him being France (which he was) so I hit the draw button (I was not the last one) which of course, I think SEP saw that I was going to get some levrage on him in Turkey with my fleets, and I was not sure if france and Germany were having some lovefest over there, as they were not REALLY attacking each other for some time, so SEP made best play he could, get his points and run...lol

SEP well played sir.

Good game, Stressedlines. I couldn't quite believe that I had made into Galicia in 1901. Unfortunately, I had to defend against the Turk and couldn't really fully exploit my good fortune. At the end, I think if you and Germany had coordinated an all out attack, I would've collapsed like a house of cards before too long.
Poozer (962 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
Yeah... but I had to waste too many resources keeping France at bay. I think I would have lost at least part of Scandinavia to you, although depending on how London/Belgium played out, perhaps I could have retaken Scan.

SD likes to just go for one country... so I kind of doubt he'd have ever attacked Italy, to be honest (unless he'd managed to destroy me in Germany first).
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
yes, allowing you into galacia changed my entire plan. I was going to leave Austria lone, to buffer me, and go all out vs Turkey, and maybe grab greece at somet point. However, when he allowed you into galacia, was just was not happy at all.

I just could not understand Turkeys obsession with me though. Sure, I mad an early grab at him, but certainly ahd backed off from that, and he STILL decided to change gears and come after me.

If I had thought for a moment that france and germany were about to fight, I would have never hit draw.

Maybe if you had backed off in galcia to warsaw, I would have considered some CF, but I didnt think you would back out of there (I dont think I would have).

My unhealthy obsession and past experiences of being stabbed by Split forced my hand on the draw...lol

Poozer, as much as he had SCs open to me, I had them open to him also. France italy have one of the most agreeable borders in the game, and it is easy to keep the proverbial peace there. Germany/Russia is only other one that is close.

however, I kept looking at the orders, and thought SD was france a few times. I knew it was not Russia, the play was different. However, there was thought he was Germany also.

I agree on we should have killed Austria.. I didnt think Germany or Russia would hit draw after me.
S.E. Peterson (100 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I didn't understand what Turkey was doing either. I considered making nice after he switched his focus but thought better of it.
And Stress what you mean by "he wasn't playing like me"? And why are you so nervous about me?
And Poozer what do you mean by "I like tp go for one country"? Should I go for two, three or four country at the same time? Can you all tell me if you are not fine with my playing where I make mistakes?
Am I such a bad player you need to check to see if I'm online or what's the reason to be so nervous about me? I don't understand your point.

SD, it was a compliment. Relax. I have a habit of always being near you when we play in the same game, and you laways seem to stab me 1 turn before I think I am about to stab. If you had been playing Russia, you would have attacked into Austria, and the few times I have seen you play Russia, you tend to go heavier north than south (Like SEP did) . Sure my sample size is small for you and Russia, and I see in other games also you tend to go north a bit more as Russia. Not always, but more than usual.

Itis likein school, if someone is bullying you all the time, you try to be aware of where this person is. Same logic here.

Nobody stabs me more than yoU SD...nobody...lol SO, Sure, I see if you are on, and since the pot was big enough, I assumed you were in the game. I was not wrong.
I understand but you can't tell you was positive I wasn't Russia because I don't play by rules but allways according to the situation at the board and if possible against the major threat for the game.In this game it was Germany. And I wouldn't have stabed Italy in this game,do you realy think I'm such a kamikaze because some jelous idiot said it after a game?
Poozer (962 D)

SD: I mean that you generally focus your attack on one country, which is to say I don't think you would have ever built a fleet in Mars and attacked Italy.

Its not an insult or a compliment, just an observation on your strategy. No judgement here.

Stressed: Not to be a bummer, but I think technically what you are doing in regard to seeing if SD is online and guessing which country he is playing counts as meta-gaming, since that information technically isn't available to you within the game itself, thus you shouldn't be trying to figure out who is what player to use their past move strategy for/against them.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
If it is, then I apologize, but I am making assumptions really. there was no sure bet SD was in the game at all. I simply happen to play at the same time as him (or used to when I played more) and looked to see if he was on. If it is meta gaming 9which by the rules here, it really isnt, unless I am reading the definition incorrectly.

SD, question. You built an army in MAR at the very end, not Paris. What was plan there? I was watching close to see where you built, and of course what. The Army in MAR was a bit of a shock. Was it a 'just in case'?
Still not enough explained. So do you generally NOT focus your attack on one country (and how many instead) and do you NOT fight back someone who stabs you but you let him win and attack the others? I don't understand your observation at all, sorry.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I never said anything about 'one country'. Unless of course, you were not talking to me.
Yes,it was built to defend Burgundy but also to keep Marseille safer, isn't it better defend Burgundy from Marseille but from Paris?
I checked your games - in the last 30-40 games you met me twice and never been stabed. So did you mixed me with someone else maybe? Can you find me at least one game where I stabed you?
Poozer (962 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I just think it is an attempt to bypass the "anonymous players" setting. But as you say, it is just an assumption/guess, its not as though you are messaging someone to find out. Either way, I don't really care, its impossible not to think about who your opponents are to some extent.

Really everyone played well, with the exception of us not destroying Austria for the draw.

I think my situation was the most in peril, since Scandinavia and my holds in the North Sea were certainly at risk. So I was happy that everyone else seemed to draw.

And just to put another issue at rest, there was no way I wasn't going to full out attack France in the coming turns, so SD certainly made good decisions in that regard. I'm still just disappointed England kept attacking me instead of working with me against France.
Poozer said something about "one country" rule which I don't understand at all.Very strange theory to me,I must say.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
Well, I think most people go after 'one country' I made the mistake of trying for 2 early.
Of course,England did the same because he is newbie to the game . You don't need to ask him that Poozer because England doesn't know the reason why he attacked you and me simultaneously.
Poozer (962 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I'm not suggesting that someone attack all of their neighbors at once, just ask England how well that worked out for him.

To put it a better way in the context of this game.... If Italy had attacked/stabbed France (SD), SD would have preferred attempting to destroy Italy... at the potential cost of allowing Germany (me) to solo.

Does that seem correct? If not, I apologize.
Correct! And what would you do in the case? You would keep attacking Germany and let Italy to take the rest of you?
Stressedlines (1559 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I dont think SD wasconcerned with Italy attacking him, but in about 2 turns if things went bad for Russia in Turkey, and I was going to get more builds, i am 100% sure Germany and France would have buried their hatchet.
We had buried our hatchet allready as far as I was concened because I saw what was coming.I believe Germany did the same.
Poozer (962 D)
23 Apr 12 UTC
I would have spent the spring protecting Scandinavia and attempting to just hold on against my border with you SD.

Obviously had you shifted your focus or supported my units to hold, etc, I would have been fully onboard with burying the hatchet.
My next order was defending Burgundy and Belgium and moving London to Walles, Eng.Channel to Irish Sea and Brest to EC,changing Liverpool for London and keep an eye on Mid Atlantic waiting to see what Russia and Italy were going to do...
