I'm with Thucy. I used to paypal but had some problems when they suddenly changed their terms of service and declared my basement clearance as a business because it was over a certain dollar amount. They claim I owe them $140, but I refuse to pay it because when I started the sale those weren't the terms. Basically they changed the menu and raised the prices while I was eating dinner and that is just wrong.

You could mail in money if you want? You could ask Kestas via e-mail for a mailing address.

When you donate on paypal, are you putting in an amount in AUD, so I would need to convert to see how much I'm actually paying?

If I remember correctly, it tells you the conversion before you confirm or it lets you specify the amount in whatever currency you like.

I'll be paypal'ing him a little... won't be a ton (since I don't have much to give), but a little cash is never a bad thing, right?

Using PayPal to change US dollars to AUDs was relatively easy (not the first time I tried, but PayPal recently made it easy!), their is a money converter so you know exactly what you are giving...

You could mail a cheque, alternatively, a direct bank transfer etc.

If you don't have paypal you don't have paypal, mail is definitely very dodgy.

In the states you can go to your bank and get any kind of currency you want, I just got some euros for a trip to visit my brother in Spain...

Not all branches of all banks. Downtown Cinci all has the big ones (Swiss Francs, British Pounds, Euros, Pesos, etc.), but the banks in rural Kentucky do not.

Well, I'm sure there are other solutions in rural Kentucky...

Kestas is the owner and developer of this site. It is by his hard work and money out of his own pocket that we have this wonderful site.

For optimal effect there should be one or two periods a year when there is a fund raiser pushed publicly and it should also be nice if comes from Kestas.I believe that I kicked something like this off back in October and it had a short life, but brought in a few dollars.
In fact an interesting technique in raising money is to have on every new game start set up a button for donating to the site as well as at the bottom or side of every forum,
The key is regular promotion plus having it available on virtually every page so that when people have the itch to donate they can do it right away, after all this thread will disappear soon enough.

Have you ever played with the Cincy Diplomacy group, Fortknox? I don't think they've had a game in years. It was kind of a non-starter as we could never get the full seven it seems.

I would certainly support adding the donate link to the footer of the page, but in fairness I don't think the site is having financial problems any more so i wouldn't be quite so desperate to push people to donate. Not saying they shouldn't (after all, any extra goes to pay for Kestas' dev-time) but its less of an issue than it used to be
