Equilibrium In World Diplomacy
Are there some statics showing how many times win each country in the World Diplomacy? It would be interesting, because I have seeing and I think some countris like China, Western Canada and Kenya have a lot of victories, but frozen antartica is the big looser.

What do you think? Do you think there are some countries with handicap?

Can I get a witness? Uh I mean a sub?
I don't know how this works. But I'm going to be out of pocket for a few days and don't want to make everyone else stop the games I'm in. I'm in two games - one as France (admittedly not doing so hot) and one as Austria, doing okay.

Anyone want to sub for me? Is that allowed? Question marks?

Something is Rotten In the State of Our Kids' Education...
So, I tutored my 4th grade kid today...and I have now lost any and all faith I might have had left in public shooling. This teacher of his had all sorts of lovely "creative" ways to "teach" grammar...my favorite: spell the word BACKWARDS if you're confused! THAT'LL unconfuse the poor kid, right? The poor guy couldn't spell a single two-syllable word, and what's worse...HE THOUGHT "P" WAS A VOWEL! P! P! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM... >:O

Any takers? I haven't tried WorldDip in a year, and it would be fun to try it with some engaged and reasonably experienced players.

I want to get the board's opinion on using players that are more or less defeated in the mid to end game (they have 2 or 3 SC's while you and another player have 10+).

Question about mod roles
Do the mods all have different roles (i.e. Are some dedicated to trnies, cheating, etc)? If so, is it possible (or would it be an improvement to) contact the specific mod you need rather than just adding to the current backlog?

Masters Tourny: Current and Future State
Something needs to happen with the Masters Tournament, be it cancellation or continuation, but without the information from TrustMe I don't see how it can be continued. So does anyone have a way to contact him?

Remember that this is a tournament, so participant or not, don't talk about the games themselves. We're only here to discuss what can be done for the whole.

Zero centers, but you get part of the draw??
In game ID=66470, Austria and Turkey agreed to defeat France and split a two-way WTA draw. Well , we took over France and pressed "draw". POOF, game over, but FRANCE gets 1/3 of the draw.

Huh? How can you get part of the draw with zero centers????

Hey everyone,
So I opened a new game and named it after a diplomat who -at an intellectual level- appeals to me (not passing any judgments on the man's politics, it's his way of arriving at a conclusion that I like)

Hello Diplomat,
Thank you, this may free up space on the forum for other relevant topics like playing diplomacy. My two cents for your thread then: I believe Europe (I am Dutch myself) has a big problem: few people seem to really understand the underlying structure of the economic/financial crisis we are facing. The parliament of my country appears to lack both legal experts as well as financial experts to really understand the problems that we are facing and this makes effective democratic control very difficult.
The problem is further aggravated by the rise of populist parties who appeal to the instincts of large groups of people who feel the fact that we're in a crisis means that the system "failed" to take care of their finances properly and we shouldn't assist the mediterranean countries, but eject them from the Euro-zone somehow. Even though instinctively I can see what they mean, I wonder if intellectually that is a reasonable point of view.
I wonder if the "Tea Party" movement in the US plays a similar role and whether the US citizens on the forum believe their leaders in Congress (not so much the administration) can still exercise effective democratic control of the government.
Also I am curious whether Europeans generally share the views I express here and see the same problems in their own nations.
Also, I wonder how the rest of the world regards the problems that currently face Europe and to what extend they are similar to theirs and/or affect their own countries.
...Discuss :)

This won't work. There are too many topics to have in this one thread. It will be too cluttered with too many debates going at the same time imo.

@redhouse : You'd be hard-pressed to find an American who has much faith in Congress to get anything done. Strangely enough, we still vote for the guys ... the old saw is that it's always somebody else's representative who's the problem.

UDDS stands for Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule [1], and refers to an United States Environmental Protection Agency mandated dynamometer test on fuel economy that represents city driving conditions which is used for light duty vehicle testing.[2]
It is also known as U.S. FTP-72 (Federal Test Procedure) cycle, LA-4 cycle, in Sweden as A10 or CVS (Constant Volume Sampler) cycle and in Australia as the ADR 27 (Australian Design Rules) cycle. [3]
Though it was originally created as a reference point for fossil fuelled vehicles, it can also be used to be able to give estimates on how many miles an electric vehicle will do on a single charge. (Random Wikipedia Article).

Where are you from? Do your countries have similar issues as mine?
