I'll start apologizing for my weak strategical play in this game. I'm a bit clueless as Italy, and only recently I've got my first draw as Green.
1901 - Austria started with Tri-Ven. A friend pointed out to me that this is not necessarily hostile in a gunboat, as Austria is just trying to avoid Italy moving to Ven and Tyr, but the real reason I decided to attack Austria after this is that I thought he was DEAD. Having a fleet stuck in Tri is one of the worst things that can happen to Austria (I've been there, died), and while it's good to have a weaker ally, it's pointless to have a dead one.
1902 - I try to get Trieste while signing friendship to Turkey...
1903 - ...but Turkey stuck with his plan of finishing me. In retrospect I should have helped stopping the juggernaut, yes, but I tried to stick to my plan too. I manage to get Tri and Vie (two builds!) as Austria tries in vain to make me see the light, but Turkey makes a key move of ignoring my SCs to take an important strategic position with his fleets (which I hadn't overlooked, but didn't want to take a gamble with that).
1904-1905 - a nice cat-and-mouse play with Turkey keeps going while I manage to guess right what to defend every turn, but I know these successes are temporary and try to support Russia into Serbia three times in a row, but unfortunately Russia is too busy fighting England and Germany, so he can't wage another war with Turkey.
1906-1908 - Turkey pushes the right card and my castle goes down. Russia tris to help in the end but unfortunately it's too late for me.
It surprised me that it took so long afterwards for Turkey to accept the draw, I thought at some point Russia, Germany or even France would withdraw their draw votes and Turkey would be in trouble having lost part of Anatolia.
Good game, people!
