Hi! I'm new to tournaments on this site so I don't have any experience but I've been looking for an opportunity to join one. Is this tournament open to everyone?

I'm interested, but let's drop the season from the tournament's name, be it spring or summer, it will take a year to complete anyway. 2012 Gunboat Tournament sounds perfect to me.

Haha. The Summer one was/is August to February, just over half a year!

The tournament is open to everyone, but I'm considering these groups as "priority invitations":
- Players that were on the waiting list for Summer GT 2011
- Players that replaced a CD player in ""
- The 21 players that made it to the semi-finals
Still lots of room (49 total) and not everyone on the above will likely participate.
If there's enough interest (post here to prove it!) then I'll make a sign up form and post official rules/details. It'll be the same format as tinyurl.com/gunboattournament except much quicker as I'll be a mod at the start and have more experience! (@AN as well for that)

Geofram, so, there will be two separate tourneys? I am interested, but unable to sign-up for two months. If there is a tourney with a later start date then I'm interested in that. I just want to clarify how you see this being arranged as I don't want to miss out on it altogether.

Also, the Gauntlet? What is it?

The Summer GT is just now finishing. Many factors lead the tournament to taking longer than it really should have.
The Spring GT is this thread's tournament. I'm proposing a start date somewhere around the 3rd or 4th week of March.
The Gauntlet is a rather unorthodox tournament I teased at in November about announcing in January, but there's still some design and challenge issues I need to think through, so I've had to postpone it.

I'm up for this, if there is a space free.
