Which Do You Prefer- The One Almighty Hero or the Great Multitude?
Watching an interesting thing on LOTR... and someone made the point that THEY think that the Great Many (The Fellowship, and then in other examples Star Trek's Enterprise Crew, King Arthur's Court, Robin Hood and His Merry Men) is a better heroic idea than the Almighty One (Hercules, Jesus, Superman.) Which is better in YOUR opinion?

Brazil, Brasil, and the Federative Republic.
I've noticed on other threads that a few people insist that Brazil is called Brasil, but I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

Btw snafu, I appreciate your discretion in the NAP with me.
Seems to me that Germany happily used the advantage that me missing a few turns gave him but when the tables were turned he threw his toys out of teh pram and went home. Can't have your cake and eat it too Germany.

To the rest of you, apologies for missing a couple of turns. After the first one, and with no threat on the horizon, I chose to wait for my moment. A deliberate misorder or NMR is a valid tactic you know ....
And as soon as I realised you were all p*ssed, I accepted the draw.

How did your absence help me? I would have preferred a live English player actually.

I also never questioned the validity of what you did. Just thought it was cheap.

Anyway, no hard feelings. Sorry for coming down on you. I'll be more careful with NMRed countries next time ;).
Would you have left the centres open and sent extra units into France and Scandinavia if I had been fully active? You gambled that your back was protected and acted accordingly. But sometimes gambles don't pay off.

Maybe it was a cheap move? It's usually a question of perspective. That's Diplomacy.

I like this guy. As annoying as the moves were... he's got a point.
But then again, you could achieve the same moves by simply ordering all your units to hold... this would be more official than simply going afk.
Raptor (0 DX)

But, then everyone would know you're purposefully holding, and you're still active in the game, so your strategy may not work that way. I think we found ourselves a topic for the philosophy guys to discuss.
Careful, Dip communities have splintered over the question ....

But to be fair, I only deliberately NMRed once because I'd already NMRed accidentally which is a no-no .... 5 minutes is pain in the arse sometimes.
Barn3tt (41969 D)

I think ordering all your units to hold is fine. Mis-ordering on purpose is fine. Brutal stabbings are fine. I think that pretending to be gone when you are not is something unique to internet play and I personally wouldn't do it. It would have been rather easy to protect myself and would have a limited effect upon my game had I known otherwise.
Raptor (0 DX)
25 Mar 10 UTC
You're right Barn3tt. It's not something you could do in a face-to-face game... so an NMR on purpose would thus be deemed unfair. After all, in face-to-face games, you generally don't continue on without written orders from all the countries.

This weekend, we shall play a 'venomous sheep' commemorative live WTA gunboat. Whoever is England must play the Yorkshire Pudding.
Absolutely you do, especially in tournament play.

I agree it is a valid tactic that can be used to lull your oppenent into a false sense of security.I wouldn't use it however. In this case just be lucky Venom that Germany didn't use his fleets to break through into the North SEA would have been a costly gamble. Also you stab took away the only real oppostion to R/A alliance.Allowing them to move west faster then you could move east into the vacumm you created.France I think would have kept a Germany for earlier losses. And it was WTA so I think advanced players in Austria and russia would have been happy to split pot once you where all out.

I would like to be included in your nightly WTA'S.Reading the aftermath and in game comments. I find is whats missing in alot of games.Everyone goes there own seperate ways.Sometimes I think other players would like to know what went through your mind to make decsions that where made and this group offers that.So if you want me to partake in your nightly slamfests I would be welcome.

Draw Etiquette
What is the proper etiquette concerning agreeing to a draw when you're coming up to a probable stalemate line. Are you expected to draw immediately upon reaching it? Should you agree to a draw even though you're not at the draw line yet but have little to no chance of breaking through? Is it bad manners to wait until the line is locked in and immobile?
