If you are playing for points... make sure its 101 or greater.
Too many Multis again... I'm not going to name names or point fingers since we can't but it's getting to the point where I am playing half the time with multis and losing an assload of points. They are getting even more clever and using a new "slave" account every few games. Watch out fellow fair players.

CONSERVATIVE MAN
Funny....the littel boy calls himself a "man",and yet so very often his posts are whiny, bitchy, little-boy posts asking for basic relationship advice. Since he knows mostly nothing about anything....should he have to change his name?

He is a dumbfuck, both poltiically and socially. How pathetic.....but I'm sure his Mommy is proud of him....<sigh...> (I hear she has a *firm grip* Isn't that right, eh? ConservativeMan???

Civil Discourse
I have always enjpyed civil discourse, where I can have a battle of philosophy, theology and history with someone while maintaining civil. With that in mind, I am thinking of going to a local mosque and asking if there is someone that would participate in an interfaith discussion. Are there others who enjoy this type of thing, or am I weird in this.

Can anyone critique my essay?
This is an essay for my English summer assignment. Note that I'm a sophomore in high school, so don't expect it to sound like an English major wrote it. Also, it's about a mentor of mine, dead or alive. I chose Jesus, and I hope that the atheists on here are unbiased enough to give a good review.

Can we program a semi-anon variant to decrease likelihood of multi and meta cheaters?
The variant will show who's playing but not what country he or she is playing. Then the players are able to spot metagamers and possibly multi cheaters right away.
Please give feedback on idea and feasibility.

I think my favorite performance of all time would be Dustin Hoffman in the Graduate. His performance was really fresh at the time. I don't cinema had ever seen anyone quite like him.
Other greats, for me: it's hard to go past Robert De Nero. Jack Nicholson is a great persona actor. He only made a couple of great films, but I would say that Peter Seller's talent was truly remarkable, even if not fully realized.
In more recent times, I am a huge fan of Jim Carrey. I think he is a genius.
Actresses: Meryl Streep, Holly Hunter, Renee Zellweger, Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams.

Marlon Brandon as best actor ever. Best roles in On the Waterfront and The Godfather.
Meryl Streep as best actress ever. Best role in Out of Africa.

What actor appeared in only five films before he died and each of the five films he was in was nominated for best picture yet he was never nominated for any academy award. In each of the five films he shared the screen with actors who won Best Actor Oscars, yet he held his own in each and every film.

Best Dramatic Actors:

Sir Lawrence Olivier, Marlon Brando, Sir Patrick Stewart*

Best Comedic Actors:

Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, Gene Wilder

Best Dramatic Actresses:

Julie Andrews, Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland

(Just can't think of any "Best Comedic Actresses"...)

Top 3 Favorites NOT On This List:

Rex Harrison, and then Kenneth Branagh and Kate Winslet (and EVERYONE knows why)

;)

And I'll lastly just note I think the most all-around talented person in the last 100 years of theatre and film was...

Orson Welles--for mastery unmatched in front of and behind the camera.

And the funniest outtake and star-rant ever...anyone for peas? ;)

And to round out my list...

Obiwan's Top 10 Favorite Perfomances of All-Time:

10. Tom Hulce--Mozart in "Amadeus" (Historical hiccups aside, THIS is what I imagined Mozart to be, it's such a perfect matchup...and that LAUGH...!)

9. Heath Ledger--The Joker in "The Dark Knight" (What? No pop-culture figures? Why so serious?)

8. Kate Winslet--Ophelia in "Hamlet (1996)" (She's here for taking what's probably one of if not the hardest tragic Shakespeare heroine--excluding Lady Macbeth, as she's not exactly "heroic," is she?--and giving a rare performance, namely, one that's more than jsut the customary sighs and sobs and suicide...she feels like a real person, not just a plot device for the men to play around with)

7. Ian McKellan--"Richard III (1995)" (So great even Olivier shall not pass him!)

6. Clint Eastwood--The Man With No Name in "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" (I'd argue Best Western Performance Ever here)

5. Groucho Marx--Rufus T. Firefly in "Duck Soup" ("Not that I care, but where is your husband?" "Why, he's dead." "I'll be he's just using that as an excuse." "I was with him 'til the very end!" "No wonder he passed away." "I held him in my arms...and kissed him!" "Ah, I see, then it was murder. Will you marry me? Did he leave you any money--answer the second question first.")

4. Audrey Hepburn/Julie Andrews--Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady" (Hepburn for the film version, Andrews for the stage version...both were great, both get the slot here)

3. Marlon Brando--Don Corleone in "The Godfather" (You CANNOT refuse this...)

2. Kenneth Branagh--Hamlet in "Hamlet (1996)" (THIS is what I think of when I think of Hamlet!)

1. F. Murray Abraham--Salieri in "Amadeus" (GO...WATCH HIM...NOW)

And an Honorary Placement for Sir Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard; no movie role--not even "First Contact" was strong enough to place him in there alone, but between the films and TV series, he earns a spot here.

I think the greatest actor of all time would have to be Clint Eastwood. Between the Dirty Harry films, The Man with No Name series, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, and Gran Torino, he is definitely up there.

Sylvester Stallone is also up there, with the Rocky series and the most recent Rambo film.

The best television actor would have to be Carroll O'Connor. His roles as Archie Bunker in "All in the Family" and Chief Bill Gillespie in "In the Heat of the Night" is a testament to his versatility.

In terms of versatility & sheer acting ability it has to be Sir Patrick Stewart in recent years.
In terms of actors whom, when in a film I have allways enjoyed regardless of how rubbish the film.
The following come to mind:-
Arnold Swartzerniger, Sylvestor Stallone, Yule Brenner, Clint Eastwood & Tony Curtis.

In terms of a comedic actor that could allways make me laugh at his silly slapstick routines
yet could & would in all his films bring me to tears of guilt & embarresment for being cruel & thoughtless in attitude to other peoples feelings :- Norman Wisdom.

Actresses are difficult to evaluate.
Since the days of Sophie Loren, Audrey Hepburn & Elizabeth Taylor the only two that come to mind with all round versatility & ability are Maggie Smith & Judy Dench.
However, there are loads that I have thought to be excelent in specific roles only.

If you also consider animal actors.
When I was just a teenager there was a b/w TV series called Lassie.
I can honestly say that I never, ever got through a single episode of this show, without having to leave the room to hide my tears. (Men did not cry in public in those days, it was a sign of weakness).
For some reason I have a far greater empathy for animals than I have for people.

For actors in an animal costume it has to be Roddy McDowell in Planet of the Apes & sequels.

But at least Matt Damon is better than the person who put Sylvestor Stallone. Does anybody else barely understand what he is saying at times..he sounds so stupid..."uhh I am big and uhhh I kick ass. uhh"

Just because you sell a lot of movies or make a big series does not make them good..just shows that there are to many idiots nowadays that think Transformers is the best movie ever cause it had two follow ups...NO ITS NOT.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
08 Aug 11 UTC
In all fairness, while I wouldn't even begin to include him in a "Best Actor" discussion...

Stallone DOES have two iconic characters in Rambo and Rocky, the latter of which starred in 6 movies, one of which won an award for Best Picture...

And I think Rocky's a great American icon, to be honest, and it's precisely Stallon'es mumbly, unclear delivery that helps make him that way.

Most folks don't come onto the scene with the commanding diction and annunciation of an Olivier reciting classic poetry...

They mumble and humble their way through their lives, like Rocky, so the delivery really does work for the character (and even more so because he's a boxer...come on, outside of Muhammad Ali, isn't Rocky's punch-drunk delivery more of how boxers tend to sound after fights? Just on average?)
Riphen (198 D)

Your right...but talking about all his movie....yea it works for Rocky but that is about it..even if it does work in other movies as well........ a truly great Actor can play a variety of different roles.

True.

But he's certainly not the worst actor ever...

I have a SEETHING HATRED of Will Ferrell...so seething a hatred I don't even care if I've just spelt his name incorrectly or not! ;)

HORRIBLE actor in INSULTINGLY-AWFUL films that does nothing but stupor the intelligence of the audience and pander to the lowest of the lowest common denominator, and ever film he makes that sells only ensures more of his sickening films are made and gives studios the green light to rpoduce idiocy...

And if you've read reviews for "The Smurfs Movie," you know exactly what I mean, studious ahve been getting away with this worst brand of humor for far too long (and I MEAN the worst...at least insulting stereotypes require some effort to make it work as a joke, for goodness' sake! When mapleleaf and I ahve more intelligent insults and jabs in a troll session on an Internet forum than a multi-million dollar film, you know the industry has gone down the toilet...there used to be truly-intelligent comedies made! What happened? Hacks like Will Ferrell and the moronic, half-breed writers who spew his dreck material from orifices not fit to see the light of day...

Wow. That was quite a bit of rage.

Bad mood, sorry...though I DO mean it, HORRIBLE ACTOR, he and like-minded writers MUST BE STOPPED!) ;)

@ Riphen

Actually, his slur is a complication from childbirth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvester_Stallone

The most recent Rambo movie was critically acclaimed, as was 5 out of 6 Rocky movies (only the fifth Rocky movie sucked, the rest were great)

All Matt Damon has is a bunch of decent movies. He hasn't had a really big blockbuster or an iconic contribution to culture.

Sylvester Stallone wrote the script to Rocky in three days.

I don't share your "seething hatred", but I think his films are not that good. Anchorman was his only good one, and that wasn't because of him; it was because of the writers. He's not the comedic genius that everyone seems to think he is. He'll never be on par with legends like John Belushi.

I agree with most of your points about Will Ferrel (although I believe there is some good humor hidden in his movies) I think his role in Stranger Than Fiction was good and in Elf he was spectacular.

@Riphen
While I admit part of interest in Damon is from the Bourne movies, but I believe he has a larger variety of incredible roles more than most actors. The Talented Mr. Ripley, Good Will Hunting, The Departed, True Grit, 30 Rock (Carol), The Ocean's movies, Dogma, and even Saving Private Ryan. And what about your favorite actors? Or is it just Daniel Day Lewis?
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

@ Tom

Yeah, I forgot to mention Christian Bale. His performance as Batman was/is superb.

@ Darwyn

Tom Hanks is also very talented. I was extremely impressed by his performances in Apollo 13 and Forrest Gump.

Anyone who can play a gay AIDS victim, a dumb southern guy, and an astronaut is a good actor.

@ urallLESBIANS

I was unimpressed by Matt Damon in True Grit. Of course, the original cast was simply legendary.
______________

I can't believe no one has mentioned John Wayne.
Riphen (198 D)

Christian Bale is also inspiring. Up and Coming Star ---> Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I guess it is just me. Yes Matt Damon has great roles and is good but not the best..That is just me.

Basically I cant wait to see what they do with the new Lincoln movie that has Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln and Joseph as his son..Since I like both of those actors and Spielberg is directing. It is one movie I will defiantly see.
