Here is the story:
My great-great grandmother was a German settler in Cassdorf, a town in Michigan (founded 1845). Back when this happened, most everyone lived on a farm out in the woods, as did she. Once, when she was home alone with her 9-month-old girl, she had a loaf of bread she had baked sitting out on an open window sill to cool. She then saw and Indian man coming up to the house. She was very frightened about what he might do to her and her daughter. What he did was walk up to the window take the bread, and leave. She thought that would be the end of it, but then the Indian came back a couple of days later with a bag of venison, which he left on the window sill from which he had taken the bread.

This is a true story:
My great-great-great-grandmother lived in a town in Michigan. Don't remember the exact town, but it did rhyme with lasagna. This was back when Indians still freely roamed in Michigan. One day, my grandmother paced a loaf of bread on the windowsill to cool. An Indian walked up, took the bread, and left. My grandmother was very nervous because she had a 9 month old daughter and didn't know if there was going to be trouble. A couple days later, though, the Indian came back and placed a deer on the windowsill in return for the bread.

One day my great great great great great Grandmother was making a pie for me. She set the pie out on the windowsill to cool. Meanwhile an Indian came and stole the pie from the windowsill. A few days later a dead dear appeared on our doorstep. Maybe it was payback for the pie.
