I don't know what it is, but there doesn't have to be a reason anyways... I could go off on a Billy Joel rant from this point, and that might cheer me up...but I just don't know. Does anyone have some level of understanding of something pertaining to something like something that resembles pre-vacation blues or something?
Remember the Scott Expedition, of which three members died 100 years ago today
"Every day we have been ready to start for our depot 11 miles away, but outside the door of the tent it remains a scene of whirling drift. I do not think we can hope for any better things now. We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker, of course, and the end cannot be far. It seems a pity but I do not think I can write more. R. Scott. For God's sake look after our people."
Does anyone know anything special about Amerigo Vespucci?
I don't want any of you complaining about my lack of knowledge or to inundate me with theories about who really discovered the New World, I just need to know a few things about the voyage in which he discovered America...let's just say that it's for my Symphony.
Brace yourselves, WebDippers, we have an opportunity to say something that actually matters for a change! (Brits only, sadly). Instead of making the same old arguments to the same old people, why not say something to the government as they consider new legislation?
"Treat all economic questions from the viewpoint of the consumer, for the interests of the consumer are the interests of the human race." Frédéric Bastiat- 1850 (He is even European, where did Europe lose its way-Bismarck)
Guys, I got tired of having to hide the screen from my kids when I was reading the Forum posts because of the widespread use of the F-word and other profanity. So--it's not personal if I muted you, or your thread.
Alright, say some of your friends dated a chick who is, let's say, a whore. Now, you go after her just for that reason; not to date her, but just to get a little somethin somethin. Does that break the "bro code"?
Those in the human race who are lazy, dishonest, unmotivated, drug addicts, drunks and unreliable want government to be strong so government can provide them a life they would never or could never provide for themselves by their own efforts. This thread is dedicated to them, and to keeping Govt. weak
So, why wasn't Russia eliminated? I just got bored with it in the end. 1920 and all. It was pretty clear I was making no moves towards a solo at all.
Anyway, good though frustrating game. Glad to have finally managed to work with you, Mujus. Babak- I was initially looking to split Germany with you, but you kept blocking me in the Baltic rather than just take Berlin.
I played France to Barn3tt's England. I had only one enemy all game, but he kept me on the ropes. Even at the end, he was growing while I was stopped by the Turkish wall, and I was worried that England would come after me again and this time things would turn out worse!
Awkward in Germany impressed me by punching back even when he was stuck in a corner. I wanted to come through you and harass England up Denmark way, but almost got me a second enemy that way. So much for diplomacy. lol
That was a rough one! I took a huge gamble going for Warsaw in 1901 and never really recovered. I chose the three-army route to keep from getting crushed, but with no fleets I also couldn't get much offense going. All the while that fourth build remained elusive. Holland was really my only chance... Amazing game. The final board, with Russia holed up in A-H territory... Classic.
Great game! Even though I was eliminated, I still had a ton of scope for exciting things to try. Apologies to The Czech -- the stab was just way too enticing to resist. And would have gotten away with it too, but for that pesky MAR army. Grrrr. Congrats to all the survivors. This has been an amazing tournament.
I felt the same way Barnett. I went for a solo push too early and didn't take care of Russia properly. Eventually with England not pressing draw and France not fully trusting him I thought I could just move past Russia even further and clean up the pieces. Nothing happened and I lost the ability to go deal iwth Russia. Although, I would have tried had we kept going.
Last game has a 17 centre power.... likely this will all be done soon.
Not too happy with ym place at the bottom, but the games have been fantastic which was the goal.
