I was going to make a thread about it. I don't know the attitude of most Australians, but the commercial channels seem to orgasm every time the wedding is mentioned. And the ABC was told to can a planned satire (by the Chaser) or they would have their broadcasting rights removed. Frankly it is a complete piece of shit which glorifies a useless and outdated institution. There is nothing nice to spectacular about it.

I'm kind of ok with the whole idea and the publicity. There're worse kind of celebrity-related news all the time (who slept with who, etc.), while this is at least on a positive note.

I find this whole royal family thing a bit of a state sponsored anachronistic, redundant and expensive piece of rubbish to tell the truth, but love the dress!

Quite an impressive show. Can't say I have ever ardently pro-royal; the idea of monarchy and nobility in the modern age is a bit absurd. Yet the wedding is so classically British, and evokes centuries of tradition and history. I can see why some people are monarchists.

Largeham, shame the Chaser were banned. One of them was on Q&A last night. They played one of the skits they made as part of what was to be their royal special. It was about Prince Philips racist gaffes. Pretty funny stuff.
