Classic gunboat LIVE complaint

Very likely France and Germany are communicating/cheating. No reason why two people with 10 builds bordering each other would still be just chilling out sipping pina coladas like this.

One Million Moms, Zero Common Sense--Ellen DeGeneres Targeted by Anti-LGBT Group
http://news.yahoo.com/one-million-moms-jc-penney-fire-ellen-shes-173429894.html "Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families,"
Funny this should even be an issue in the year 2012...JC Penny will keep her on, but what does this say about the state of LGBT Rights in America?

Hell, Indy is great because it has a 2-3 hour drive draw from all over the midwest. Chicago, Cincinati/Dayton, Louisville, Cleveland... Had the Bengals made it, you damn well better believe half of Cinci would have made the 90 minute trek to Indy. The city would have seen it's population double with all of Greater Cincinnati there.

And I love Indy. The rich racing history and the great downtoan they have. We go there occassionally on day trips just for the fun of it: Circle Center Mall, the Indy 500 Hall of Fame Museum, IMA. Or we'll spend a Friday and Saturday night at one of the hotels and drive up to Auburn on Saturday to the Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg Museum. Great city for those who seems to want to disparrage it because it isn't a top 10 in population.

"@Fasces - I corrected my timing, but the game would never start at 8. It would start at more like 6."
The Stanley Cup final starts at 8, and hockey and football take the same amount of time to play. (football 15-30 minutes longer but still)

Its not unrealistic to think that a football game could start 8, or midday in LA

I was actually in Cincy the other day Draug, goes both ways, Cincy makes a great day trip . Went to perfect north to ski as well.

I think indy gets looekd down on for that reason, we aren't in the top 10 population. But as far as city size I do belive we are like 13 or 11th. Its a great city if you want a quiet suburban week and a city like weekend
Draugnar (0 DX)
01 Feb 12 UTC
@DJEcc - Yeah, city proper population, Indy is actually bigger than Cincy. But Cincy has a greater population when you count the "region" as most of Cincy live's in the 'burbs.

If you ever want to meet up at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg for soime poker, let me know!

UK subject (not citizen, no such thing in a monarchy) here.
If it were truly a "world " sport, then ok, maybe.
But it is contested purely by US teams, so can't see the attraction.
Should stay stateside imho - but not reet bothered!
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
02 Feb 12 UTC
Well, here's a question for all you UK folks...

If YOU exported aguably one of YOUR greatest attractions, ie, the Married Royal Couple, to the States for a bit--one of the most irritating times t turn on the news here in LA, I assure you, "Kate Kate Kate KAte Kate Kate...oh, and some fires and murders and millions nemployed, now, back to live coverage of Kate being driven 10mph down LA's already-impossibly-congested-boulevards, and coming up next, MORE Kate!"...

If you exported that, to our annoyance, er, I mean, to our everlasting gratitude...

Isn't it only FAIR that we give YOU a game you don't seem to care for at all hours of the nights and clog up your media for a bit?

;)
Octavious (2802 D)
02 Feb 12 UTC
I can't see it being that big a story, to be honest. It'd probably get a mention, and maybe a bit more if it was a slow news day... the obligatory interviews with the fan, the random chap who's dead against it, and the woman who has never heard of it, sort of thing. Five minutes, max.
YadHoGrojaUL (330 D)
02 Feb 12 UTC
To be fair to you rebellious colonials, the export of Mr & Mrs Beckham to your continent gives you cause for invoking the Monroe doctrine on the grounds that gentlemen prefer blondes.

In any case, the obvious home in Europe for an NFL franchise would be a certain Croatian city. After all the "Split Beavers " seem to have a ready-made worldwide fanbase...:-)
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
02 Feb 12 UTC
@Octavious:

OH NO...it wasn't just a mention, they had LIVE COVERAGE OF THEIR MOTORCADE ALL THE WAY IN AND BACK, NOT KIDDING...

And that's just the motorcade! Not even seeing the damn people, just watching a fleet of cars drive incredibly slow while listening to commentators trying to fill the dead time with whatever inane facts they'd dug up about the Royal Family and hundreds of American morons (redundant?) waving and shrieking and waving English flags and pulling off fake British accents on camera and making me cringe...oh, the humanity...

Not just 5 minutes, no, this went on for an hour or two EASILY, and THAT isn't counting the PRE and POST-drive coverage, add that, and it's another couple hours, PLUS all the days and weeks leading up to it where they'd mention it...

AND the fact that I happened to have the most Anglophilic English professor EVER...I mean it, the way she'd go on about England...

She makes my love of Shakespeare and English Lit. look like a passing phase, SHE would go on and on about how she had all the kings and queens memorized and every little minute detail of English life from whatever period it was (over two semesters, I spanned everything from Old English to the end of the Victorian Era, so yeah, PLENTY of periods and times for her to bang on about)...

And when you're going into too much detail and going on too long about ENGLISH LIT....TO ME...

You can imagine, I was QUITE HAPPY when they left!

...But even THEN, no, THEN she didn't stop, she kept referencing it over and over...

Forget Kevin Bacon--it became The Six Degrees of Kate Middleton with her!

ANYTHING could be turned into a way to talk about her...I can only imagine that's what it's like when I reference Shakespeare...but, with all due respect to everyone involved here--

AT LEAST SHAKESPEARE *DID SOMETHING!*
HELL, EVEN *DIANA* WAS WORTHY OF THAT MUCH ATTENTION, SHE DID SOMETHING!
MRS. MIDDLETON JUST DID A *STUPENDOUS* JOB LANDING A HUSBAND!

Which might sound mean, but really...she hasn't done anything yet, and the TV commentators and this professor and the people in the street are going on about what "a lift" they are to everyone's spirits???

What'd they ever do to lift spirits besides have a rather lavish wedding in nice clothing and clog up Downtown Los Angeles???

Aaaaaand now I'd better NOT ever come over to England, lest I be shot for all that. Sorry. What was the point of all that?

Oh, right--it was NOT just 5 minutes, Octavious...! :p

Thank God I don't live in LaLaLand. We midwesterners got a "Oh yeah, the royal couple was in California today, now onto the important stuff" on our news. Took a couple minutes out of the 6 o'clock news.

Christian Just War Theory
I would like to hear the opinions of the community here at WebDiplomacy regarding Christian Just War Theory. Whether Atheist, Christian, or any sort of religious affiliation, your thoughts are appreciated. Does it concur with what Jesus taught? Is there room for killing in a Christian lifestyle if these conditions are met? Any and all thoughts are appreciated thank you.

Is this type of post allowed?
I am currently in a game with a terrible ally. Let me be more specific: they're not an evil stabber or an incompetent strategist, but they are simply a terrible ally. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm talking possibly the worst teammate I've ever had in any game, Diplomacy or other. Is it improper to discuss this here if I don't use names?

You can't hide from Cspan
Cspan is a perfect example of good government in action.
Government sold airwaves to private companies with the admonition that the private companies who purchased the airwaves would broadcast public events to the public. In other words transparency.
