Hello. I am a long time member to PHPdiplomacy, but I have been in a hiatus for over a year. Can anyone tell me what the new features are in the site since I last played. I am looking for a few high profile games.
I'm nearly done with the report I have been putting together. Austria, England, France and Germany are complete. I'm in the process of working on Italy, Russia, Turkey and some general statistics not dealing with any specific country.
So i'm in a high point non-WTA gunboat, and everyone is playing a top notch game, we are able to communicate using support holds, etc. But then I stab my ally for SCs and profit. I feel sort of bad about it, because i'm essentially stealing a lot of points from somebody that was nice enough to play with me.
How can I feel better about myself in these circumstances?
“In a time in which Communist regimes have been rightfully discredited and yet alternatives to neoliberal capitalist societies are unwisely dismissed, I defend the fundamental claim of Marxist theory: there must be countervailing forces that defend people’s needs against the brutality of profit driven capitalism.”
I stumbled on a very minor bug yesterday. If I have an army in Ruhr, supporting fleet in Belgium to hold, but I change that to support holding an army in Holland, it says: "Army Ruhr support hold to fleet Holland". Should this be fixed?
Hello, I have an idea for a game. The gameID=58416 is set up with No messaging and anon players. Normally the rule is not to discuss ongoing games in the forum, but here, this will be the point of the game. (I got this idea from the dark press game)
A friend of mine just came back from a pub quiz, which they won. The prize of £150 all came to the final question, "If Baghdad is the most dangerous city in the world, where is second?" What answers would you have given and why?
My name is Gigantor, and I'm a Diploholic. (HI, GIGANTOR!) I'm going away for two months this summer, and as a consequence I have told myself not to start any new games until September. I'm down to my last one, and even that will be over soon. Somebody console me. *breaks down in tears*
I am not confident that France and England are different players in "The Return of the Conqueror" game Can a fleet in English Channel that belongs to England support a french army in Bel if they do not talk to each other or "is" the same player? This makes the confidence in this site VERY LOW!
I've just noticed that there's (something that's potentially) an error in the timestamps on the forum. The stamps shouldn't specify the day/date/month when that date is not *today*, but in fact they don't specify when the post was created within the last 24 hours. Perhaps this was intentional, but when I see a timestamp reading 03:00 PM, even if it's actually 2:30 PM, I don't immediately realise that it was yesterday. Issue or not?
I'd like to start a high-quality game with players I haven't played before. I'd like to get people who are newer to the site involved, but veterans who I don't know are also OK. The game will be WTA and I'd like non-anon, but if people really want anon that's fine, too. I reserve the right not to be your friend : ) If Tallfred is still interested, I've reserved a spot for him.
I owe a good deal of my knowledge of prominent European cities to Diplomacy. I was curious as to how well my fellow diplomats would do. I challenge you to test your knowledge. http://www.travelpod.com/traveler-iq Post your scores and rage about how little you know of the African continent inside.
I think it's great that people love talking politics and philosphoy so much, but there is only so much of it I can handle. However, I do know we've got a lot of technologists here as well, so I thought I'd pilot a Tech/Sci spin-off of obi's infamous series. I'll try to find an interesting thing to talk about, which people can comment on, or you can share your own stuff.
All 16 teams are set! The Rangers and Blackhawks just squeak in, the Hurricanes and Stars jsut miss out, and all three California teams, the Kings, the sharks, and my Ducks, are in the playoffs...more Californian teams than Canadian teams! So...who'll defeat who, and when the dust settles, which team will get to drink from Lord Stanley's Cup this year? :D
Ovie is not a leader, Caps D are pushovers and unlike during the series against Rangers, whole Caps team played like a bunch individuals against Bolts. Knuble was a beast though, he should get the C ASAP.
And it speaks volumes about your team if its second best player in the series is someone like Neuvy.
My how things change...what happened last night and other two games previous is why Detroit is called Hockeytown folks. Watch and be amazed as history is about to be made. :D
“There are games that define what franchises have become. Game 6 Tuesday was a game that delineated the blueprint that has become the Detroit Red Wings… the professionalism, will to win and competitive spirit that drive this team forward.” Morris Dalla Costa, London Free Press
“While the Red Wings’ best players continually rose to the challenge, the Sharks’ big guns fell silent. Not only are the Sharks 0-for-10 on power plays during their three-game slide, their top two players — Joe Thornton and Patty Marleau — each have yet to score a goal in the series.” Rich Walcoff, San Francisco Examiner
“The only doubt now resides in San Jose, where the Sharks, perennial playoff disappointments, face the possibility of their biggest choke yet. Former Shark Jeremy Roenick just called Patrick Marleau ‘gutless’ on television. The Sharks all need to show some guts now.” Nicholas J. Cotsonika, Yahoo Sports
“If their confidence hasn’t been dented, it should be. Seeing a perennial championship contender such as Detroit come back with three straight wins should have any team shaking in its skates.” Pierre LeBrun, ESPN
“Now it’s up to the Sharks to disprove all the doubters that will cite perennial playoff disappointments, while the Red Wings have already shown the heart of a champion.” Scott Cullen, TSN
“Detroit has the momentum, Detroit has the Sharks on their heels, Detroit is on the verge of history…. And the Sharks are in full back pedal.” Tim Kawakami, San Jose Mercury News
“This is a matchup between a tested, Original Six franchise with four Stanley Cup rings since 1997 against the Chicago Cubs on ice. For Red Wings fans, this is the fun time of the year. For Sharks fans, it’s getting old.” Adrian Dater, Sports Illustrated
“At the moment, it’s difficult to debate San Jose’s status as the kings of playoff failure. The Sharks may be one loss away from cementing that reputation for all time.” Bob Duff, Vancouver Sun
What do you make of Huhne going off the deep end on the Tories? I think Cameron's crowd really made a mess of things by attacking the Libs for broken promises when those broken promises helped support the Tories in government. I think an election is likely. What say you?
Are there any varients of diplomacy where a unit, surrounded and not able to retreat, are captured rather than destroyed (perhaps to be used as future bargaining chips). I would think that would add alot to the game. Just curious.
