Olympic Football Tournament
It's been mentioned to me a few times now that they Olympic Football Tournament is considered a serious tournament in many parts of the world. I was initially skeptical, but gradually got talked into believing this may in fact be the case. Then I saw the draw...

Well, I wanted to pummel France right off the bat, but then Germany proved to be a total mad dog who had to be put down. From that point, I had to make sure France couldn't run wild with Italy utterly ignoring him and play for the draw. Anyway, good game to all.

The Business of America is business
A thread for innovative business ideas that employee people and make a profit. In other words business ideas that create jobs and grow the economy.

Check out this site.

A new business in Las Vegas that charges from $90 to $500 to help individuals deal with hangovers.
You can receive treatment in your room or in a revamped commercial bus that cruises the Vegas strip and serves as a mobile treatment center.
You can get IV's for dehydration, nausea, anti-inflammatories, and vitamins.
What a unique business idea.

A recent Rasmussen poll found that 68% of Americans trust their own economic judgement more than either presidential candidate's!
Now that is a great number to see.
I can't agree though. I'm a businessman and I've studied Mitt Romney. The guy might now be an inspiring speaker, but I'd trust his economic judgement more than my own based on his track record.
It's great to see American's have faith in their own economic judgement.
Bully!

BrightSource Energy, a new business designed to build Solar/Thermal power plants canceled its IPO because it analysts and researchers found there was not enough interest in its stock.
The government dumped $1.6 Billion in tax dollars into BrightSource.
Some private venture capital firms invested tens of millions.
The problem is that the electricity generated by the solar panels and thermal sources can compete with existing sources of electricity.
Solar and Thermal are too damn expensive.
You can't make a profit selling electricity generated by Solar and Thermal.
Hats off to BrightSource for tying an innovative model, but their model failed, they will have to shut down operations soon and all of the investors including the American taxpayer thanks to the O-Dumba administrations $1.6 billion dollar loan guarantee will lose everything.
The United States government has no business being in business with the receipts of American taxpayers.
Leave business to businessmen and leave politics to fools.

I have an important question TC!

At my school there is currently a contest of wills, craftsmanship, feats of physical prowess, mental acuity, and general hardiness between engineering students and business students!

Who will win?!?!

Students don't win anything Thucy, regardless of their major. Adults who work are the only winners in life.

A beautiful example of how the market works.
In 1994 as many drilling rigs searched for natural gas as did for oil.
Beginning in 1995 the percentage of drilling rigs searching for natural gas began to climb steadily as the percentage of rigs searching for oil declined.
Why?
Because the profit made drilling for natural gas was substantially higher than the profit from drilling for oil.
Even though oil is more expensive it costs more to go after it because it is deep.
By 2005 almost 90% of all drilling rigs in the US were going after natural gas.
The success of all that drilling for natural gas has had a tremendous impact.
The price of natural gas is now as low as it has been in decades because of all the new fields found by all that drilling.
With a lower price the profitability of drilling for natural gas is greatly reduced and guess what?
The number of rigs drilling for oil has increased steadily as a result.
Today in 2012 70% of the drilling rigs are going after oil and only 30% after natural gas.
No government oversight, mandates, quotas, etc. etc. etc. have driven this dynamic.
Just the simple free market.
Embrace it children because Barack Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all the other moronic socialists could never have assigned the drilling rigs of this nation to the proper proportion between natural gas and oil with anything approaching the efficiency of the free market of the petroleum business.

Saw an interesting statement the other day.
Something to the effect the average CEO makes 338 times the wages of the average worker.
It made me think of the relationship to my wage compared my employees.
How much greater are the company assets I'm responsible for than they are.
A CEO is always on call and responsible for everything.
The average employee watches the clock for quitting time and works 40 hours a week 50 weeks a year and is responsible for their duties only.
In light of this when looking at my own responsibilities and liabilities compared to what my employees are paid I am grossly under compensated with just salary.
When you figure in the value of portion of the company it works out.
The problem is to realize my assets I have to sell the company and that puts my employees jobs at risk.
Do employees have anything new the corresponding responsibilities and considerations? Nope, they just clock out after 8 hours and have the weekends free after 40 hours.
CEO's are like sports stars, they deserve everything a company is willing to pay them.

Here's a great idea, it's called 'Trickle Down'. Basically you reduce taxes for the rich and then the economy grows because the rich have more money ....... brilliant !!

Somebody please copy-paste this to the idiot who calls himself Tettleton's Chew and calls all other people idiots:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqseLp-vMGg&feature=youtu.be

Hans Wijers, former secretary of the economy to the Netherlands and CEO of AkzoNobel, a multinational chemicals company, among other things the world's leading player in decorative paint, leaves the company after ten years.

In this video, you will see what a real businessman looks like. Note how much more money than you he makes, and how much less seriously he takes himself.

Somebody pass this on to TC please. Thanks. Also pass it on to Putin. It makes a good case for capitalism as well.

Excellent article interviewing the founder of Pay Pal.
His business advice, don't come up with an idea that will beat the competition, come up with a business idea that leaps past all your competition and gives you a monopoly in a new field.
If only I was bright enough to do that.
Maybe you wouldn't be on webDip.

Colorblind Confusion
Is there any way to change the settings on my account so that in the Global messages it says somewhere (in text) which country had made each post? I am unable to discern the posts of Germany from those of Austria. Italy's are also hard to distinguish.

Oh, and England and France have basically the same color. Is there anything I can do to tell these messages apart?
