How do I contact a mod?
I'm in a game where a certain player is stalling the game because we paused it (for another guy who would be away) and when the person got back, we tried to unpause and someone won't unpause it. It's been about a week since we all voted except him.
gameID=42734
Persia won't unpause. Does this seem like an appropriate situation to bring in a mod, or should I wait?

Can you change the color of the pieces to identify who has what where more easily? Starting out is easy enough but I can see myself getting screwed up down the line.

Hi, I'm playing in Boatgun (gameID=44280). I'm going on a holiday, so I need to pause, or can someone sit for me? I'm going away tomorrow afternoon, so it's urgent.

Who should be the dictator of the United State of America?
Now that it has been proven in various threads that democracy does not work, and that a dictatorship is the best option, who should it become the supreme commander of the free world? Nominations now open.

Thank you for your continued patience as the games finally start. I am aware that some games have 10 phases. I was forced to increase the phase length because people were unable to join in a timely fashion. Once the games have started, they will be reset to 25 hours. Please do not cancel the games. You'll all just get a little extra diplomacy time the first round.

No, I think it's legit. He just made sure to not win until he had forced a disband of every enemy unit. Then the game was his to do with as he pleased.
And in PPSC, too.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
02 Jan 11 UTC
It is legit, he encircled and forced the disbandment of every enemy army after capturing their home sc meaning they couldn't build. Then he played around for a bit (did the St Petes convoy a few times) before winning the game in an epic fashion.

anlari (8640 D)

partially I got lucky with germany invading austria instead of defending his homeland, which left them both without home SCs so that anything disbanded would stay that way.

also I kept saying I was on a crusade to kill austria (who was actually quite annoying) and convinced france to be my mercenary and take SCs from me so that I could do it without hitting 18. I think he only found out he wouldn't be able to keep a good proportion of them in the end game when I convoyed him off to tunis and disbanded his army. or maybe he knew but it was more fun to be convoyed around as merc and die later than die immediately.

I think there should be an option to play to 34. I did on one site which had a bug (needed 18 units not sc) comeback from being down 21-6 to win the game.

If you make a game setting that plays until 34 SC's, then England could just set up the Portugal/MAO/NAO stalemate line and leave Turkey hanging at 30.

Onar (131 D)

I always thought it could be cool to be able to change/set the victory conditions. would that be hard to code? Maybe have a setting for like, 18, 23, and 34?
figlesquidge (2131 D)
10 Jan 11 UTC
Incredibly easy - if you want to try one I'm sure one of us can set you up an olidip variant with a different limit.
That said, 34 leaves the risk of holding the 6SC stalemate line.
Onar (131 D)
10 Jan 11 UTC
Yeah, was thinking of bringing it up on Olidip. I think the 34 limit would be best suited for 1-on-1 games.

nice...
good tactic if you go for the points in supply-per-center :)
was that the reason or was it just cool??
Jamiet99uk (1307 D)
10 Jan 11 UTC
No steephie, you don't get any extra points for winning with more than 18 SCs.

Earlier in the development of this site, you *did* get a greater points reward for winning with 19 or more SCs, and some canny players (I remember DangerDave in particular) would deliberately delay victory when in a commanding position, in order to win with 20 or even more SCs.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
10 Jan 11 UTC
Jamie, normally that is correct, but in this case because every other player was eliminated, I believe he did in fact get 100% of the points. The game page indicates that he got the full 97 D.

I imagine that he did it because he thought it would be cool. The circumstances would have to be just right though, with several countries out of their home centers. Not something you can just choose to do on a whim. Also, it had been brought up on the forum just a few weeks before and the only examples had been where it appeared multi-accounting was a factor.

Haha, well done.

There seems to be a bug in how the orders are presented
http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=34739&viewArchive=Orders
Several years of English moves are clumped together. I suppose this happened since the system got confused by the lack of moves from other players.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

I doubt anlari is in need of the extra points :P

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=34739&viewArchive=Orders#index1

there is what appears to be a bug in the order archive for this game.

The list of english orders once other players had no units left is not broken down by year (i was wondering about those failed convoys from syria to stp...)
orathaic (1009 D(B))

JECE (1322 D)
12 Jan 11 UTC
yebellz and orathaic: Ha ha ha. No, it would be much better to say that anlari submited orders for 296 units in Fall 1926.

anlari: Was NAO-Cly in Spring 1926 a mistake? And how did you get France to do your convoys?
ava2790 (232 D(S))
12 Jan 11 UTC
Well done, Anlari. The convoy of a single enemy unit to the isles is a great tactic to get it out of your hair. I recently (in August) played in an ftf game where I was Italy. My ally, Austria, managed to get a unit past Germany's defenses into MUN, from where he went to KIE and then to DEN. Germany, who owned the 3 English centers convoyed the Austrian army DEN-EDI, and the deal was we would do a 3 way after eliminating France, where Austria would get the 3 English centers as Germany took the 3 French and I took 2 Iberian centers. You would never get this sort of sophisticated alliance in a gunboat.
