Pretty much the whole time. Russia sounded really aggressive in his negotiations to me so I took Black Sea. Austria supported me to Bulgaria.

Wish I could show you the game Eden but I convinced everyone to cancel. Germany (who was in the lead but not for long.) had to go. They said lets draw. I said 6 way draw fuck that.

Russia wasn't lying in that I originally intended to work with him vs Turkey in Spring 01, but since Russia refused to DMZ Galicia that seemed rather odd, and then he obviously ratted me out to Turkey so I became irritated, and quickly tried to establish a firm alliance with Turkey, which ended up working. Had there not been total newbs in the West, and had Germany not capitulated all of Scandinavia to Russia in the early going, we might have finished off Russia early and been able to face down Germany with ease.

I didn't care if it was a draw or cancel. I had half a mind to let Germany die because the newbs wouldn't have been able to take advantage anyway. And Russia was his ally so it didn't help him any.

It's difficult to make the case Germany wouldn't have had the lead for long - he controlled all of England, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, and had fleets in North Sea and Norwegian Sea, with Russia not really in any position to defend. Not to mention he had soldiers in France, and was not to far from taking away the French SCs and probably the ones on the Iberian peninsula once he got a fleet down there to help. Not to mention that, as I said, France claimed it was his first game, and I don't believe he understood the support concept, as he would repeatedly move multiple units into the same region, or even his own units into another region with his own units without moving the unit already present in that region
