Announcement: The Champions' Trophy.

Some of you may have noticed this on my site. It will take place once the second league season and GFDT2008/9 are over. There will be 2 games running concurrently, with 76 hour phase, and I hope to have all press saved throughout the game so that it could be published after the game.

Somewhere around 1904-ish, England bounced into German-controlled Denmark. Is that allowed in the official rulebook? Or a flaw in the programming?

I can only see England retreating into Denmark, in autumn 1903. Is that what you were referring to?

I assume you probably mean that England retreated into German-controlled Denmark following dislodgement. This is perfectly acceptable play according to the game rules as well as according to this website. Any unit may retreat to a space it can move to normally (except for any spaces accessible only via convoy, those left vacant due to standoffs in the Movement phase, or the space from which the attack originated) following dislodgement. Only after the WINTER RETREATS phase may supply centers change ownership.

Retreats into open supply centers are something that confounds players as they move from new comer to average experience. Game after game I see people stunned and their positions severely compromised by a retreat to a home center.
If you remember that you can retreat to any adjacent province that you could have moved directly to unopposed and succeeded on your own then you can retreat there.

One of the players (hpratt) forgot his password, and still has not received an email to set a new one. There is no way to automatically reset a password and we cannot pause the game without him. Please pause the game or send him his password ASAP. The deadline is in 7 hours.

This game has been paused since last year. One of the players refuses to un-pause. At the same time that player asked for a draw, and the draw also needs only one vote. It is obvious that it is not going anywhere, because the last vote that was cast was on January 15th.
Please do something with this game.

Max builds in 1901

Germany and France (though rarely both!) can sometimes build the maximum of three units in 1901.

Has anyone else ever seen another power get a max build (ie three for Austria, Italy, Turkey, England or four for Russia)?

Varient Idea

I've got too much on to take up another game myself, but I was wondering.
Do you think it would make an interesting game if you were only allowed to send 1 message, of up to 20 words, to each player per turn. I think it would be quite interesting, because with such a limit you'd have to be very careful how you used them. Too blunt, you offend them. Too verbose, you say nothing.
Also, having just one message, when would you send it? Early - you speak first / Late - they can't reply

For less experianced players

I'm wondering if there are any other players who haven't been playing diplomacy for very long but are still intrested in trying a variant game. If so, please post and say what variant you would be interested in. I will try to start that game.
