Regarding Barcelona, I find their style impossible to watch. The passing orgies make me sleepy. Sure, they sometimes result in very pretty actions but I preffer teams that use their possesion of ball for physical play with uncertain outcome, not for several minutes of making fun from the futile attempts of opposition to get the ball back. But I admit that watching neverending series of successful passes of Barca is much better than watching neverending series of fumbled passes in Czech league. Or that sort of play when the only combination in one team consists of long balls from defenders to strikers, our teams like that too.

haha I call that boot ball, defense just clears the ball and hopes a striker gets near it, worst kind of "strategy". I understand what you say about barca's passing, it can sometime get a little ridiculous, yesterday when they had the ball for 77% of the game, but my high school programs strategy was not unlike barca's, slowly work the ball up in as many small passes as possible.

By saying being a fan should not be easy, do you mean by liking barca and Liverpool I have it easy? if so I root for chicago fire in the states, and right now it's like a bunch of 4 year olds trying to play soccer blindfolded.

MLS is a second tier league on it's way to becoming a very good second tier league. If the US can have a domestic league on par with Holland's or Portugal's, we'll be pretty firmly set to be a top 16 soccer nation.

I don't completely condemn "boot ball", football is won by scoring, not fancy play, and "boot ball" is one of poor man's ways of being dangerous. Quick counterattacks are better but "boot ball" is also viable if the underdog has players with suitable skills, i.e. big and strong. Count in good timing and ability to choose the right spot near the net if "boot ball" is strengthened by "let's hope for free and corner kicks" strategy.

Yeah, cheering for a team that doesn't ridicule itself by its own blatant incompetence on the international stage is definitely easier that cheering for team like Sparta. But the painful defeats make one more humble so it has its merits :)

Teams I usually like to watch are Man U, Werder Bremen, CSKA Moskva, Zenit, NYRB, Seattle Sounders, Leeds, and Olimpia. My favorite of which to watch are Man U. :D

I can't forget Livi too. They will be back in the SPL very soon. They are the model of how to recover from administration.

most fun to watch in my book are Arsenal because younger players, Seattle because well i'm a fan and they have some interesting chracters. my favorite on sounders is Friberg. i really don't like to watch Barca or Man u. probably cause i despise them... but i despise Arsenal as well so i don't know whats up with that.

Well, Leeds is fun to watch...

Arsenal thinks tackling isn't allowed in the sport, except when they do it. I can't stand them. They can never congratulate an opponent. They replaced Man U as the team I despise the most in the EPL. I love it when they get beat by a Bolton or a Stoke.

I can't stand Man U or Arse, or Chelsea, or even Man city

Leeds are fun to watch, except when they blow a fantastic opportunity to get into the playoffs by completely forgetting how to play football in the last few weeks of the season!

Have you read this book ''Forza Italia: A Journey in Search of Italy and Its Football'', I recomend it.

I have not, thanks for recommending it - I'll try to find it at an acceptable price on Amazon. I think the football scene is a very good indicator of society so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that violence, politics and corruption are part of the "game". FIFA & UEFA want to make everything look nice, clean and family friendly, but they're nothing but the head of the football Mafia... not much different from our governments, really!

It's a great book, I havent really gotten into the italian soccer leagues yet, some day though ;)

There's a bigger problem with Italian football than their associations with Mussolini - it's the fact that their football is unbearable to watch. I don't think Lazio has any closer links to fascism than AS Roma anyway.
