Who knows anything about the human heart?
My fiance's father has had two heart attacks in the past month. He is 58 and lived in Paris for most of his life (he moved out north of Marseilles to the country 3 years ago). He is not overweight or underweight; and resists smoking. I am having to drive back and forth every weekend (about 1100 km or 700 miles) for her to visit him. What are his chances for survival? Can he get better?

Raising taxes on the rich
I was reading the forums and I am displeased by how many people think taxes should be raised on the rich. What an outrageous idea! It is the rich who create jobs that fuel the economy. In fact, last year alone my company made over 100 new jobs. If the rich have their taxes raised, even more jobs will be lost.

Buying this site
I have been looking around this site and it seems like it is a well made site. I have bought websites in the past and this seems like a worthy one. Would the current site owner contact me on how much he/she would charge for the ownership of the site.

Does cancelling a game make it impossible for a mod to investigate cheating?
If I were to cancel a game, would that make it impossible for a mod to investigate cheating in the game?

Locating a mod
Why am I so stupid I can't figure it out? I have what I think is a pretty obvious example of cheating and know enough not to accuse anyone on the forum... but even after checking the FAQ I can't figure out how to find a mod.

So, we should ban this account since it's your second?

actually, you should ban the first account. Madmarx is winning so much and he wants a fresh start. Of course thats me but still.

Well, this is a cheating accusation even if it is false, so I'd go with the -20 D to the accuser.

Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Oct 11 UTC
So what do you do for cheating accusations on the forum?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
11 Oct 11 UTC
Well, until we have implemented a new policy, let's just hope it doesn't become an issue.
Yonni (136 D(S))

I've never seen it been used as a tool for meta-gaming. The issue with cheating accusations seems to begin and end with rule banning them.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

I don't think we've ever banned anyone for cheating accusations.

What's the new policy?
Geofram (130 D(B))

My suggestion: Mute the player to the entire forum. No new posts allowed and no new threads created. Maybe for a period of two days for the first infraction.

Until, of course, we have a new policy in place.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

Apparently the new policy is to drag multi's out of their homes, smash their fingers with bricks and then piss on their computers.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Its not about how to handle the multis but how to handle the accusers on the forum.
Gobbledydook (1389 D(B))
11 Oct 11 UTC
Well, is there a reason why docking points is to be stopped?
Tru Ninja's idea is the best! Spoken like a true Ninja.

abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Kestas told us to stop docking points, so that's what we as mods will do. As I said, we're working on a new policy that will make more sense. Not sure what's so bureaucratic about that.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Oct 11 UTC
I know I'm nobody, but here is a suggestion...

I suspect Kestas was concerned that point docking was giving people a reason to post the accusation so long as they were willing to take the hit and in return their accusation had the appearance of getting looked at quicker.

If that is the case, then make the point docking so severe no one will take the hit. If you have under 100 available points, dock the person all available points. Over 100 but under 200, dock them 100 D, over 200, dock them half their available points. For point hoarders, that hurts. For newbs, they can't get into any more games. For those with something in between, well 100 D is still a massive hit when you only have 120 or 130 available points.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Oct 11 UTC
Oh, and for people like me who have a total well above 100, but keep ours invested in games, dock us 100 D so we have to make it back in current games before we can join a new one.

Points are intended to improve games by allowing players of skill level to find each other. Punishing with a significant hit hurts evertyone where it counts to them. To the gamers who just wantt o play, it keeps them from getting in more. to the hoarders, it takes away a huge chunk of stash.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
11 Oct 11 UTC
@Draug

I think the issue was more that the punishment was completely unrelated to the crime, in that points are used for playing games and are separate from the forum. On that point, I do agree with Kestas; however, since mod powers are somewhat limited, I was forced to work with what I had while implementing the point-docking system.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Oct 11 UTC
Gotcha - Well maybe Kestas can write in some mod forum powers to give you folks the freedom to get some more obvious rules in place. Temporary/permanent forum bans and such as well as being able to sticky threads or lock and/or remove them.

"I don't think we've ever banned anyone for cheating accusations."
I didn't mean banning people for the accusations but rather banning the accusations.

I don't see many people using it as diplomatic tool as much as I see people accidentally (or a little on purpose) posting them in the forum because there is not an easier way to do it.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
11 Oct 11 UTC
Things such as that are being considered, although my position still stands that I really don't want to be a forum moderator : )

"I don't see many people using it as diplomatic tool as much as I see people accidentally (or a little on purpose) posting them in the forum because there is not an easier way to do it."

It doesn't happen now because we enforce the rule. It's been a serious problem in the past.

Maybe nominate *a* forum mod form the gorup of people you all would consider for mods and ask them if they want the job. some people love that. Just not Diplomat33, please. :-)

Well, i guess the mods might really think i am a multi with mad marx. they have been sending me interrogating emails. WOW, i was just kidding here people.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
17 Oct 11 UTC
So clearly if you are getting emails about being a multi it would be because of some other reason then this thread. So either you are lying completely or you are being investigated for something else, in either case, you probably needn't bother posting in a thread that accuses the best player here of anything. Message me or make a new thread if you feel the irresistible urge to reply, thanks!

We normally don't comment on current cases, but since you've brought it up:

I've reviewed your case and suggest you respond to the mod handling your case in a serious and honest fashion.

Inflation in GR?
Does your GR naturally rise over time? Given the statement that you supposedly improve each game you play for each experience, if you are in the top 300 now, is it natural to fall within the, say, top 150 6 months from now?

Draw vs point gain survive
Clearly, in WTA, the draw is superior. But what about in PPSC? Would you rather draw for 1/4 the stack, or take a survive for 1/3 of it? I tend to chose the second option so far, because that will maximize my points, and GR I believe.

Are there those who disagree? Do some people believe that anything less than a draw is a loss, even if it's worth more points/GR, and are these the same people that refuse to play PPSC?

The United States has assassinated an American citizen, never having been charged or indicted; this has sent a precedent that anyone the government deems a "threat" by a legal analysis the government won't even release can be blown up from the sky. There is no outcry or even discussion among most Americans; he is a terrorist. When people exchange liberty for security, they deserve neither.

So, I'm reading Joyce's Ulysses this week as part of my studies. It's a renowned and controversial text so I figured many of you here would have something worthwhile to offer me on it.
