Procedural question
How is the initial assignment of countries to players done? Is it totally random, does it take into account other games the user has played, or is currently playing? Because I seem to get Russia more often that the other countries!

Thank you for banning Tarablus and restoring the forum.
I am terribly, terribly sorry for having given him the knowledge of how to do an Edibomb, and I apologize to the whole phpDiplomacy forum userbase for making that mistake.

I didn't think he would do something so epically retarded. I was wrong.

Newbie question: phpDiplomacy Symbols
Sorry this is pretty basic, but it's not in the FAQ.

There's a list of other countries at the top, sometimes with symbols next to their names. I figured out that the envelope means that they've left a message; what does the dot mean? (It seems correlated with being logged in, but it doesn't match exactly as far as I can tell.) Also, what does it mean if there's a cross or a checkmark next to the country's name down below the map?

I disagree on both points! Italian food is the pinnacle of edible heaven that the culinary inclined must hope to strive for!

Nothing beats Indian curries and kormas for veggie friendly meals at almost every turn.

french by far, diffinetly not mexican any country's cusine that had to be spicy to cover up the rotten food, or lack of substanence has to be discounted
Jacob (2711 D)

Italian comes in a close second. But if I'm going to get indigestion, I'm going to choose fajitas and plenty of queso over spaghetti every time =)

Mexican food tends to be disagreeable.

Usually it disagrees on whether I'm getting diarrhea.

French for the win. Ever hear about someone getting sick off of French food.
Chrispminis (916 D)

Well for those of us with sturdier digestive systems... =P\

Mexican cuisine is king.

Ah, who am I kidding, I can't confine myself to to one nation's cooking...

Jacob, what part of the world are you from. In my experience, the only good mexican food is in the border states - California, Az, New Mexico and Texas. Each of them have their own spin on it, but I actually prefer most of them to Mexican food IN Mexico, oddly enough.

Maybe because I grew up with "Americanized" Mexican food, I just find it more agreeable.

But having said all that, Thai food is the best.

Variety is the spice of life guys. But if I was to support one fine cuisine, it would be that of the Thailand.

Of course, I'm an Irish-Canadian, so my natural food is pretty much as bland as it gets.

I live in Kentucky, the heart of Mexican-food land. Ok, maybe not.

However, the best Mexican food I've ever had was at the potluck of a Baptist Hispanic church. Those corn things wrapped in the corn husks....wow!
philcore (317 D(S))

haha tamales - I don't care for masa - that the corn meal stuff the meat is wrapped in. but I like the meat inside - I just think they should wrap it in a burrito instead.

Ah, a good British curry, or roast dinner is always good. But you cannot beat good old stodgy British puddings in winter. Rhubarb crumble, apple pie, spotted dick, bread and butter pudding - the list goes on and on, and makes me really hungry!
Pandarsenic (1485 D)

Dude.

Chicken hearts. Don't disregard them until you try them.

Italian food is king, with Japanese (or Chinese, alternately) as queen. Jewish food as prince, with American as princess (I'm fully aware that American cuisine has its roots in a multitude of ethnic groups)

I have to say though, that rhubarb crumble is sounding mighty tasty at the moment.
