Is this the game where you could only join if you promised not to discuss anyones identities. I recall one thread where MM mentioned this several times. Is this why the game was cancelled.

Dunecat is another guy that will join high pot games, besides Ivo, so he's another likely candidate for Italy, though it could obviously be someone else as well, suppose we won't know unless someone speaks up.

spyman, I don't remember how I left things for this big pot game, but I don't think I emphesized that since I wasn't inviting specific people. I did recreate the game and made it password protected so that anyone that joined would have to read my request to not discuss who was who, hopefully that will help this time around.

I was not in that game, seems I missed some heated action :)

Guys - I was Italy in this game and have a lot to say ... but my hands are full right now, so you'll all have to wait for a bit for my MOG. what I will say is that I suspected France and England were colluding this game during that 1901 press that is why I switched and moved against France in 1902, too bad Germany did not buy my diplomacy - not that I blame him.

Russia was an old-timer, he gave me long lectures about how Sweden was Russian and that he's been playing for years and years and that's how it has always been. That sounds more like BESM to me than Dunecat, but I suppose it will be a mystery since I couldn't even guess Babak correctly.

I formally apologize to BESM. I only guessed Russia was BESM because I know BESM started playing at least 20 years ago and Babak was talking about how things were done since the start of time, AND because I know BESM has a lot of points and might be in this game.

honestly - I just wanted to goad the mystery Italy to show himself... but I guess it didn't work. besides I wanted to postpone your gloating "I told you I knew Babak was Russia" routine as long as possible =P haha.

I only want to know one thing---why was this game cancelled? I havent had time or brainpower to follow this entire thread, but I am curious to know, since I almost got into this game, but missed it somehow. I think I am glad that I missed this fiasco. Can anyone summarize in 1-3 sentences what happened?

Short version: Agent K's account was (temporarily) suspended. He spoke in the chat channel, which revealed he was Austria. Even though the situation was eventually resolved, those countries that bordered him felt their diplomacy had been thrown off by the entire situation.

Personally I didn't buy it, but I also didn't want to listen to the whining if we continued

I closed his account, then more information came to light, and he was found innocent.
Very sorry for causing all these problems :(
