The quiet forum
Is it just me or has the forum become pretty quiet as late? I used to enjoy coming on in my state of, shall we say, fragileness!! to read some crazy forum chat about religion or moral issues. I come on today, caked to the high heavens and there are no good debates to join - boo!

Calvinists here
I'm curious: how many of the Calvinists on here are five-point Calvinists? And if you're not, but still call yourself a Calvinist, just what part of the theology do you accept?
(I'm interested because I'm writing a research paper called "Calvinism and Lutheranism")

Have a look at the Autumn 1903, but, the supports by two of the souther neighbors are highly suspicious in an ANON game.

It was a bug or I that don't know the rules?
Hello!
In my game I was France and i made a move (in convoy - with a fleet on mid atlantic sea) from Brest to Belgium and i gave support to move from Picardy (with a fleet) and Burgundy (with an army). Germany hold his position on Belgium and gave support to hold from holland (with an army). Why couldn't I took the Belgium?

Only the fleet in the English Channel could have made that convoy.

Or, alternatively, MAO, NAO, Norwegian Sea AND North Sea.
And before people ask....

The reason you were allowed to enter that move (since only POSSIBLE moves are available), is that conceivably you could convoy from Brest to English Channel, and then English Channel could have deposited the army in Belgium. (The fact that the unit in EC wasn't yours is irrelevant - the convoy was possible).
orathaic (1009 D(B))

it is possible for you to have had a convoy route.

EC could have convoyed, also if germany had forced English channel to retreat (bel - EC supported by Pic, say) then MAO, NAO, Norwegian Sea, North sea could all have been ordered to convoy and you could have taken bel in that round-about way.
i think I already said that :P
The fact that MAO NAO Norweigan North is a possible convoy route is irrelevant in this case. If the unit in EC wasn't there, then he would not have been offered the MAO to Belgium convoy, because it wouldn't have been possible then, because there are no units that could complete the convoy along any conceivable route.

I do miss the mail days when we could enter illegal/impossible orders on purpose as a function of diplomacy. I miss that part.
Or in person, where you could 'accidentally' write that your unit in Ukraine supports Sev to Armenia, instead of Armenia to Sev, and hope someone catches your error.

Yes, used to be a whole skill set required to misorder at just the right (or wrong) time. Sometimes it was an accident, but sometimes one did what one had to do. Harder, I find in person since it requires a real poker face to watch his position suddenly turn to shit and act with a combination of surprise and guilt.
Or trying to forget your opponents handwriting quickly, when he left his move sheet for 10 seconds. (Granted, if he handed in moves, it wouldn't matter whether it was his handwriting or not - if its written, its legal). But if he did a quick glance, forgeries work well.
that should say 'forge' not 'forget'....

oh and I thought you just didn't know the rules...

So, forgeries are okay, but multi-ing is not?
Apples and oranges. It was and is a different game online than in person or by mail.

My forging of your moves is totally preventable by you. Don't let go of your order sheet.
There is no way I can prevent you from multi-accounting.

Clearly they're different.
Having said that, personally I don't think forging is allowed, but that sort of thing certainly comes down to the personal preference. For me I think listening in is allowed, but faking/changing orders isn't.
