Replacement France needed - League D2 Game 3
France just missed the spring 1901 moves in Game 3 League D2. They remain in a sensible position and will not lose any builds in the first year.
Is anyone left on the replacement list - or can we just open this to anyone interested? Even better, if it is possible, would be if we could get a time extension for the autumn phase and a forced replacement so that France could at least make autumn moves.

Diplomacy theories
I've got some theories regarding different powers in this game, and I thought I'd throw them out there, see what people think. If you've got any of your own, feel free to do the same.

1. Turkey should encourage germany to a three-build start, especially while participating in a juggernaut.

2. Any opening involving Yorkshire is pointless unless england is expecting france to move to EnC.

That's all I've got so far.

1. If your Russia, get Juggernaut or Austria as ally or your dead.
2. If your England, Always move to Yorkshire to see if France is trustworthy, never Edinburgh.
3. If your France, alliance with England is easier but harder, build fleets against Italy and that way you'll have fleets if England stabs you.
Onar (131 D)

I think your wording is a little odd, "alliance with england is easier but harder"?

Three golden rules for diplomacy learned from many games experience

1. Never play when drunk. The damned fleets keep moving to the wrong places if you do, and the number of messages accidentally typed into global increases exponentially.

2. Never, ever, ever make a joke about nationality, race or sex unless you are entirely sure that the person you're making the joke to doesn't share said feature.

3. Sometimes the other chap really is that stupid. Don't fall into the trap of assuming that idiotic play is just a cunning act by a superior player.

Onar, easier to keep than with Germany, but harder to not get stabbed cause he will have more fleets.
"1. Turkey should encourage germany to a three-build start, especially while participating in a juggernaut."

I think I see where this is going, but mind explaining?

"2. Any opening involving Yorkshire is pointless unless england is expecting france to move to EnC."

I disagree. As England, I'm going for two builds if at all possible -- Belgium and Norway. You're going to have to move one of Norwegian/North to make it happen. With the prevalence of F Kie -> Den openings, there's no reason to risk losing North Sea to get a second build. North will then convoy, at which point you have either A Edinburgh or A Yorkshire... and there's no reason not to have Yorkshire, since it's at least capable of covering your ass.

1. Eastern triples never work.

2. Any attack by Italy on Austria must be crushing. Otherwise, Turkey will gain more than you will and then devour you next.

3. Regardless of ally, Germany should always get a second fleet and France should always get a 3rd army in 1902 for protection.

I think that even then, Yorkshire is best used for defence, rather than offence. And if you're going for two builds, you can still convoy out of edi using north.

As to my idea of turkey encouraging a 3-build germany? It stems from my strong belief that germany and russia are natural enemies, one can't do well without the other doing poorly (exceptions to every rule, yadda yadda).
And, if you're part of a juggernaut, russia helps you to grow past the natural block that turkey often hits, while best-case scenario: he hits a roadblock in germany, right around the time that you no longer need his help, worst-case, he eliminates germany, and you continue the juggernaut as planned.
Perhaps, even encouraging a sealion combo would help, but that's another subject, entirely.
Onar (131 D)

@uclabb: I like your third statement, but how can you justify it to england?
"I think that even then, Yorkshire is best used for defence, rather than offence."

Edinburgh is offensive only. Yorkshire is apparently just as good on offense, and provides superior defense...

"And if you're going for two builds, you can still convoy out of edi using north."

Then Yorkshire retains the defensive advantage of covering London. I don't see the advantage...

@Onar: Just that "I always do it" and it is only to (help) secure Scandinavia. I find that it generally dissuades England from attacking you and almost forces their hand into allying with you if only because attacking you would be harder. It also gives them a tangible gain (weak Russia= easy St. Petersburg) and often makes sure England moves toward France early instead of taking Scandinavia and then descending on Germany.
uclabb (589 D)

@President Eden: Edinburgh can be convoyed to Norway. If you move to Yorkshire and decide you want an army in Norway, you cannot try for Belgium.
Valid, but to go for Belgium with the Churchill Opening requires you to vacate the North Sea if successful. I guess if you're willing to do that the Churchill Opening has merit in that respect, but to extend that all the way to "The Yorkshire variant has no applicability if you don't expect France to open to the Channel" is still fallacious, in my opinion.

Edi gives you more options, in case the lowlands, denmark, etc. are all blocked off, you can still land with support in norway. And, even if that becomes a problem, you can support Norwegian sea to Norway, and move edinburgh to yorkshire. (Like I said: I'll never move an army to yorkshire unless I feel threatened)

John Lennon Died Today (the last of my Fab Four Serpae Tetra Fish, That Is)
George died a few weeks in, crushed by a Yellow Submarine (close, the pirate ship.)
Paul was hammered and cut to pieces like one of Maxwell's victims a couple months in.
Ringo starved and left for that great Octopus Garden in the Sky a month or so later.
And now, about 8 months after they set out, John was the last of the Serpae Tetra Beatles to die, if you can Imagine that. :/

Price and Value
I get the feeling on here that most of you feel that the price of something is it's value. That is not true! Value is different for different people. Because of my economic situation I may value a new car more or less than someone else. If I'm hungry, I'll value food more. (continued)

Respond, and I'll PM you the password. Because a gunboat game where one player misses first year builds and CDs, and another player drops in and out, and a 3rd keeps a total of three units immobile in 1901 is a sucky game.
