EOG Gunboat Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry-12
Game Link: gameID=68341 Hey guys, thought I'd create a thread for anyone to offer their thoughts. For my part, I think my play as France highlights the importance of sticking with a game even if things look really tough - I was fighting off 3 countries for the first half of the game but still came out on top. To get such a stiff competition situation was great fun! Thanks for the interesting game all and I look forward to no. 13.
Hello all. I entered my orders and to my suprise, they didnt happen! I had my fleet norway move to st. petersburg with support from moscow, and England had his army st. petersburg move to Norway with support from Barents Sea fleet.
Where people would be entertained by a 9-year old multi-accounter who gives himself away by using suspiciously similar spelling mistakes on both his accounts, or uses the same crappy translator to let people know that it is time to "ENJOY TO LIVE GAME!!!"...
I have sent a message to the game mods about a no ingame messaging World XI game Im in days ago without reply - and I think its a clear case of either A) metagaming or B) Multi-account because the level of co-op without any supposed comms is unbelievable.
So far nothing at all from the mods - not even an acknowledgement of the mail - what should I do?
"Bankrupt Greece purchases 400 M1A1 Abrams tanks (defencegreece.com) submitted 2 days... ...1 day ago Google News turns up zero results to back up this claim and the original article is down. Allow me to be the first to call bullshit. ///1 day ago* All FMS sales of major defense equipment is published to the Federal Register by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency here *http://www.dsca.mil/PressReleases/36-b/36b_index.htm) M1A1 to Greece is not on that list."
ok so this became a conversation about the debt... I have no interest to talk about it. I didn't choose to get born here, neither did I choose to have those crappy politicians. heck if Australia invited me I would go there right now. TC: you are such a mega troll dude. You are not invited to play with me. You suck too much.
@Victorious - you think I'm happy about *our* debt load? Please - I've been bitching about the deficit for a decade.
We actually have other advantages besides the dollar being the global reserve currency. Not being tied into the Euro - which removes many tools for debt adjustment - is one of them. And many of these "benefits" just mean the day of reckoning for us is pushed further out, it doesn't mean it isn't coming for us.
But that doesn't mean I'm a hypocrite for pointing out the Greek economic situation sucks - *both* our economic situations suck, and the citizens of both nations are ultimately to blame. But that doesn't give them a free ride, either.
hellalt, maybe you should start another thread if you want to talk about Diplomacy. It's true that strategy and tactics alone will not win you this game. You need Diplomacy.
"That's why I have became so disappointed from the games here. People can only think in a basic first level. No way they can understand strategies. They just ally with the one with the best manners."
They ally with the ones who are the most convincing. I have never played with you so I am not sure what you are like to play with, but you have a reputation. Maybe chainsaw Diplomacy is not working for you as well as you would like. Given your superior ability at strategy and tactics, the only thing that can be letting you down is your Diplomacy. Really, if other players are not very good at strategy and tactics, that should be to your advantage. If not, you are doing something wrong. Clearly, given your GR you are a very good player, so don't take my comments the wrong way please. But you have raised he topic and it is an interesting subject. Do you players really tend to ally with "the ones with the best manners?"
I started this thread as a way to have some fun trolling and it worked but I'm bored of it now. You all know I'm an attention whore. I don't believe only Americans are stupid. I actually think that both Americans and Greek are stupid. Humanity in general is stupid. Nevertheless I do believe that at least 50% of the people here don't understand tactics. Also, I have a live example of a masters game that I was willing to donate a country the solo just because another country irritated me, yet he won't take the solo because he dislikes me as a person. How stupid can that be? In general I cannot find much challenge in this game anymore. I'm looking for some new challenge but I can't seem to find anything interesting. I'm also in a 151 gunboat in who the players are rather good (since 6 are alive in 1910) but still it doesn't look appealing enough. And to set some things straight I dont always rant in games. I do it whenever I have lost my interest in the game. When that happens I have my way of fun challenging everyone to attack me. That's just self destructive but who cares. Also TC I only play to win. That's why when I lose my solo chances I don't give a shit If I draw or get defeated. And for those who question my tactical skills let me remind you that I was in the final four in the relevant cup in the Austria vs France version of the game beating theghostmaker and figles among other (losing to ms bent if I remember correctly). Unfortunately tactics cannot get you anywhere in this game. My biggest tactical success so far was defending as England against both France and Germany in one game (letting fleets get disbanded then building armies) and also a game where I defended as France against England (ms bent) and Germany with both of them making no progress for 5 years.
Yep, TC is still nothing but an ad hominem troll. Back on mute he goes. But before he does.
Hey TC, Oh almighty one. What is your GR? I bet it isn't what hellalt's or mine is. *That* is the measure of a Diplomacy player. That and having more wins and draws combined than survives and defeats. Points just mean you may have lost a big game her or there because you choose to play the better players and occasionally get your ass handed to you on a platter. But GR tells the tale of your overall skill. Do you know what your GR is?
"Please present a scenario where Greece can pay off their outstanding debts."
It needs to grow the economy. Austerity isn't going to do that. Unfortunately Greece is too small to do much against the global economic headwinds, but a giant stimulus would help. Recovery = higher tax receipts = being able to pay off debt. Usually this is done by expanding exports. Sadly for Greece, they're on the abomination called the Euro, so they can't depreciate their currency to make it cheaper to buy Greek exports. And large economies like Germany don't buy anything from anybody, so they're kind of screwed in that respect.
FUCK OFF HELLALT. If you are too much of a pussy to handle the forums and think you need to leave, then fucking leave. You are as bad as Draugnar looking for self-confirmation that his assinine muting of people is OK. GO AWAY. NOBODY CARES IF YOU LEAVE, AND NOBODY WILL BEG YOU TO EITHER STAY OR RETURN.
hip hip hooray! The other Greek entered the forums! ps: You are all right about your evaluation of the Greek situation. Nothing can be done. We are doomed and destined to leave like horseless nomads (Black Adder humor attempt). Our only chance is rebellion but I don't see that happening either. The king is dead. Long live the king!
Suggest 1 TV show you think absolutely MUST be seen by others--and espeically those who are maybe in another country and not familiar with the show. The NEXT person who comes along must watch an episode of said show, and suggest one for the next person...and so on and so forth, until all shows ever to air on the Tube are watched by the WebDip community. :)
I don't know if anyone is interested in studying or analyzing things like that, but I am. When I was first starting to play diplomacy (back in, oh, February?), I immersed myself in reading all about the strategies and theories that people had written articles on. Since discovering this site (back in, oh, last week?) I've really come to enjoy the Ancient Med variant.
