I'm angry about work. They are cutting 2 weeks worth of pay checks. They cut 401k matching. They reduced medical coverage. They cut bonuses. They cut increases. They cut my MBA expense after I already enrolled and paid. And I'm a key figure in a plant that is giving them a record year for profit. All because the other plants are piss poor. Plus, my co-workers (non-USA employees - I work in mexico) get their full benefits, bonuses, increases.

Grumble.

@ whitesammy: It's an auto-supplier, that is lucky not to be supplying to GM or Chrysler. We make the seats. I'd rather not say the name, but we build seat frames.

Maniac (189 D(B))

you make seats for cars/vans that people don't need/can't afford. This may be affecting you disproportionately at the moment because of outsourcing but what you and others will experiance is a result of over production. Did any of your colleagues complain when they were given jobs making things that people didn't need? You have every right to grumble, but try looking at the bigger picture and maybe use it as an opportunity to try something else which doesn't become dependant upon market flucuations.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
31 May 09 UTC
If you tell us the cars that have these seats fitted, we could go around slashing them for you to stimulate demand ;)

Sounds like fun! Anybody know anyone in the autoglass manufacturing industry? I'll be certain to break the windows to get in.
ag7433 (927 D(S))
01 Jun 09 UTC
@Maniac: "I" work in a plant that makes seats for cars and trucks that people are still buying. Our sales are *higher* than plan. We are more profitable than plan. We are in a very good position, good margins, and benefiting from our failing competition. This is why I'm angry. They use the economy as a cover to slash, slash, slash. I know the finances of the company, as I am the plant controller and also do the consolidation for all the locations. The other plants are feeling the hurt of the car companies high inventory & low demand.

Ooh a rant! I love rants! Now to ranting!

I hate atheist people. Why can't they just accept that science is our way of explaining things in non spiritual terms. Tell me any major event that happened in science and I can explain it in religion. Atheists are also so darn stubborn. I met one atheist who believed that time is just a figment of our imagination and that is just a concept we use to explain things. Fortunately, for him, I didn't run into him for the rest of the day and have yet to since. Come on people, time is real and you can't deny that. That guy was an idiot. Now back to Atheists not believing that a higher being can actually control the universe. According to the laws of energy, it can neither be created nor destroyed. So how did it get there, huh? Something with power beyond belief had to get it there some how. Also, I hate it when some science freak tells me that emotions and feelings are just chemical processes in the brain. Well, those *chemical processes* are telling me to kill you pal so you better shut up.

Time to stop ranting.
ag7433 (927 D(S))
01 Jun 09 UTC
I do love the chemical processes argument. Many argue that because you can manipulate the brain to do/feel/act 'x', then 'x' is not real. I heard 2 NPR segments where 'x' was Prayer (benefits) and Love.
Draugnar (0 DX)
01 Jun 09 UTC
Nothing is real. You are are just the interpretations of the signals my "brain" is interpretting and, in fact, I am a space cloud dreaming I'm a man... So I'm the ultimate multi and meta gamer, I just don't realize it. I'm also the number one player on this site and in the world, but my "brain" refuses to let me perceive it from that perspective because I subconsciously self-loath and don't believe that I, the all powerful god of my "mind universe" could possibly be that all powerful god.

OK, enough sarcasm...
Darth (137 D)
01 Jun 09 UTC
My counter argument to any body that says emotions are chemical processes are just what I said above.

"Well, those *chemical processes* are telling me to kill you pal so you better shut up."
Darth (137 D)

With some *sensitive* people I tone it down to

"Well, those *chemical processes* are telling me to punch you in the face pal so you better shut up."

Darth, for someone who seems to be fairly young, you sure have some very strong opinions.

There is a legitimate idea behind saying that time does not really exist. What he's actually asserting is that time is not actually a dimension that we can move through, but is simply a counting device used by humans as a tool to separate events. It's difficult to say for sure, but current scientific canon probably calls time a dimension and not a simple counting mechanism, though there is a legitimate argument for it. You shouldn't dismiss the idea offhand, especially if it's only because the person giving the idea happens to be an atheist.

"Tell me any major event that happened in science and I can explain it in religion."

Explain conductivity in metals, as just the smallest slice of the smallest slice of what can be explained through science.

Darth (137 D)
01 Jun 09 UTC
Lol you must've took then explaining to seriously. You do realize I can take anything you say and simply say,

God Made it that way or something similar.

You can't argue that back without arguing that god doesn't exist which can never be proven because even if there is no higher being there is still the belief and thus God exists in our minds.

And don't even try to guess my age you'll get it wrong.

I dismiss the idea of time being nonexistent because it goes against my basic beliefs of life. If you suddenly learned that you were switched at birth or adopted then you would be in some sort of turmoil.

Now leave me to rant in peace and stop judging me.

@Darth "You can't argue that back without arguing that god doesn't exist which can never be proven because even if there is no higher being there is still the belief and thus God exists in our minds."
That sounds to me like the logical fallacy of equivocation. Clearly there is a difference between God that actually exists and a God that exists only in our minds.
Pete U (293 D)

Can I vent about the subsection of theists who don't understand 1) logical fallacies 2) science 3) opinion/belief is not evidence or 4) that you can't prove a negative?
Sicarius (673 D)

you cant argue that god made it that way without proving that god exists otherwise your argument would have no evidence/facts at all

spyman (424 D(G))
01 Jun 09 UTC
@Pete U, no doubt you are aware of this: but to be pedantic, it is indeed possible to prove a negative. For example, "a cat is not an insect" is a negative statement which can be proven. The saying that atheists like to use against theists is "you can't prove a *universal* negative". For example you could argue that "cats can fly", but you could never prove they can't fly. It might be that cats can fly, but for some unknown reason they chose not to when we conduct our experiments.
Ursa (1617 D)
01 Jun 09 UTC
LOL, Sicarius is a multi-accounter?

Let me rant a bit over people who contantly need evidence. Proof this, proof that! You know what, you can stick that proof up your ass!
Pete U (293 D)
01 Jun 09 UTC
@spyman - What I meant (and I'll rant about lack of clarity next :) ) is that you cannot *prove* the non-existance of anything. It may be that many non-evidentionary entities are like car-keys - always in the last place you look
Pete U (293 D)
01 Jun 09 UTC
And anyway, cats can fly - just not very well and not for long....

@Ursa I know what you mean. Evidence always gets in the way of good ideas. We would have engines that run on water by now if it wasn't for those negative nellies who require "evidence".

@ag7433: "They cut my MBA expense after I already enrolled and paid?"

Before you enrolled, had they agreed with you an expense amount that would cover your MBA fees? If so, here in the UK, I'm pretty sure their subsequent cutting of your expenses would amount to breach of contract on their part. I have no idea what the legal situation is in your country, but you might want to take legal advice from your trade union representative or someone similar.
