Well, it appears we lost the original School of War 2 thread. This is a pity, but we have to do what we can with what we have. Kestas, is it feasable to increase the number of active threads (ie: change the cutoff from 50 to 75)?

In honor of a fun topic I'll start the thread not with a specific topic but an open subject that allows for the infinite tangents. Oh, and please it is titled drug use not abuse ^_^ abuse is never fun.
I havent been on the site to play in months, some of you may remember, most wont, I wasnt very prominant. I take it there is a troll problem. Is kestas still with us? And if anyone would care to, could someone please list for me and explain the variants for game play, such as Press, Touch, and UN/Treaty? Thanks all, much obliged to those that give serious answers.
As soon as all three of my games complete, I'm retiring. The forum sucks with all these trolls, and the way NMRs/CDs work can leave you screwed because a turn will run without real orders from a player.
I'm through and sticking with the slower but more respectable Judges.
I don't think it would be too hard (say I because it's been many years since I wrote meaningful code) to automatically pause a game when a player goes CD instead of processing the orders. That would be the best thing since the best thing since sliced bread.
That all being said: Draugnar, I hope you reconsider your plan to leave the site. The community benefits from experienced players of all different playing styles and you've certainly added your unique voice to the forums.
On the subject of Moderators, does anybody else think it would be totally awesome to watch a game played between all the admins on this site? the mods, kestas, ghostie, and I guess some lucky random player would get to play. Not SOW style, I personally don't like that, but does anybody else think it would be cool for the admins to all play each other?
I think allowing the new player a 'phase' to get in would be appropriate. 6 hour game, give them 6 hours. 25 hour, give em 25. You get the idea. It's better than the damage done to the game by having a drop essentially elimnate the dropped player's allies.
I wish the point system was different. For example, you get a point for playing a game from start to finish. CDing loses you a point or maybe two or maybe five. Picking up a CD doesn't get you anything, at least with respect to these points.
Then make different categories. Anyone could play a rookie game. You have to have 10 or more points to play in an intermediate game. Then add maybe one or two other levels, you don't want too many.
And a limit on how many games you can play at a time based on how many games you have finished. If a long time player wants to play in 20 games at once, why not. But rookies should be limited to 4 games or so.
Seems like that would cut out a lot of multi-accounting as well as punish rookies that just stop playing a game that doesn't go well. Teaches them to finish if they want to move up the ladder.

Alderian, that's a pretty good idea. What do you think the effect would be if we changed it from that to, "Picking up a CD doesn't get you anything... but if you pick up a CD and then drop out, you don't lose any" (you know, because it would have been CD anyway).

I like this rule a lot.
I don't like the idea of "if you pick up a CD and then drop out, you don't lose any," because of what happens when idiots constantly pick up and then drop out.
I don't have a really good solution, but I wish there were stricter rules against people who go CD - or at least escalating punishments for each successive CD.
@aoe3rules, continuing what pootercannon said, it may actually be worse if you pick up a CD and drop then drop it.
There was that post recently where a game had 5 different people "play" France. The original person and then four others who picked it up and then went CD driving the other players nuts having to wait and wait and wait for the NMR.
Oh, and my blood sugar is back under control (sort of) so that should help with my personality. I know I've been a whackjob with the posting about the neighbor girls (although they are freaking HOT) and their mom, so if I offended (and I'm sure I did), I apologize.
