Retirement

Scrub Bounce Question

So, scrubby question, but it's about two units bouncing to protect one territory.

Say a body wanted to protect the lynch pin of Gascony. Said person had a fleet on Spain's NC and an army in Paris. The person in question orders A Par - Gas, F Spn (NC) - Gas. Now under normal circumstances, this would bounce both units leaving Gascony open. Now, say Spain was dislodged, shouldn't it still bounce Paris out of Gascony, or would Paris just move in to Gascony and fleet Spain's move nullified?

I know that one can cut supply with a dislodged unit, but can one not bounce with a dislodged unit?

The bounce still happens unless one of them is supported. A move attempt will cause a bounce even if the unit in question ends up dislodged. The only exception to this is a convoy where the convoying fleet gets dislodged, then the move attempt never reaches the desired territory to cause the bounce.

See, that's what I thought, but in a game I'm in the unit in Paris just moved to Gascony and wasn't bounced back in to Paris, allowing for a rather annoying loss of SC... In cases like this, does one contact the GMs? Or does one just suck it up and keep playing.

Ah, now to add a twist, what if there was an army in Gascony that was supported in to Spain, could then the unit in Spain still bounce Paris out of Gascony, or would the unit vacating Gascony counter the unit in Spain's bounce as that would be two units trading places, which is illegal.

God I love the finer details to this game.

Are you sure the move from Paris wasn't supported? Or was Gascony perhaps occupied by an unit that attacked Spain?

If there was an army in gas that was supported into spa, then the unit in spa can't create a bounce in gas, ergo par-gas "succeeds."

Peterwiggin is correct. The initial explanation provided by Draugnar is correct in all cases *except* for when the dislodgment is coming from GAS, or if a hostile unit (say in MAO or MAR) supported PAR-GAS.

If Gas were supported into Spa, then there would be no bounce because the unit trying to get into Gas was dislodged by Gas. That is why Par got in.

Simple rule of thumb. If a unit attacks a territory that is attacking or supporting an attack on it, the first unit has no effect on that territory unless it succeeds in dislodging it. So it won't trigger a bounce in the territory nor will it cut the support provided by the unit int hat territory.

To be berated by Draugnar post cheating accusations here!

"Because the best deterrent to crime is strong, public punishment. If everytime I verbally berate the person and keep it at the top for a time, maybe I can keep another cheating accusation from being posted".

loading orders in mozilla

Orders cannot load in firefox. it says "loading orders" but they won't load.
I have disabled all add ons but it wasn't fixed.
any ideas?

Live Game Etiquette

I'm curious to hear different takes on live game etiquette. If there are no-shows, or players miss the first phase, it seems to be that the game should be cancelled or at least a draw. However, if one player is the benefiary of said no-show, then he or she has little or no incentive to vote for a draw or cancellation, forcing all the other players to participate in a game in which he or she has a distinct starting advantage.
